Wonder Comics YJ Thoughts

My re-read of Wonder Comics YJ reminded me how much I've been meaning to play in that sandbox. I remember when it was coming out and how much people complained about it, and I was sad bc I thought it would be so EASY to fix those flaws with a lil' fanfic.

Which brings me to the fact that I wanna get back into writing fic. I've missed it. Why not start with this lil' era that caters to so many things I like anyway? I've got a buch of bunnies/concepts I wanna explore...

Kinda obsessed with Kon's storyline. I dig that he was trapped there, got fake-married, helped raise a baby for a while, and skipped out on the Crisis group memory-wipe as a result. I'm gonna go ahead and read some of his storylines that take place after the YJ series ended, bc I also love what all that whackness did do his relationship with the super-fam.

Amethyst on the team. I should be exploring this. Full stop. Gen, shipping, world-building.... I can go in so many directions with my fave princess and fave team actually being put together, and I should.

Tim's memory reboot a la Zatanna. This was really a cool idea. I like that the core four all have reason to remember their time with each other, even if OG YJ adventures have technically been erased from timeline. Kon was protected by the Gemworld. Bart by his speedster shenanigans. Tim got help from Z, and Cassie... well, I don't think we quite covered why Cassie remembers...

Which means I could do a story about what Cassie remembers and why. Probably involving some Greek god bs. Could be angsty. Could be fun.

That also begs the question of HOW MUCH DO OTHER FORMER MEMBERS REMEMBER? Cissie. Greta. Anita. Cissie shows up toward the end of Wonder Comics YJ, and there has to be some complexity there. I head about her being threatened to return to the cape by Amanda Whaler, and I've considered toying with it.

Then there's the new kids on the block. I admit I don't have a lot of ideas for Kid Lantern and Jinny Hex, but I've got a couple. And I really like the idea of incorporating Naomi into the team. I enjoyed S1 of her trade. I would probably stop there at growing the roster, tho. The big teamup at the end of the book with all the new young heroes was a bit... much.

How much do the Titans remember? The core four were pretty buddy-buddy with Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven in their post-YJ Titan days. Do those relationships still hold water? Or not? Hmmm.

if you follow me on Twitter, this may either surprise/shock you or you might be thinking: "go onnnn..." -eye emoji-

The early seasons of this show introduced me to several characters who I grew attached to as the show progressed. Billy did genuinely get my attention the first two seasons (and he and Pete certainly are tied as favorites of the series in my heart) but it was Season 3 that really made me fall hard for the show (and I had already blessed this show as "#1 Favorite Animated series in my heart" by the end of Season 1)...and with the show, I not only fell hard for him but in general fell in love with Billy as a character.

I'm the same age as Billy IRL rn. While I never lost an eye or a hand in an accident, my eyes have certainly put me through the wringer (I had a lazy eye has a kid and did wear an eye patch at one point in my childhood), and I've worn glasses twice (once as a kid and currently as an adult). I never let my disability hinder me as a person (I have a learning disability that I've overcome since my childhood but a few things still make me unable to function financially as an adult) but despite everything I'm kind, caring, loving, loyal person and I do the right thing and I love my friends.

Billy spoke to me in so many ways and it was just so nice (refreshing in a lot of ways) to not only have a character I wanted to ship my OC with but also a character I can relate to. I do collect action figures and love the things I enjoy & my mom is actually a really cool person who would throw hands for me if I asked her to.

I love Billy's journey throughout this show and I love how in S3 he's going crazy over OG Team Venture, etc but in Season 7 he's not taking anyone's shit anymore and he's been through so much and he basically told Jonas Venture Sr. to fuck off bc Billy has morals as a doctor and he's not budging from that. Likewise with Rusty, despite Rusty being his childhood hero, Billy is not afraid to tell him to quit whining about his life (I love the bit in the movie where it cuts from Rusty on his soap box TO BILLY'S "SO DONE WITH THIS SHIT" FACE and going, "Are you quite finished?").

It's also so funny that I'm the BILLY FAN in a group of people where 3 or more are the PETE WHITE FANS. Like we all love them both of course, it's just funny that I'm THE Billy person. Which I don't mind ofc. I love Billy very much.

of course Season 5 decided to be a homewrecker and give me St. Cloud (who I have come to love immensely...HEY REMEMBER WHEN I SAID "IF YOU FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER"...).

I can't help but cackle because what are the odds that I would be so sold on Billy for the first 4 seasons & I was like "HE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AND I WILL LOVE NOBODY ELSE EVER..."

