Genuine question (no sarcasm) that I probably should google: what did Europeans, particularly people from the British Isles, eat before colonization? Like, what was the base of their cuisine before the advent of tomatoes and potatoes? Was it just wheat? Is wheat even European?
#I saw a tweet earlier that was showing some 'cuisine' from around the world#and when they shared the 'british cuisine' it was just some indian dish (according to what people were saying)#and like maybe the dish is now culturally relevant to the uk (idk I have no idea)#but like... if you wanted to show me a genuine british dish#that did not come from or is not inspired by other cultures from colonies#what would you show me?#because I can think some genuine brazilian dishes (that don't even come from the african and european influence)#like tacacá and other indigenous foods#yeah just curiosity#I'm gonna google it now
