... What if Pariah Dark was a giant kinda like other extremely powerful ghosts in the series? Sorry I just can't stop thinking about the image of a giant castle and Danny waking up in a giant bed because the Crown sensed his distress at being possibly vulnerable with his parents around and spirited him away automatically to what is now his Lair as he was sleeping. Immense confusion some hilarity and a bit of sadness.... Just how I like it.

You're in luck, take these warmups. He doesn't like physical contact with strangers anymore since 99% of the time they either complain about him being too cold or don't know how to handle his arm without causing him pain. (Sam and Tucker are experts at avoiding that at this point)

Was ranting and literally had to pause being angry to contemplate this more, that's how I get all my ideas btw they're born from the pits of anger and frustration. Kinda like revenge plots.

The main concept of the EctoScience AU isn't really anything special;

As a wee 9 year old, Danny knows 2 things make his parents the happiest: researching ghosts, and talking about their research in ghosts; and he's still a kid you know? He seeks a connection with them, there's a lot of things he simply doesn't understand about how the world should work.

So he starts Listening when Dad talks, reaching for their old textbooks and notes, watching carefully as Mom tinkers with electronics, he doesn't get All of it, obviously, but he understands more than the average child would and no amount of cajoling from Jazz can stop him from joining their conversations at the dinner table and the years of Lessons that follow.

And later at 14, Danny was fully aware the switch was installed in the wrong place. Ah- Dad's done it again, it should be fine if he's careful... No reason to bother them now....

This Danny knows all Ghosts are simply emotionless monsters that prey on the living and can't be trusted.

Above all, this Danny wants to make his parents proud.

This Danny is also, unfortunately, painfully, about to realise why that will never be possible.

Danny can cook but it's purely simple high-calorie stuff he can get away with cooking up at 2 am. It's either that or sneaking out to find a fast food place that's open 24h and frankly he probably knows that Nasty Burger menu like the back of his hand. His hunger is not even anything supernatural in origin it's a combination of the sheer amount of action his body goes through every day & the fact he's a teenager who's still growing.

I'm dual track drifting here; you have the mild sadness of being constantly hungry/peckish but unable to have consistent meals because of interruptions + your parents being too absorbed in their work to go grocery shopping. And the crack of Danny in the pitch black kitchen cooking a huge pot of something like MF DOOM's villainous Mac n cheese and not even bothering to use plates shoveling it in his mouth straight from the tray praying and hoping a ghost doesn't attack that very moment because by God this is as close to heaven as he's ever gonna get.

I fully believe the Fairywinkle-Cosmas are just terrible at keeping eachother up to date on current events going on in their lives, Cosmo and Wanda being surprised at Peri being a godparent meanwhile Peri has a scathing clapback locked and loaded about how yeah it was a secret BUT they didn't tell Him that they came out of retirement and had a new Godkid- AND THEN THERE'S TIMMY BACK FROM HIS ONE MONTH VACATION WHO WAS TOLD NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING and came back to a really messed up Fairy World. And of course he himself forgot to tell anyone that his vacation would be in a different dimension. Terrible job everyone!

So first thing, love your ecto AU Danny’s design is amazing and I love how you draw Sam too!

I do want to ask, how is Danny treated at school by Dash and the others? (both pre and post accident if he’s more into ghosts like his folks, and he comes in with a really hurt eye and partially paralysed arm with all the scaring)

I am working on a comic about this! but I don't mind explaining it here (hell, it'll probs help me get my ideas in order better), questions about this Au are very encouraged so don't be shy guys:

Danny has been interested in ghosts for long enough that most of his peers know, even if from 6th grade onwards he attempted to hide it because it wasn't exactly "cool" or "normal". He was bullied a lot, and most of it probably called back to how he was from a family of "crazy people ", I can also see adults playing a part especially in his younger years by trying to gently dissuade him from being like his parents.... All in all this Danny is Isolated more than anything else, he feels alone in his interests with only his parents to turn to. Jazz? Uhhh that deserves it's own thing.

The injury. Ok. The dynamics of the incident are intentionally fuzzy, what you need to know is that Yes. The Fenton parents KNOW the incident happened, they just don't know the full consequences of it (Danny being half ghost). He was taken to the hospital and stayed there for... About a week. I'm not going to get into too much detail here, but the rumours around town were going wild; saying the Fentons had gotten their son injured or worse due to their work, and when Danny eventually went back to school in a sling and with half his face fucked up... Things didn't exactly get better.

In short, Danny isn't really bullied anymore, at least not physically- if anything the popular kids have just taken to pretending he doesn't exist. The teachers and other adults just look at him with varying levels of pity and honestly Danny is just sick of it, on top of dealing with a ton of other things mentally. Thank god for Sam and Tucker.

That new ghost king au looks amazing! any idea already what happened? The part with tucker and sam suggests danny cant go back to the humand realm, but it also sounds in the part with vlad like he hasn't been there for a long time?

Nah this was sorta inspired by Tangled? Danny's past is purposefully left very vague but basically he's the Far Frozen's beloved prince & saviour; he was taken in by the Yetis as a young child but he was old enough to remember his name and that he had a family back in the human realm.

"Why didn't Danny just use the Infini-Map to go home if he remembers?" Is the big question I had to figure out since that thing can basically take you anywhere and my solution was that Danny simply believes himself to be a full ghost, he does not know he's half human. The Yetis know but decided not to tell him specifically so he wouldn't try to go into the human realm, and have forbidden him from using the Map without their permission, using the excuse that he's simply too young.

"Why are they keeping him away from the human realm?" To protect him. Plain and simple. Shortly after Danny appeared, the human realm became a nightmare for ghosts due to ghost hunters becoming extremely active and increasingly violent. They just don't want him to get hurt, or worse, captured.

But Danny really wants to go there! He's heard a lot of bad things but he really wants to find his family and get some closure on what exactly happened the day he "died". So when this strange "Plasmius" ghost shows up, saying he can get Danny into the realm of the living, plus revealing with proof that the Yetis have been keeping secrets and lying, leveraging the fact they're both halfas and thus should help eachother, Danny falls for his lies and gets trapped in a human realm full of bloodthirsty hunters with no way back to the Ghost Zone.

... Yeahhh he would have taken fighting Pariah again over this.

I had a really whack dream tonight and now all I can think about is Danny kinda sorta astral projecting every time his human body falls asleep but he doesn't really suffer any ill effects from it so he just. Gets up from his body and floats over to his computer or TV to either start grinding on Doomed ("Sam why the hell are you awake?" "Couldn't sleep, wait. Why is Tucker online on my friends list." "Goddd we're so done for tomorrow morning.") or catch up on movies or series he doesn't normally have time for. Anything but studying ig.
