On the Knuckles series announcement:
Okay first of all, obviously I'm happy to see that hat return.
And more Maddie ofc.
But I'm worried about the plot. Not because of how much game lore we'll get referenced or how well they'll pull of the premise of "Iconic Character trains Comic Relief Character That Was Okay I Guess in the ways of the warrior, hijinx ensue" but because I'm worried I'm getting bored of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.
This is an entirely subjective criticism, so just know this is more of a vent than a real criticism post.
That said, as much as I liked the first movies for what they were able to do right, I feel like these movies are being held back by their attempts to mesh the creator's passion for the games with the studios' need to make it a basic funny animal movie series.
It's not offensively bad as the Peter Rabbit movies which had the charm of the source material gutted to make a James Corden vehicle, but it feels like it's got the same symptoms. The feeling like somebody feels it would be more marketable to focus on Sonic characters interacting with our world than fully indulging in Sonic's world. Something that I'm more willing to blame on Paramount execs than anybody onboard the creative team for the record.
I do think that part of this disappointment is me and some folks hoping that Knuckles was going to get a dedicated character study like Peacemaker or The Mandalorian (but with a red echidna), but without drawing unfair comparisons... Sonic Prime is doing it better?
Maybe not as a Knuckles show, but Sonic Prime while definitely made more for the fans and rushed because of the binge model curse is unapologetic about being about Sonic. The story is about Sonic, the characters of Sonic's world, and Sonic's world itself. It's written by people who love the games and want to make stories about the world of the games!
It doesn't feel the need to dress it up as a mid cgi animal buddy comedy thinking this will somehow make it more approachable to non-fans, or to hold back the stuff the fans came for with run-of-the-mill human characters.
(Alright, I'm going to just come out and say it: the Watchowski's are really nice in theory, but in execution they're a pretty average family.)
Well now that I've probably gone below the belt, now's the part where I remind everyone that you're welcome to enjoy what you like, and the show isn't even out yet so any real attempts to critique it are moot.
...
That and I don't have Paramount+ yet and I don't want it, so. Yeah. That's bit of a turn off, too.

Teeth for hire
Summary: Blade takes you and Jack on his hunt for your sire. Cameos galore and a jealous Jack :3c
Warnings: Bad touch, mentions of blood, canon typical violence
Still using my own vampire mythology mixed with the blade one. So fangs, silver, stakes, speed, strength but sunlight just makes them very weak. Also some of Jack's comic abilities since I have no proof he can't do that in the film canon and I make the rules.
First/Next
Part 2
London was uncharacteristically sunny when you arrived. Despite the chill that clung in the air the sky was cloudless. You adjusted your hat and slipped your sunglasses on. Whilst sun wouldn't make you burst into flames it was still rather uncomfortable to be out in. Like walking around trying to operate with the worst flu of your life.
You'd been around Jack like this before at least and he'd thankfully taken your arm in his. First morning he'd been in a panic, flinging a sheet over your head when you wandered into the sunny kitchen. It was sweet and you'd laughed it off, explaining how weakened you were but that you'd be okay. He now lead you through the streets after Blade, aware of the vision loss those rays were causing.
"How come he's fine?" Jack whispered to you. You saw the way Eric's head shifted ahead of you. You'd have to explain the sensitive hearing at a later date.
"He's the daywalker, half vampire. Immune to sunlight, silver, hell even garlic." You explained. Jack stilled in your arm a second but your mind was still spinning in the glare.
"Wait garlic?" Jack squawked. You hissed lightly at the sudden increase in volume. Jack cleared his throat. "Lo siento, but garlic? Your allergic to garlic?"
"Violently." You answered.
"I've been cooking for you for months y/n. What if I poisoned you!" Jack whispered angrily. In his mind he was cataloging every dish he'd ever given you, try desperately to remember if he'd almost killed you.
"Never ate things that smelled like it, plus it really has to be more concentrated to do any real damage." You explained squeezing his arm. "I like when you cook." You hummed slumping your head against his arm. The dizzying heat was starting to make your mind feel fuzzy. Jack settled, enjoying having your near again.
He'd been feeling uncomfortable with your old friend around and not just because it was straining his neck. Something about Blade had him sure he didn't mean well, maybe the lack of explanation regarding his plan. Or maybe just the way he stayed primed to attacked at all times.
"We're here." Blade announced.
