the car is about alex's realization of what he was before and what he is now. choosing to keep a mask on to perform and separate the art from the artist. two different personas that perhaps are struggling to coexist but feed off of each other. the songwriter/artist that he was when he was younger has long left and he's asking the audience if we will come (to the car) with him or leave. the freaking metaphorical car that represents the artist that's there. just to be displayed and admired. he's grieving what he was trying to not be emotional about it but he can't help it. he's not relatable anymore because he's not writing romantic (fast paced) songs that cater to the masses and maybe he did have great ideas but he won't give us that anymore just whatever he has now and he's trying to wrap himself around that idea still and FUCKING MR SCHWARTZ,
