[ad_1] Jay Shah (Source: X) Jay Shah is now formally the International Cricket Council (ICC) chief. The question now is how he will take world cricket forward, while keeping Indian interests paramount. And can he treat this position as an opportunity to leave his own imprint, and move away from his father’s shadow? At 35, Shah is the youngest to take charge of the ICC. Just over 27 years after Jagmohan Dalmiya moved from being BCCI Secretary to ICC head honcho, Shah is all set to do the same. Others, including N Srinivasan, Sharad Pawar and Shashank Manohar, who served as ICC heads, moved to the apex body after serving their tenures as presidents of the BCCI. In that sense, Shah’s is a big leap forward and a huge opportunity. It will also be an interesting challenge because the ICC’s financial health will be the key focus in the next three years. The USA experiment during the T20 World Cup threw up a lot of questions and if the ICC is serious about that market, they need to take a number of key calls. With the Olympics in four years, and with cricket making it back to the roster for Los Angeles 28, this could be a huge moment in the game’s history. If things go wrong, it would also be a major opportunity lost. Dr S Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, alluded to it a day earlier. “With cricket in LA28, the government of India is committed to supporting Nepal and Afghanistan and others and will play a major role in getting these nations Olympic ready,” he said. That’s where Shah has an opening. Expand cricket’s market beyond India and open up new revenue streams. Women’s cricket adds to this opportunity, and with the Olympics still three and a half years away, the timing is near perfect. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Jay Shah presenting medal to Rohit Sharma (Source: ICC) Another question confronting the ICC, and it’s hardly new, is how the value of World Cups compares with key leagues like the IPL. Having conducted the IPL, Shah will know the economics. As ICC boss, his ambition will be to make sure that the World Cups retain their aura, financially and otherwise. Can they compete with franchise leagues, or will their values go down over a period of time? Finally, how does he deal with India and Pakistan? While he will have to keep Indian interests in mind, it will also be key as head of global cricket to make sure every stakeholder is happy. For example, how can Indian monies be leveraged to promote Test Cricket? How does he keep PCB in check? How will he deal with unreasonable demands from across the border? As Shah succeeds Greg Barclay, it will be a very interesting few years for him and cricket. This period could well define his legacy as a sports administrator. At the ICC, he is Jay Shah, the Chairman. Not the son of India’s home minister. If anything, that’s something which might prompt Pakistan to play hard ball. That’s where Shah will have to stamp his mark on the world game and steer it forward. How he deals with the current Champions Trophy situation could be a really good index to understand what lies ahead. As Chairman, when he travels to Pakistan, for example, how will he deal with the media? It could be the making of him. If he succeeds, he will always be spoken about as Jay Shah, his own man. also one more reason why vk is unwilling to make it work with pat in the beginning is because the moment he's bonded with pat, he's dependent on him for breaking his heat. vk rails against this unexpected loss of his freedom. because one thing vk desires more than anything else is independence and autonomy. he wants the freedom to make choices and decisions for himself, without being judged, but because he's omega, the world won't allow him this freedom. even in his career, he's never in a position of power, he's always subservient to his board. his board decides whether he gets to play or not, and he has to work twice as harder as anyone else because he can't take his orientation out of the equation otherwise. his board can sack him for any reason and there's nothing he can do about that. vk is in a position where he's told what he can and what he can't do by his board, and he can't rebel or protest against their orders if he wants to keep his career intact.
initially, vk makes up for the independence he is missing in his professional life by being wild in his personal life. he sleeps with every alpha who shows interest with him. then suddenly, his board strip him of his personal autonomy too. they tell him he has to marry pat if he wants to keep playing, and vk has to comply. marrying pat is never a choice for vk, it's a decision that someone else made for him and forced upon him. so much of vk's life is someone else taking decisions for him and him having to obey or risk losing his career, which he cherishes more than anything else.