Ahead the British museum stood, gleaming white stone causing you to groan and advert your eyes. You followed Jack and Blade through the crowds of tourists towards a quiet area. Indoors you fared a little better, more able to walk on your own. Still you kept close to Jack for now. After all he seemed pretty agitated by all this.
"Contact should be here shortly. You holding up?" Eric asked. You looked up at him through your sunglasses grimacing slightly. He chuckled at you a second as he leaned on the wall.
"Hey can't be worse than Moscow right?" Blade smirked at you, glancing briefly down to Jack. You laughed suddenly, arm unlinking from Jack's as you pointed an accusatory finger to Eric.
"Oh I think you know why that was worse." You giggled again. Jack frowned beside you. He couldn't help glaring at Blade while you laughed together. He didn't have much time to stew however when a man cleared his throat.
Jack looked up at the new comer, curly haired guy in a flat cap looking off to the side before meeting his gaze. He was stern looking, sporting a fading bruise over an eye and some stubble.
"Got your lead Blade." The man grunted in an out of place Brooklyn accent. He seemed to mainly scowl at you and Jack. "I've got permission to end you lot if this goes south." He sneered.
"Sure you do." Blade said. "Night's safer with us in it, sure the big guy knows that too."
The man grunted but stayed silent for the moment. He turned to watch as some visitors passed by your group. Between Eric's leather, the mans injured appearance and your giant sunglasses, you couldn't be surprised you garnered stares. You were a rather eclectic group. Jack was about the only one of you pulling off a somewhat normal appearance. Well a very handsome appearance but far less jarring to the public in his shirt and slacks.
"Well he seems delightful." Jack whispered into your ear. You smiled softly at him and he grinned back.
"Caught him with a bad attitude, he's nicer when he's English." Blade responded.
"Not telling while the suckheads' here." He jabbed, turning back to you. Jack squared himself but your hand touched his gently. You have a warning look, slowly shaking your head.
"We'll meet you back at the hotel." You explained to Blade before taking Jack's arm and walking off for the taxi rank.
It'd be hours before sunset and there'd likely be a fight by the end of the night, always was with Eric. You took the opportunity to lay on the king sized bed and rest for the moment. Jack sat on the edge taking his shoes off, face set in a frown.
"Not like you to be so grumpy." You joked. Jack didn't laugh, just turning to you with a serious expression.
"Can we trust Blade?" He said sternly. You sighed and sat up, shuffling over to sit by him, resting a shoulder to his. You missed the comfort of the cabin, Ted, sitting warmed by the fire with Jack.
"No." You admitted. "Blade's...Eric... he'll do whatever it takes to keep people safe from vampires. If he thinks I'm a threat to them I'm done for."
"So why come? It seems too much to risk?" Jack asked his hand coming to meet your own on the bed as he turned to face you. His forehead creased in worry and you wished you could reach out and soothe him. Ruffle the fluffy salt and pepper locks like you would through the bars of the cabin's cage.
"My sires bad news. As long as he's out there people are dying. I've been after him for years..." You explained as Jack rubbed a thumb across your knuckles. "But hey don't worry, Blade'll have him dusted before we know it and we'll be back home before the full moon."
Jack knew there was more to this for you but didn't pry. He gave your hand a quick squeeze before heading to the rooms bathroom. He chose to focus instead on how you'd called the cabin home. Letting his thoughts run wild and butterflies dance in his stomach. Soon you'd be back there together engulfed in the honeyed mix of your scents that felt right. Not catching the sharp hit of something bitter off Blade around you.
When Eric returned he told you the next steps. You blanched, you'd need to go to a vampire safe house. A building that'd be full of other less friendly vampires with your mouth watering warm blooded friend.
"Look this is a vampire club, I just think it'd be best if you watched our backs." You pleaded from the bathroom mirror. The very idea of Jack stepping foot in that place made your gut twist.
"Actually it'll just be you." Blade interjected. "Dracula won't turn up if I'm there."
"No! no no, we can't just leave them in there alone." Jack bit at him. Even amongst others of your kind he didn't like it. He wanted to be with you in this, not out on the step waiting.
"Wait Dracula?" He asked turning to Blade.
"Excuse me?" You said indignantly peaking round the door. "I'll have you know I'm more than capable of taking care of myself."
"That's not what I meant...." Jack swallowed meeting your eyes. Your expression was set though he could tell his comment stung. He sighed before turning back to Blade.
"So we just wait out on a building near by, like a pair of idiotas" He asked.
