This is an introduction to the creator of this account :)

I'm pretty new to Tumblr when it comes to posts, so bear with me please.

So, you can call me Kaishen (or whatever as long as it's friendly, i don't mind nicknames lol).

In my free time I write a lot, like poems or stories. I also read a lot, digitally and traditionally.

I am a German that taught himself English, so it's not Perfect. I am currently learning a few Languages, like Japanese and Spanish.

Monty is an extrovert for sure and is filled with self esteem, confidence and the talent which makes people wonder why he fell for you. He honestly looks like the one who would totally judge someone and be an ass.

Okay, one thing about him is that he is a HUGE TEASE. Would make fun of your height. Like, dude is 7’1. You’re his little lamb.

a brief introduction hidden amongst a lot of rambling

hello there.

i've gone by many, many names over the years, so introducing myself is always a little strange. You can call me Nosk. you could probably call me anything that isn't an insult at this point and i'd probably answer to it, but i'll go by nosk for now. i'm 21, turning 22 later this month, and i'm too exhausted to care about my gender identity, so i use they/them pronouns, sometimes she/they.

i'm a musician, i guess. i've mostly covered other people's stuff, but i'm trying to get better at writing my own music. i'm working on a second album (is it right to call it a second album when i haven't even released the first?) and i'm attempting to breach my comfort zone with it, writing about things other than teenage love and angst.

(don't get me wrong, i still intend to write about angst, but i've gotta shake things up a little!)

i've also been trying to write for instruments other than the ukulele. i did take freshman music theory after all, even if i quite promptly changed my major, so i gotta put that limited knowledge to use somehow. i own a guitar and know basic chords, i played bass 3 in the marching band my senior year of high school, and have been playing clarinet since 4th grade (but haven't touched it in... two years at this point, since i changed my major. i've never been particularly good at it. clarinet 3 parts are my favorite place in the world.) i own a kalimba somewhere, and an otomatone (i think), and a mandolin (i only learned how to play 'toss a coin to your witcher' and 'greensleves'.)

college has been.. rough. it's difficult to keep myself motivated to pursue any one degree (thanks, adhd and my constantly shifting ambitions) so after this semester i'm moving back home for a while. gonna try to get a job and save up some money. i think a gap year or two would do me good. so, hopefully i'll have a lot more free time to improve my musical skills.

hobbies-wise... i'm big into ffxiv at the moment. i got into it in may of '22, but i've managed to escape its clutches for a couple months here and there only to be dragged back into the mmorpg grind kicking and glamouring and screaming. one of my friend's statics needed a dps sub last month so my ass got carried through m1s and it was actually pretty cool. first time i've ever cleared anything on-content.

i like jrpgs in general. xenoblade chronicles 2 genuinely redefined and/or recontexualized how i view love/romance/ew. right before i got sucked back into ffxiv, i was playing through nier replicant, and i enjoyed it. i'll get back to it soon. probably. someone from my university's art club is very adamant about getting me to play trails of cold steel, but it has yet to happen. he has pretty good taste, so i don't doubt i'd like it, but as i mentioned, the clutches of ffxiv are hard to escape.

besides video games, i knit and crochet, i guess. i just finished knitting my first shawl made of 100% wool (malabrigo dos tierras, it's divine.)

i collect build a bears, mostly sanrio and dinos, and disney nuimos.

i sometimes write fanfiction (not anything good, mind you) and have so many unfinished novels that i need to finish writing eventually.

ugh. i'm rambling, and it's getting very late (or early, technically.)

anyways, yeah. i'm going to use this blog to post occasional music stuff. i'll try not to abandon it like the rest of my other projects.

Unit 07

It’s no doubt that both nature and music have strikingly comparable effects on the human mind, body, and soul. It has become evident through centuries of personal stories, cultural practices, and scientific data that these two are eternally intertwined.

When I think of finding music in nature, my mind immediately goes to my days spent in the UoG Arboretum, laying on a beach on Fire Island, and one specific moment during a school trip to France. Beyond these personal experiences, I can hear the sound of raindrops landing on the roof of my porch, leaves swaying back and forth with the wind, and the ambiance of buzzing of cicadas and chirping grasshoppers. My grandparents and I used to sit on the patio and listen to the calls of Chickadees and Blue Jays. I have a vivid memory of taking a dreadful 3-hour bus ride from Paris to Normandy in April of my senior year. My high school French class was visiting the American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer and I was sitting on the stone wall separating the memorial from the ocean. I remember closing my eyes and listening to the chorus of bird calls and the steady crashing waves. It sounded like a song, with a melody and beat dancing together harmoniously. It will be an experience and feeling I will never forget. I felt grounded in my natural element and enlightened by the impact this natural ballad had on my psyche. It was truly the most serene and content I’ve ever felt.

Similar to the stress-relieving and therapeutic effects the music of nature has on humans, music has been proven to boost creativity and eliminate stress (Mao, 2022). Throughout history, elements of nature have always been extremely popular and relevant in music. There are numerous classical pieces inspired by the sounds of nature among Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the Pastoral Symphony (1808). There are also studies comparing similarities between the rhythmic melodies, intervals, and tones of humpback whale calls and those of modern music (Stewart, 2014). The oldest known form of musical instrument is a Neanderthal Flute made out of the left thigh bone of a cave bear and dates back to 60,000 years ago (The National Museum of Slovenia).

