I wish I actually spoke French. Looking up the text of Le Petit Prince in its original French for the sake of trying to translate a French quote written in phonetics in the English translation of a Japanese novel, and once upon a time I absolutely would have gotten sucked into translating the whole book. I just don't remember enough from high school :(

#ive thought abt going back to learn #but tbh i dont have time and if i make the time then i am going to prioritize actually useful languages #spanish or ASL #at least theres a chance i could use those day to day #rather than letting my french atrophy thru disuse bc no one speaks it #take this feeling for what it is. but ESL speakers have an advantage in that its much easier to find spaces and excuses to practice #bc of english's ubiquity on the internet (sorry)#just not the same opportunities as an anglophone living in the us. and im jealous of that #teslynn personal