Which is exactly what they were doing. Blade set up at the edge with thermal googles watching into the building. Jack sulked on the roofing peaking down at the painted over windows.
You'd emerged from the bathroom dressed up for this club in the least amount of clothing he'd ever seen on you. Tight leather cut short that hugged you just right. It took all his self control not to drool as he followed along. The idea of everyone in that place doing the same made his blood boil.
"So how long you two been a thing?" Blade asked suddenly.
"What!" Jack squeaked. "no, no we're not dating..." He babbled. "They, we just ran into trouble together. We're friends!" Jack cursed inwardly, he didn't even believe himself. Still Blade just hummed, looking back to the other side of the building.
"Just never seen Y/n so...happy." Blade added.
"Qué?" Jack frowned.
"Just always been... angry." Blade shrugged. "Always just on the hunt."
Jack thought about you. You were rather skittish when he first met you but he'd never have described you as angry. Hell he was half surprised you were actually a vampire, he'd never have believed it if he couldn't smell it on you. Or if your beautiful smile didn't flash a hint of fang.
"That how you met then?" Jack asked bitterly. He knew hearing the details on you two would only make him upset but the curiosity got the better of him.
"Yeah, knew my mentor. Stopped by a few times over the years, helped with the training. I'm not much for working with others." He explained. Jack soured, so you did have a lot of history together and from the slight smile Blade wore now he was fonder than he'd let on to you.
"So you ever date?" Jack probed instantly regretting it. Blade didn't snap at him though just snorting at the thought. "What? Y/n's amazing it's not a stupid question." Jack huffed.
"I met them when I was 13." Blade explained turning to look at Jack at last. He flushed at the bemused expression Eric held as he stared down at him squirming. "They're basically family."
"Oh." Was all Jack could manage out before Eric clapped a hand against his head ruffling his hair and laughing at him.
"You really thought we'd...?" He snorted again. "Man you got it bad."
Jack grumbled avoiding meeting Blade's eyes as he stared down at the building bellow. Another vampire passed through the double doors into the neon glow inside but he wasn't their guy. Jack turned his attention to the passersby keeping his eyes pealed for groups.
"So Dracula?" He asked, hoping Eric wouldn't press him further on his feelings.
"Yup." Eric said not taking his eyes from his watch.
"Like, Dracula Dracula?" Jack pressed.
"One of them." Eric hummed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A shiver ran down your spine. The club was hot, bodies pressed in tightly and writhing to the music. It set your hair on end to be surrounded by them. Not least because of what Eric told you once Jack was out of earshot.
Tonight you were bait.
The Count had been seen around London in the last week, often hitting up blood banks and local night life. Supposedly he was on his best behaviour since the city had it's own protection. Still Blade knew him as well as you did, no way he hadn't killed already. Still he'd risk coming out here for you even if it drew the communities attention. Jack would've opposed to this plan, you knew he would. So he was out there in the dark with half the plan on his mind.
You pressed through sweaty dancers clad in leather and lace to the bar and flagged for a drink. To your left a couple kissed, teeth nicking each others lips and blood being passed by their clashing tongues. At least there were no humans here, no harm done.
Blade was watching from the opposite building, ready to send you a message if he spotted anything. So you were just trying your best to stand out, dance and hope someone sent word of your arrival sooner rather than later. You didn't think you could stomach being in this outfit for more than an hour. Not with the way Jack had stared at you when he saw you in it, your sure he thought you looked terrible. You thought that much with your bites visible.
"Not your usual scene y/n." A man spoke softly to your left. You didn't turn taking your drink and downing the lot in one go.
"Could say the same Doctor." You hummed. The man chuckled lightly before flagging for a drink himself.
"Got word our mutual friend was in town, so I'm leaving. Just stopping by for a drink and to warn you." He hummed into his glass.
"That what we are? Last I saw you, you'd left me to our friend." You hissed.
"He's on his way, if this isn't your plan. Run." He said leaving his drink and walking away through the crowd. You lost his dark hair in the crowd quickly. You wished you could just message Jack, take your mind off things for a little bit but no. If this was going to work you needed to appear like you were here for fun.
With liquid encouragement you went under the flashing lights. The music was odd but not without a good rhythm, so you danced. After a few songs you'd found yourself amongst a group of excited women that managed to tease a smile from you.
The comfort didn't last as a cold hand snaked its way around your hips and drew you back sharply. The girls went to hiss at the interruption but froze looking behind you. All at once the place fell silent and still, save for the cruel chuckle in the shell of your ear. One of the girls gave an apologetic look before they scattered.