Nature plays a substantial role in music created for relaxation, focus, and meditation. There are countless genres of music that are inspired by or utilize elements of nature, especially genres created with the intention of having a calming and soothing effect on listeners. Biomusic is a genre of music specifically curated from natural, non-human noises. Ambient music and lo-fi also commonly incorporate noises from the natural world, like ocean waves or rain. I am currently listening to lo-fi with Nightlight by Chill4st with melodies of kalimba, rain, and grasshoppers as I write this blog post.

One particular song that takes me back to a favourite memory of mine is Technicolour Beat by Oh Wonder. When I listen to this song, I hear the waves of the Atlantic Ocean washing up against this beach pictured above and seagulls harassing other beachgoers for food. The ocean has recently become my happy place. Growing up, I used to get overstimulated by how sticky and invasive the sand felt and how the sweat made my hair feel. Now I crave it. I love interacting with the crows, practicing tarot and journalling with my friends, and smelling the salt air. I can feel the hot July sun beating on my skin and hear the rustling of brush in the refreshing breeze. It sounded like the waves synced with the rhythm of the song. Despite the debilitating sunburn, that is one of my fondest memories of feeling immersed in the natural landscape around me.

Brief Personality: It’s hard to fully pinpoint Immanuel’s personality, when they don’t know someone they will change their personality on a whim, becoming whatever the other person wants them to be. However once you get closer to them you can start to see the true them underneath all of that. A creative, socially awkward, dork.

Brief Backstory: Immanuel was born to kill. That is their purpose according to heaven. Their goal from the moment they were made was to kill the Antichrist by any means necessary. And Immanuel became a perfect killing machine, cold, calculating, being able to manipulate anyone who got in their way. They were punished and trained relentlessly throughout their entire childhood.

However, Heaven didn’t take into account what would happen when Immanuel was able to step out into the world and see what it’s really like. Less destruction at every corner and more beautiful. And when Immanuel met Michael it was even more of a shock to him that Michael was not a soul sucking evil monster but just, a guy.

Immanuel was able to escape from heavens grasp and began to heal and grow with their new family.

Don't judge me too hard, I'm a beginner but this is me attempting Lemon by Yonezu Kenshi :') to compensate I have tiny lemon wedges on my nails but idk if you can see them lol

Night was always better than day if you asked the animals in the forest. Why was it better? The animals were always asked that question, and they always responded by saying that it was a better atmosphere to party. So as night began to fall over the countryside every animal began to get prepared.

The frogs got their banjo's and harmonica's and with a loud ribit the show had begun.

The mice and rats brought delicious snacks.

The bears brought nice jams and honey.

The foxes, coyotes, and cougars came with nice decorations and party streamers.

The otters brought along maracas and clam shells.

The wolves synced their howls to the frogs music.

The fishes did fantastic synchronized swims. The Catfishes, Blue gills, and Bass struck awe into everyone.

The racoons told jokes and did stand up comedy for the rest of the night.

The opssums played a nice tune on the kalimba, and the rather introverted mountain lions played the flute.

The wolverines sat in the back chewing on bones, choosing not to get into a fight (was recommended to do so by their therapist)

The deers did beautiful dances and the moose did jigs with the stags.

The rabbits, hares and bunnies flipped and flopped around with joy.

Even with all this loud noise the owl still read bedtime stories to her small babies in the nest.

The barn cats wistfully listened as they drifted to sleep, The old beagle sat next to them.

The fire flies dotted the night sky with their pretty lights.

Then a smelly skunk walked in. Everyone went silent.

"Can I join?" He asked innocently.

Everyone looked at each other, smiled and begun to laugh.

"Of course silly! Why would we have a forest party and not invite the skunk?" The bear said.

"Come join us as we dance!" Said the bunnies.

And the skunk did. The animals celebrated all night.

Though someone may be different, you shouldn't judge just by a look, or a wiff.

For kalimbas, if you want a muted sound, look for acrylic, solid kalimbas. They're naturally quieter. If you want louder, more resonant sound, a hollow wooden one is what you want. You can also tune them with a hammer if they don't hit the right keys you want so, in theory, you can play anything on them.

I'd also recommend note stickers to help keep track of the keys. Most kalimba tabs are numbers or letters and it's hard to read them right off the bat in my experience.

I have one of each, with the acrylic being clear with bear ears and the wooden one just a bit bigger. Acrylic is heavier though, so I guess watch for that if weight is an issue.

Not many people know but Wanshi is quite talented with piano

Some short little facts and tidbits about her, some apply to her general fantasy verse, some to... the other one.

Suzy tries to be largely self-sufficient and tends to shirk away attempts to be bossed around outside initial orders. Not the best at asking for help either which can lead to deadlocks.

Comes from a strict household prior to being orphaned. However, she finds herself struggling between upholding traditions and discovering a sense of ‘self’.

Plays the kalimba.

Highly intelligent, and has a look about her that you know this is the case. And she knows it. And she knows you know it. Doesn’t like to be tested.

On that note, she’s not particularly sociable. Grumpy is applicable to a point, but it’s more that she can get impatient with conversation and nuances when she’d rather be reading or doing something else with her time.

Cares more about respect than her sense of pride. Acknowledge her for her skills. Treat her like an adult and she won’t spite you too hard. Difficult, given she’s fairly cute and doesn’t get her growth spurt to look more mature until she starts her 20s...
