i feel like this deep seated fear of not being enough drives a good portion of adrien’s interactions with people, like of course there’s “when i was a kid i wanted to be whatever my parents wanted me to be,” and the way he’s always compliant to what his father wants, but even outside of that relationship. the way he changes himself into cat walker to try and be exactly who he thinks ladybug wants and needs him to be, the way he keeps trying to be nice to chloé even though she's cruel to everyone, his interactions with the gorilla and nathalie.. he's always apologizing to people, he goes through interactions unsteadily, except when he can hide behind his mask and become chat noir (except when he feels ladybug might be upset with him, which completely throws him off and causes him to spiral). it is definitely most obvious in his interactions with his father though, for clear reasons