The room was suddenly far emptier, dancers running out when the fun stopped and the threat unveiled himself. Now Vlad held you flush against him. You were alone on the dance floor with him, his loyal guards covering all the entrances. Blade would have noticed them, seemed like you'd just need to bide your time for his arrival.
"To what do I owe the delight of seeing you here darling?" He purred against your skull. His nose rubbed against you hair before he huffed and shoved you forward. You stumbled over yourself on the blood slick floor.
"Surely you know better than to be picking up strays?" He sneered bloodied lips curling. You cursed, of course Jack's scent would be all over you after spending all day so close. You fought back your own glare as you righted yourself.
"Well no one ever did teach me my manners." You quipped. Your phone was pressed close to your skin but you felt no buzz. Where were they? Fear shivered through your bones, a light tremble reaching your fingers.
"A mistake I've tried to righten time and time again." He said rolling his pale blue eyes. He stalked forward and circled around you, appraising you. You'd forgotten just how tall he was, practically stooping to not hit the disco ball. "Tonight I intend to do so, one way or another."
His large slender hand suddenly flung up to your cheeks. Vlad's bruising icy grip wrapping round your skull making it harder to stand your ground. You kept your eyes locked on his, some prey instinct kicking in to keep a predator in sight. He turned your face to the side leaning in to your neck.
Your skin itched with adrenaline the burn to lash out, to fight him. It was so unlike the last time someone was this close. When Jack had fallen asleep watching VHS's in the cabin and slumped onto your shoulder. His hot breath fanning out against your throat as he slept peacefully.
It was not too dissimilar to the first time Vlad went for your throat. You'd fought him then, fragile human hands clawing at his eyes and legs kicking. It didn't save you from the bite then, 10s of scars littered you from him and his brides to prove that.
Before lip or tongue met your skin you were being launched across the room. Warm firm arms clasped you close to a heaving chest as a roar sounded out above you. Jack landed on his heals keeping you pressed to him.
The count laughed across the room, clasping his hands in a loud clap. His guards had weapons drawn and a ways into the building you could hear gun fire.
"Oh delightful you brought your pet." He sang. "Be a good dog and put what's mine down won't you?" He mocked.
"Nothing yours here, gilipollas!" Jack snarled over growing fangs. He placed you to your feet by him as the guards approached.
"Pity, guess I'll have to put this dog down y/n." He tutted. Jack lunged at his claws swiping but he shifted. Undeterred Jack dove low and swung his foot out but Dracula was quicker backing up out of his strike.
The first of the guards reached for you. The small silver stake you'd hidden was in your hand and embedded in their chest in a moment. Behind you a gun cocked but you leapt before the first shot, the volley of bullets hitting other guards instead. You flipped over the gunman and got him in the back. Heart pierced he burned to ash in seconds.
You heard Jack cry out, a pained yelp as he went flying. He crashed hard against the bar, struggling to get up. You moved to help but another guard shifted into your path. You cursed swinging at him but he caught your hand and slammed a fist into your nose. Pain blinded for a second you leapt back. You vision blurred as tears rushed to your eyes over your broken nose. You saw him rushing you regardless and rolled out of his path. The abandoned gun suddenly within reach you grabbed it and fired.
It wasn't silver but he was downed for the moment, crying and writhing on the dance floor. Jack slammed into the ground by you and you rushed to him. Crouched over his prone and groaning form you shot at your sire. He was quick, far quicker than you or the gun and blurred between poses until the clip was empty. His face was a mask of rage, twisted far beyond recognition.
"You'd have this foul creature over me?" He hissed. Vibrant blue veins popped against chalk white skin as he slicked back waist length hair.
Silver stake in hand you kept your protective position over Jack. His groaning had ceased but he didn't move. You listened intently to his steady breath and his pattering heart. Alive.
"In every life and in every death!" You screamed back to Vlad. He snarled but it was from behind you felt a sting of pain. Confused you reached to its sourced at your neck, needle falling and clattering to the ground. Your hand gripped the surrounding skin as it burned then numbed. A heavy feeling pushed down on you and you found yourself crumpling down over Jack.
"No..." You breathed out as a black haired figure entered view. "Michael?"
"Sorry y/n..." He said softly as the shadows over took your vision.