and now he's bonded to pat, he realises that pat also has power over him. and vk loathes anyone else presiding over him, robbing him of his independence and autonomy. vk hates pat for having the power to break his heat, and knowing that it's not something he can get around makes him hate pat all the more. and it also makes him a bit afraid of pat, just like he is afraid of the bcci. both of them possess insurmountable power over him and if he pisses either of them off, he risks losing his career. and pat also possesses the power to hurt him in other ways. he can deny him his heat, he can cheat on him, he can beat him up, and there'll be nothing vk can do about it. he's dependent on pat now, both to break his heat for him, and to ensure the continuation of his career. and vk absolutely hates that, being weak and vulnerable and at someone else's mercy, and being able to do nothing to prevent that.
so much of omegaverse is actually just vk wanting to be treated like a human and being refused that treatment, because of his orientation.

Chennai Super Kings Ownership Stays Steady Despite UltraTech's Acquisition of India Cements
In a recent development that stirred the business and cricket communities alike, UltraTech Cement’s acquisition of India Cements was finalized on Sunday. However, cricket fans of IPL’s most celebrated team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), can breathe easy as the ownership of the franchise remains unaffected by this high-profile deal.
CSK’s Independence Remains Unchanged
For those closely following the business dynamics of Indian cricket, it’s crucial to note that Chennai Super Kings has been operating as a distinct entity since 2015. The franchise is managed under Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), which deliberately stands apart from India Cements’ corporate umbrella. This separation ensures that N Srinivasan and his family retain their stronghold over the IPL franchise, a fact confirmed by reliable sources.
Despite UltraTech’s recent acquisition of a 32.72% stake in India Cements, which brings their total holdings to a substantial 55.49%, CSKCL is deliberately excluded from the deal. The arrangement was made following a conflict of interest issue in 2015, prompting Srinivasan to disentangle his roles in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from his business interests, leading to CSK becoming an independent entity.
Ownership Dynamics of CSKCL
The shareholding structure of CSKCL mirrors that of India Cements, with the Srinivasan family maintaining a significant 29% stake. This percentage is controlled by the India Cements Shareholder Trust, initially designed to benefit cricketers employed by the company. However, with Rupa Gurunath, Srinivasan’s daughter, stepping down from her role as the president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), these shares have reverted back to direct family ownership.
According to CSK’s latest annual report, N Srinivasan and his family now possess 28.14% of the shares in CSKCL. This consolidation solidifies their control over the franchise, ensuring the team’s governance remains closely tied to the Srinivasan family.
The Uncertain Future of MS Dhoni and Other Cricketers
A lingering question arises concerning the fate of prominent cricketers associated with India Cements, particularly MS Dhoni, who serves as the company’s vice-president. Known for his legendary status in Indian cricket and his pivotal role in CSK’s successes, Dhoni’s position may come under scrutiny. This acquisition could potentially impact other renowned cricketers like Rahul Dravid and R Ashwin, who are also part of India Cements’ workforce.
Apart from these cricketing icons, India Cements has long been a significant employer of numerous players from Tamil Nadu, many of whom participate in TNCA First Division matches. The acquisition raises questions about the future of these players and their ongoing association with India Cements, as UltraTech’s influence in the company grows.
What’s Next for India Cements Employees?
The pressing concern following UltraTech’s acquisition is the fate of the many employees currently under India Cements’ umbrella. While the ownership transition marks a significant corporate shift, the immediate impact on these employees remains uncertain. The coming months will likely bring clarity on how UltraTech intends to manage its newly acquired assets and human resources, with keen eyes on any restructuring plans they may have.
Conclusion
For now, Chennai Super Kings fans can rest assured that their beloved team will remain under the familiar leadership of the Srinivasan family. However, the ripple effects of UltraTech’s acquisition of India Cements may lead to significant changes in the broader cricketing landscape, particularly concerning the employment of cricketers associated with the company. As the situation unfolds, stakeholders and fans alike will be closely watching to see how these developments impact the future of both the franchise and its associated players.