THEN THE MOST *MERE-CODED "PERFECT FOR MERE" CHECK BOXES & EVERYTHING* CHARACTER SHOWS UP AND I'M LIKE

But my hijinks aside, I love Billy so much. He's so well written and just an all around awesome character and truly a hero. He's my gallant Quizboy <3 also it goes without saying, I love his friendship with Pete White. They're my favorite duo on the show bar-none <3

What is your worst IE headcannons?

I may be too out-of-touch from the fandom to know what people would consider bad and worst but I do have some that others may have an issue with! AND I WAS JUST ABOUT TO ASK YOU ABOUT HEADCANONS TOO, BUT YOU GOT ME FIRST! AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOURS VERY MUCH!! (although I haven't watched most of ares and orion so i may not understand some for now, I would love to hear them still!!)

This ended up a long post, I'm making this cut...

I'll start with a tame one (may also be really boring), but this one needs my other hcs for anyone to understand the actual one I want to share. Here's a "brief" list of the others (happened between og series and inago):

Gouenji has unparallel knowledge of ALL Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Ghibli movies and will defend the female characters with his life. (This is why I thought he probably knows MLP as I said on the last ask)

He's not a fan of social media and does not use anything outside of inalink and private messaging. Not bcs he's cool, he just doesn't understand them. Much like in honosuto with the laptop, initially with inatube, and him always forgetting his useless phone.

Yuuka convinced him to make an inatter (twitter) and inagram account bcs she does not want anyone to steal the @ and that she also wants to be able to tag him on her posts (and of his teammates/friends) so they can keep the memories. He saves all the pictures he gets tagged in and sometimes prints them out to keep in an album he designed (he's very good w crafts). I still can't believe honosuto came up with those social media names (except for inagram)

He only cared about the bare minimum use of social media so he only ever retweets in inatter (never made his own tweet ever; but he does reply on some that addresses him) and only posts his creations on inagram with no caption or a few words about what he made (made takoyaki, felted a bunny, crocheted a penguin, made cupcakes, etc.).

He only has three kinds of inatter rts: about soccer, about making art, and tweets of his friends and family. Yuuka made his bio in both of them. He also became good at taking pictures of his creations thanks to Yuuka.

However, he is mildly updated with internet language bcs that's all he hears from his sister and her friends and from his own friends in the group chat that he only talks in when he's mentioned. He assimilated most of the phrases they use in chats.

Having said all this, he almost has no social media presence. You're lucky to see his page updated after two weeks. He doesn't reply with strangers either unless it's a kid who loves or interested in soccer.

He also doesn't share much in interviews. Very bare minimum of answering questions and always answers in short sentences and just poses for the camera shortly before he bounces. His favorite answer to questions is "oh that's private" not bcs it's private but bcs he doesn't want to talk that long unless youre asking him about his opinion on human rights-- something that his agent and/or soccer club prevented the press from ever asking him again (an hc drop another time). But anyway, he always had strong opinions and doesnt hold back in expressing them (og series and inago) and that's trouble for the club sponsors so they make a lot of effort on stopping anybody from having the opportunity of asking him anything outside of his personal and athlete life.

And the last context here is that Gouenji is autistic, but we already know that.

Okay so now time for the actual bad HC I want to share... which is how Gouenji came out as bisexual to the public

This started with an inatter thread of a person criticizing Anna (Frozen) for her actions in the first movie that reached Gouenji's timeline. Gouenji answers with 7 tweets worth of respectful paragraph of why Anna shouldn't be criticized bcs of how she was brought up, bcs of her isolation, and bcs of her grief, etc. So, everybody lost their mind, etc etc. AND NOW, at the midst of all this, a soccer fan asked him the question below that he answered without thinking much about:

This blew up and his notifications gets flooded with questions about his sexuality and questionable taste that he really didn't mind answering if it wasn't blowing up his phone.

He was out with everyone in his circle that he forgot the world didn't know he's bi. So, he fixed that by tweeting "yes, im bisexual" on his timeline. He logs out and then decided to wait a few months before logging in again.

This didn't sound as fun as I amped it up to be but I think it's a terribly bland HC that I find kind of funny

Ok so @thunderwhenhepurrs asked me to explain Macavigus and seeing as it's a house I built myself on solely headcanons this is only fair 😂

But this is me so it's a very long story

It's built on 3 main things, 2.75/3 of which being pure personal interpretation

1. Macavity is Old. but also not. but. ok, so aliudshf. One of my headcanons since I got into the show in 2016 was that Macavity is in the same Age Group as Gus, Old!Griz, and Deut (My thoughts and age hcs for Grizabella fluctuate wildly nowadays).