"i am never, ever, going to one of jisung's parties again."
you shift in your 'seat' to try and get comfortable which results in the person underneath to emit a low groan, hot breath fanning against your ear causing goosebumps to rise all over. it's such an inappropriate scene, the way changbin has you perched on his lap, firm hands on your hips to stop you from moving around too much. "comfy, princess?" he rasps, and you have to bite your lip from making any sounds you know will boost his ego. it's already sky high as it is. god you could almost feel the raging hard-on if you leaned further back, even just a little.
it's hyunjin's fault. you blame it all on hyunjin for dragging you there because he said you needed to "have fun and let loose" after 2 weeks of stress and sleepless nights during final exams. you really do appreciate his thoughtfulness, and he's not wrong for the most part, it's just that you would've preferred staying in to binge watch the latest episodes of private lives on netflix. you're so behind on the drama it's frustrating. but when he offered to buy you new clothes for the halloween party, you figured why not? there's no loss with those terms are there?
wrong. hyunjin just conveniently forgot to mention that your natural enemy seo changbin would also be there. and that he'd be hot as fuck dressed as a policeman. if you were being brutally honest you'd like for him to lock you up and use those handcuffs for you, but it's well known around the campus that y/n and changbin do not go together. you bicker, you fight, you squabble every single time you're in the same room, let alone the same space. he riles you up like no other, and you challenge him like none has.
the sexual tension though? un-fucking-believable.
in changbin's defense, you didn't have to look so sexy in that air hostess costume. a flight attendant? he'd love for you to attend to his needs instead. it's true, the both of you can't stand each other but what's a bit of hate sex can't fix? "probably everything." was what his best friend and fellow roommate chan had said. he might be true, but that won't stop changbin from trying now will it? no, of course not.
"truth or dare y/n?"
curse that beer bottle for landing in your direction twice in a row. the first ended up with you in that position. and now? it's about to get real. so there's two options. either you get zapped by the lie-detecting machine or pick a lousy dare. both you're sure will only end up in your misery because your whole group of friends will forever try and get either you or changbin to break and get into each other's pants (or skirts) already. there's no giving up in their dictionary unless when it comes to studying.
"dare."
changbin whistles at your decision, his intense stare burning holes at the back of your head as he removed one of his hands to rest on your bare thigh. every touch of his fingertips sends tingles up your spine, core starting to drip with want. the longing, the need to be filled is overwhelming that your brain turns into mush and all rational thoughts are out the window.
"i dare you.. to kiss changbin. french style, if you will."
fuck it, you thought. you want a show? fine, i'll give you a show.
in the blink of an eye you've switched positions to straddle his lap, taking off the hat he's wearing and placing it on yourself before leaning in to capture his lips with yours. he smirks during the kiss, feeling victorious at you finally giving in at your desires. under different circumstances you'd want to slap that smirk right off, but now you're in too far to care.
it's animalistic, how he has in tongue in you within a split second after giving your ass cheeks a particularly harsh squeeze. the gasp you let out encourages him to move lower and lower to where you need him most. the sucking and biting he litters under your jaw would be future y/n's problem to handle in the morning because right now, you're putty in his hold. the purple and red marks are a sign, a warning. this is seo changbin's territory.
your hands around his neck, tangled in his soft locks earns a string unholy moans you're sure you'll never get tired of hearing. he knows damn well what he's doing. not one sweet spot of yours did he miss, and by the end of it he has your dress bunched up around your waist, lower half grinding down on his crotch.
"fuck, princess, you're so beautiful."
the action has you seeing stars, pure bliss fuelling your veins which keeps you going on and on and on. every drag gets you higher and god does it feel good. when his lips find yours again his thrusts meet you halfway, sinful moans getting swallowed by the wet muscle exploring the vast of your mouth. his taste is your favourite flavor yet.
you well and truly lost it when his dominance takes over. "you're tired hmm? it's okay princess let me take care of you." the flex of his thigh and the way he's pressing you down so that your clit rubs deliciously against the material of his pants has you keening. the words slipping out of his mouth are downright filthy, the knot in your stomach so awfully tight you're afraid it'll snap without caution.
"b-bin- changbin please.."
the audacity of this man to send you a devilish smirk after all you did was be a good girl for him.
"please what, princess? you're so pretty begging for me like this aren't you?"
his praises, god his praises could send you to heaven and back. you live off of him being proud of you, complimenting you as if you're fully his. he owns you. all of you.
"please.. don't s-stop. ah i'm so close. p-please."
