It’s something funny to you, when Choso pokes his head out of the shower, hair somehow more aggressively formed into mountains than usual. And he’s blushing, bashful, asking what he should do if he accidentally used your body oil instead of shampoo. If it’s bad? If it was expensive? He doesn’t know. You have so many things in the shower – exfoliants, hair masks, stiff bristled brushes, washcloths hanging over bath faucets, a far cry from simple familiarity.

Maybe Choso’s anxious because this is still something new enough where you’re not sure if you’re teaching him how this relationship works or, just, how… all of this works; a normal human life where the normal human is what is so weird to him. It’s so mundane. So different. How could it not be something nerve-wracking?

So he stammers, nets of loofah shredded in his fingers, the water screaming behind him as you grin in the bathroom.

“I might have spilled it, too, and I’m sorry, it came out much faster – ”

You kiss him then, forcing the giggles to close, curving your fingers under his wet chin to cut his adorable worries short.

And his lips feel slightly chapped, but the beaded skin under your fingertips is soft, and so is the pressure with which he presses his mouth back against yours. The kiss is short, and Choso looks at you when your head tilts back, lips still barely pursed in soft petals. He leans back in to taste you again. Knowing each step of this silent dance.

Maybe it’s something more than human instinct then – more than human, more than instinct. Maybe this is a love without any verbal communication to define it.
