watching taylor j williams' video about barry and succession and he mentions how important it is in his opinion that tv shows don't keep dead characters around in the form of hallucinations/visions or whatever because it creates a sense that they're not really dead. what not watching six feet under does to a motherfucker.....
#no i'm kidding i really like taylor j williams#and i definitely understand that it's important to feel an absence not only bc it's more true to life but bc it often works better within#the world of a story#but it did make me think of sfu and how well it uses that trope#bc it so clearly establishes the 'ghosts' in the frame as reflections of the characters psyches and not the person they were in life#this is especially clear towards the end of s5 with nate bc we know him so well but it's true with nathaniel sr and even the one off deaths#*