"since you asked so nicely."
one strong pull and you're spurting hot white fluid all over his thigh. your newly bought lace panties, needless to say is drenched and ruined from the intense orgasm you had but fuck was it worth it. he chuckles when you pant, soothing you through your high with more praises that has you whimpering for more.
"sensitive are we princess?"
you blush bright red as he takes a good look at you, the condition you're in making you avoid eye contact in embarrassment. hiding your face in his chest, he runs his fingers through your hair and laughs when you hum appreciatively.
"cute."
then you realise the rest of the the room is empty except for the both of you. for once you're actually glad jisung hosted this party because his huge mansion has plenty of rooms to occupy. the door though, is left wide open. so much for privacy.
"do you still hate me?"
he asks out of the blue, catching you completely off guard. you lean back and stare up at him, tilting your head as if he's just asked something ridiculous. he chuckles again, seeming whipped at how cute you were being in response to his question.
"i've never hated you."
"really? then why do you get mad when i flirt with you?"
"because!!!!"
fuck, this is not a post sex kind of conversation.
"because you flirt with literally everyone, bin. i wanted to hide the fact that i do like you so i pretended i didn't."
you expected him to say sorry for playing with your feelings, or at least apologise for giving you mixed signals but all he does is smile sheepishly.
"what? why are you smiling?"

Hey guys! I’m the one who wrote about the Zanessa ff (about getting back together and having a son named Gregory David). I’m still writting it and it will be huge. I written in italian cause is my native language BUT I will post the ff on Wattpad and I will traslate it in english too (probably this Summer). But here is one of my fav part that I written from chapther 12. Sorry for the grammar and the errors. I tried my best to traslate it. :)
-Zac? -.
The girl narrowed her eyes to fight against the darkness of the room. In the twilight of the evening, at the front door, there was Zac: he seemed soaking wet and, for a moment, the girl wondered why. There was no sign of rain outside. Then he came closer and a strong smell of beer mixed with wisky invaded her nostrils.
-Zac, what you want? Are you drank?-.
Vanessa sighed. She didn’t want to be offensive to him, but she didn’t really understand why the hell he had come to her house at that time of night. And the fact that he was her friend aain now and he had been drinking worried her a lot.
-I didn’t drink- he mumbled - it’s all Dylan’s fault-..
The young man clapped his hand and the entrance lights came on revealing a Vanessa in a nightgown and a Zac wearing jeans and a white T-shirt. The boy’s clothes were wet with alcohol.
Vanessa blinked a couple of times like she was giving time to her brain to work out that vision: her ex mumbling meaningless sentences in the living room of her house.
-How … how did you get into my house? - she asked, blushing. She didn’t know why, but she felt uncomfortable wearing just a night robe.
-Your security code-
-My what? -
Zac grinned.
-Van, your gate has had the same security code for almost five years. Don’t you think it’s time to change it? -
-Have you really do… did it? What do you want Zac? - she repeated. How the hell did he remember his security code?
-I’m not drunk, if that’s what you think- he stated firmly, completely ignoring her previous question.
-You smell like alcohol- she wrinkled her nose, but her heart began to beating fast: she was worried actually. She didn’t want to see Zac again in those conditions. It made her feel bad.
-Dylan and I had a fight- Zac stared at the floor -and he spilled his drink on me. I got angry and he locked me out of my house, so I don’t know … I came here. Sorry I … I couldn’t go to Ash and Chris, they worry too much about me-.
Vanessa’s anger evaporated suddenly: Zac was intimidated by her. She ran into the bathroom and got a couple of clean towels.
-Come here … - she said to Zac, holding out a towel and passing it over his soaked hair.
Zac closed his eyes, getting lost in her touch. How far had it come? He didn’t want to mess up with Vanessa’s life, but he couldn’t help it. He felt he had to justify himself in some way, he felt he had to say anything that made him appear less messed up in the eyes of what he considered the perfect woman.
-I … - he approached his and hands on hers - I’m not the same person as in the past and not even the one you’ve seen in these months . I’m trying to do my best Nessa. Things didn't go exactly as I wanted . My life is not all roses and flowers-.
-Zac, you don’t have to prove anything to me-
-Yes but…-
-No … what … why did you fight with Dyl ? -
-Oh- Zac suddenly darkened -he claims that I have to stop wasting time and find a girl, as if it changed things. He knows I won’t find Miss Perfection in a blink of a eye!-. Zac raised with his finger Vanessa’s chin so she could look him in the face - I already met her , and I let her go. And now my life has changed so much that I don’t know how I could ever get her back -.
