sometimes it's really nice and appreciated when the butch/masc female character actually is overtly lesbian and not just the protagonist's friend or the character who doesn't care about romance. she can just be a lesbian and that's okay.

#im thinking about when i first saw the arcane trailer back in 2019 #i saw vi's design and thought 'hm she looks like a lesbian'#i cant tell you the number of times ive refused to watch a piece of media with a masc woman in it #bc i was terrified they'd make her date a man or she'd be ambiguously straight #and that's a fear i had when i saw vi #which is why it means so much that they made her gay #it matters so so much #im so tired of writers or scenarists refusing to make their butch character a lesbian #bc she'd be stereotypical as if lesbians irl aren't the stereotypes sometimes #its not any better if the only acceptable lesbians being portrayed are femme #and im saying this as a somewhat femme lesbian myself #i love butch lesbians they deserve the world #and they deserve to be represented in media #ramblings
