maizula is so good bc i feel that mai would understand extremely well how suffocating azula's life is right under her father's thumb. sure azula has more free reign and more power and handles herself better than the rest of them, but mai could probably identify with the expectations placed by a parent more than anyone else. plus she's pretty perceptive. it's totally obv to see that azula's free, but not really free, yanno?

anyway,,, tldr: maizula oneshot modern au where mai gets tattoos and azula mocks and pretends shes not interested in them but is secretly obsessed n jealous bc her father is way stricter in an unspoken sense. mai easily reads between the lines :)))