2. Macavity is the true identity of Rumpus Cat. I made A Whole Series of posts breaking this down. Certain backstory specifics have changed but the general outline is still something i adhere to.

3. Rumpus Cat was Always Gus' Show First. Based, of course, on the US revival+UK-International Tour, where he plays the Rumpus Cat. The show is always, of course, somewhat associated with Old D, since pre-2016 stagings were directed toward him in-universe and led by Munkustrap, all during Act I, but when Gus and Deut are usually understood as very close...

So. aksudhf.

I tend to hc, When Gus, Deut, Macavity, and sometimes Griz were all in their younger days, that Gus and Macavity were a Thing. And like. Macavity wasn't a great dude but like. Most of the messy stuff happened behind the Rumpus Cat persona. basically OG Jekyll-and-Hyde style, letting out repressed urges under another name, this time just also under the guise of a vigilante. (There's nothing explicitly heroic abt Rumpus Cat in the lines themselves, it's all in the staging and the cats relating to cats)

BUT, and here's where things get REALLY Pepe Silvia. And also just go full in on Magic Macavity. So like I mention in my previous 3-post series, I think Macavity is. Literally undead asufhlasdiu. He's old, he's smelly, he's losing his fur, he's emaciated. How does he maintain an appeal? Well, we do know he's literally hypnotic, and along with that all the cats give off enough fae vibes that like. Glamour. BUT ALSO the force that's keeping him alive draws on resentment and hate so he just becomes a more vile little goblin every day.

So Anyway. Back long enough that Deut was young. And Macavity gets fatally wounded while out Rumpus-ing. And Gus is devastated, obviously, but like. you don't stop living. So he moved on. WHAT HE DIDN'T KNOW was that The Power Of Hate had revived Macavity bc he "died" under the Jellicle Moon, Unchosen, full of Betrayal and hate, and also a living vessel of intense magic that still cannot be truly matched bc Misto, Jemibub, Psychic Twins, etc., all have either different types of magic, or different levels of manifestation and i'm getting sidetracked asudiyh. Anyway he died but came back but at this point, no one knows that. And Gus is moving on with his life and finds new love and somewhere in there we get an Asparagus Jr and a Skimble! And Macavity is in the shadows watching like

I introduce 2 more ideas here.

1.Rumpus Cat's being Gus' Show means, not only did he take on the role but he also effectively wrote the show. It's a memorial piece. He and Deut would have the cat equivalent of parlour readings a lot to get through the first year or so they presumed Mac was dead.

2. Even into the present, Macavity is an Urban Legend. No firm basis for this just the vibe i picked up coming back to the show 2019-2020.

So. Eventually Mac's gotta stop laying low. And would you look at that Gus' replacement goldfish just died how sad. So he starts popping up like. Right after she's put to rest and Gus is like "???? You died????" and Macavity, who is so jealous and bitter but putting on his best charm is all "!!! I got better!!!!" And Gus is very sad and he JUST lost his second love and also he has small children he will not turn this down ok he is not ruining this for himself. And Macavity gets this seed planeted as he like. barely exists around the kids that. tiny minds are malleable. And he starts triangulating them a bit to see if he can pull it off and Gus kinda notices so he's like "hey stop it." and Mac's like "ok -crosses fingers behind his back-" And. Keeps doing it obviously just encourages them not to physically go at each other aliudhflisadf. It ends up endangering one of them (probably skimble bc he's the smaller/younger one aliusdhf) through negligence bc dad wasn't home and he and his brother were perpetually mad at each other now. Probably wasn't anything super duper serious but. still rattling for Gus, Jr, and Skimble; still v easily avoidable; and are we sure Macavity had no hand in it?...

And at that point Gus is like "get the fuck away from me and my kids you demon" and--he does, And he goes to build his own evil cat crime kingdom. But key notes, you know, is that he could indeed manipulate kids. Tugger, Platometus, Bomba, and Demeter, along with Jerrie and Teazer, were all born after his reach was established like they grew up in his territory. But those are all their own stories and what's important to this one is that Eventually he sees Tugger and is like "hm. this child is malnourished and still stocky. I like the potential here." and """offers""" to take him on as protege. But Tugger is harder to break than skimble and jr were, or maybe Mac just wasn't good with someone who pushed back, especially if he had no grudge with them or their father. Either way; Tugger likes practicing fighting and brawling and stuff, but the kids got such a stupid little moral core. Buzzkill. So eventually Mac is like. Done with him. But he's not letting him go back home, oh no. He wants leverage against Demeter and he can't have that if she knows where her brother is.

-Oh yeah somewhere in here, too, is the Ball where he kills Victor in front of little Munk. And Gus. Was p certain Munk wasn't making things up from his emotions when he described his brother's killer.-

So he brings him to Gus. And Gus is like "how tf are you still alive not only did i watch you die but like. you looked like death the last time i saw you and my sons were tiny now they're grown and you barely look worse." and Mac is like "yeah funny that here have a preteen." And then nopes out again maybe or maybe not after a night together once more. And Gus is like "I'm not Deut having all these babies I don't want to deal with this kid 24/7 so Tugger basically spends his time between Gus and the Deutfam.

And after all of this Gus looks at the old play he wrote and is like. "I can't believe I ever mourned you" and it ends up hidden away for a while until eventually like. older teen-young adult Munk is sniffing around and he finds it and he is a theatre kid and Uncle Gus how come you never showed me this one before oh my god can I adapt it no no no need to thank me I promise I'll do it justice" before Gus can be like "so Munk I think we should have a talk about The Rumpus Cat and some puzzle pieces your old man does not have like at all like I really think you don't want to do this."

Which is why, along with offstage reality reasons of course, he isn't there for Act I versions of it. In the US Revival it is explicitly suggested by Deut. And Deut, if he's put together all the pieces, hasn't shown it. And Gus is like. My bro wants to see the show, I'll do it and I'll do it for him and myself. Fuck Macavity man anyone can be Rumpus Cat now. and surprise surprise Deut and Munk actually set the whole thing up as a surprise for Gus bc again. They don't have the pieces, they don't know RC=Mac. Not until later that night aslduhfsldf

AND SO, WHERE THE SERIOUS/RIDICULOUS DICHOTOMY COMES IN IS HERE LISADUHFALISDUHF

Because when Macavity gets scared off and electrocutes himself/disappears like. He's still out there. He just did a batman villain escape and they're always back at it by the next week. So after that there's 2 main ways I see them.

One, Serious: Perhaps redemption arc? Very very gradual, longer than it sounds writing it down, but Gus has no real other reason to hang on from his own perspective, and Macavity just looks so fucking pathetic. So he starts hiding out in the theatre and slowly just. cooling his ember of hatred. But that ember is what's keeping him alive. They die together 🥺😌

and they just have this kind of dynamic bc Gus has to wait in a really long queue to get reincarnated once he dies bc he doesn't die The Choice so he's bumming around and Macavity can see him bc Undead, but also Macavity just. Spites the world by living. Will he ever die? Who fuckin knows man, but he's a lot less dangerous after getting his ass handed to him by a whole group of cats at once. Kids cartoon show villain.

a while ago ppl were making their own country's imaginary skam casts n that was rly fun so i decided to do one for finland! for the names i didn't put much effort into them but i might add two different ones based on what's the closest name to the norwegian one n what i think fits them the best even if it doesn't sound the same (also this pic crew didn't have different body types but chris would still be a fat character n different body types for the others as well)

1. eeva / ilona

giving myself a bi eva bc i deserve it. her season would be p much what og is like but in s4 she doesn't end up w her jonas (joonas) bc i think it's more meaningful if they just stay as friends

2. noora (let's just keep that)

so instead of OG's spain thing this one's definitely sweden n she meets eeva in swedish class. i kinda want to make her a swedish speaking finn but for the sake of the plot ig she has to go to a finnish speaking school but that would be a nice detail to add. her season would be similar to eskam s3 bc domestic abuse rates in finland r astronomical n that would be a rly important story to tell.

3. sana (i think she could have the original name too bc afaik it wasn't norwegian in the first place?)

her season would follow the og storyline to an extent but like noora isn't getting back together w anyone so there's none of that n i would also get rid of any weird girl squad drama that isn't actual discussions abt the squad's casual racism/islamophobia. during sana's season the isak/sana dynamic is replaced w sana/eeva n she has great moments w noora but in the season noora actually grows as a person n unlearns her white feminist ideology

4. vilja or vilma / emilia or emmi

so i would rly like to finally get lesbian vilde that's baiscally it please and thank u. she could have the whole thing w the william (vilho / veeti) but it would lead to her realizing she has experienced comphet. but also vildes have always been the p ignorant one of the group n they literally never learn or grow as characters so i would like to see that be a thing for her where she starts off like that but makes the effort to educate herself n change for the better n then maybe After that she discovers her sexuality bc i'd like to see both arcs but i don't want her to be a bad person while she IDs as a lesbian that'd be bad rep

5. krista (her nickname's krisu bc then p chris can be kristian n they'll share the nickname!)

i want her to have the fun n bubbly essence of og chris but like give her some actual depth n not reduce her to the funny friend :/

then isak n even! i think we would benefit more from a wlw storyline but i got bored making female picrews so here we r smfjkdd also any well-done lgbt season would be much needed

1. all the rly similar ones to "isak" sound like they're for middle aged men or older so i'm just going w iiro / matias

2. eelis / valtteri (couldn't even find a name that i think would actually be good for him but going w this one 🤷‍♀️)

so i think this season can be p much the same except the even doesn't cheat n gets to speak for himself. i think the isak could have a beard but that should be handled better than in OG n preferably the girl would be aware of it so no cheating or outing. i also think it would be a good thing to have sami representation so maybe one or both of the guys could be sami (maybe the even bc he could have a sami name n he could be changing schools from up north or the series could be set in Oulu 🤔 i was initially thinking the capital or Tampere)

also the even is rly gnc w pretty long hair n accessories + in the show he would wear gnc clothes too, his thing could still be film i guess but his Art Thing would be make up! like that's what he'd post on IG instead of drawings n i like the idea of the isak finding a make up tutorial video from him when he's looking him up fmgjdk

hello cindy! i'm working on setting up a writeblr and your account is one of my favorites. i want to come up with a tagging system that's easy to follow and it seems like yours is pretty organized, do you mind explaining how you tag posts? thank you, i hope you have a great day or night!

hi!! omg :pleading: is it really? that means so much to me and i’m glad you like my blog !! <3 sure! so i’m used to being pretty organized bc on my main i like to keep everything tagged so i can locate things after, so i sort of adapted that into my writeblr when i made one:

“o: [insert url]” - the o for me stands for original (author)! i do this so i can track by blogs, sometimes i do o: [name] if i’m close with someone so its easier for me to just locate if they change urls or something, but i’ve seen a lot of ppl do similar things like og, u., or just the url by it’s own tag. pretty much, i’d advise tagging the writeblr url just bc it makes it easier to organize bc this is original work! so its nice to acknowledge who the creator is

“wip: [wip name]” - similar to the above, i tag the wip because it keeps things organized so if someone is passing through my blog and likes the look of a wip (that isn’t mine), they can click the tag and peruse all the things i’ve reblogged from that wip! and then maybe go through the actual writer’s blog :) (the same would go for tagging the writer themselves).

“not mine” - i’ve seen ppl do like “others work” that probs works better bc my search bar actually searches by words, so my *mine tag gets mixed up unless you click the tag itself ahaha. but usually ppl tag what’s reblogged work vs original work of their own to again, sort between. you don’t have to tho! obv this is all subjective.

so all that is what i tag for other ppl + other tags usually are just my general comments, me gushing about their writing, and other things. just thoughts! but those are the ones i def put on a reblog. below will be how i tag my own work:

“[wip full name]” + “[wip acronym]” (if applicable) - i like to tag both in case someone is only familiar with the full name and wants to search my blog, these would show up. for example: #the phoenix mark vs #tpm i do both because this way if ppl are more familiar with the wip they can just search tpm, or if they’re not, can use the full name to see what i have.

“[character name]” - this is a habit i brought over from my litblr tbh, i tag character names so that anything relevant (i.e. character intros, asks i answer about them, excerpts that only pertain to them) can be tagged and so if you only want to look through about one character, you can.

“[wip name] excerpt” - this is for when i post excerpts, so that you can find all the excerpts in one place vs seeing clutter like my textposts, my asks, or other nonsense that don’t always have the actual writing in it.

“cindy writes” + “*mine” - these two are just extra like “oh that’s my original stuff!” tags to gather everything that is mine under one tag (another practice i brought over from tagging my edits on litblr ahaha, but i think most ppl do this too on writeblr)

and then for asks i just do a really generic “answered” + “[url]” when i answer asks! obviously, these are all really subjective, you can pick and choose what you like and how you do it, but those are really general umbrella tags i think you can use/mirror to be able to group a lot of things you want together. if you look around other writeblrs, a lot of them do the same format but with their own quirk or tagging format! i do something super general bc i’m used to just tagging series straight without like wip: the phoenix mark for my own stuff, but i do so for others to keep it separate from my commentary tags!