Vanessa blinked and looked away from him. She could feel Zac’s electric gaze all over her body. She wasn’t surprised by his words. But she couldn’t even understand exactly how they made her feel. Zac was obviously talking about her. About her and him and how they’d changed over the years. Vanessa knew her ex was right. His life had changed… And hers changed too.
“ How do you know you already met the right person?” whispered Vanessa.
Zac swallowed.
-I just know it. It’s enough, ok ? -.
Vanessa looked again in his eyes. He was there, in front of her, completely drenched in alcohol blathering meaningless sentences. And than she was here… her legs went soft and the girl’s heart began to beating fast.
The dark blue in the young mans eyes had softened somewhat with a color he was most familiar with. Those eyes had drawn his gaze on more occasions than she could count, yet hse remembered each of them.
-How? - she asked, big tears were forming unexpectedly in her deep dark eyes.
-Destiny- the boy shrugged - faith, God, the Universe. Call it what you want Van. I just know it. I know you were that kind of person and I … and I let you go like an idiot . In all these years there has not been a day when I have not regretted it . I had faith in us. I took it for granted. I lost you and I lost faith in almost everything else . You were the first love of my life and … after you I couldn’t love anyone else. I let you go and cursed myself for it. I know I was in love with you since I saw you at that premiere “Thunderbird”, by the way you treated the fans and your friends. And when I met you again for the audfition of High School Musical I told myself that I would never let you go . Because from the moment I told you the first I love you I knew that nothing would have been so bad in life, that nothing bad would be ever happened to me because I had you. And after that day at Ashley and Chris’ house. Van, after that day I think this is it. I think it is a sign of destiny again -.
He took a deep breath and take a step back away from her.
Vanessa stared at him as petrified. She didn’t know what to say. She had heard every word, but it was as if her brain refused to accept it. Did Zac really make a declaration of love to her?
-I think … I think you have to go now-.
He moved away from her, squeezing the wet towel tightly .
-Van … Van I ’m so sorry … -.
Zac felt his mouth kneaded. He knew he had ruined everything with his speech. God! It was an idiot. he was a fool for thinking that Vanessa still felt something for him.
-No , you really should go now-.
-Listen … - Zac tried to touch her again, but the girl backed away.
-No you listen- the brunette’s tone of voice suddenly became serious -you can’t go to my house at this hour of the night. You are fucking drunk and you tell me these things. You can’t, it’s not fair. I have been your friend in these months, I made you confidences and your only thought was this? You used me and you used Austin-
“It wasn’t my intention to become his friend,” hissed Zac. Now he was getting nervous.
-I wasn’t the one who dragged you to Ashley’s house that day. I am not the one who called you for hanging out and having dinner wirth your so fucking perfect blonde boyfriend! I’m not the one who wanted to meet Stella again. You give me hope and now do you want to tell me that you haven’t felt anything in these months? -
-You are not my boyfriend anymore! i have Austin now and he makes me happy! Is absurd! It’s absurd! - Vanessa didn’t want to raise her voice, but she was doing it.
The brunette raised her arms in surrender and tried to march towards the door, but Zac stood before her.
-I’m not done … - he hissed through gritted teeth - don’t you remember? Was our five years of relationship a joke for you? Fuck, I was your first time! -
-Zac … no … -
-I was your first time, we grew up together, we bought a house together. We were happy! And for a very disgusting doubt of jealousy we have screwed up everything! -
-It was not a doubt! I have not accused you of anything! I was no longer happy, I felt suffocated! -
-Have you ever thought about how I felt? Have you ever thought about how bad I was at the idea of losing you ?! No! Every time we were away from each other for a movie or theater production my heart literally broke up, but I had to do it! Maybe I was selfish, I thought about the career and not about us! But I was twenty-three! I was young and I was stupid and you practically condemned me and you refused to speak with me since that tall guy came on the scene!-
-You are the one who has practically ignored me for months! I sent you lot of texts and mails and you always refused to answer to me! -
-I didn’t want to see you with …-
-Well, it seems to me that you like my boyfriend a lot now -
Zac bit his tongue, but by now the words were coming out of his mouth like a flooding river. He had to let it out, he had to let it out because he’d been holding it all in for years.
-I did it for you! Fuck, I only did it to be with you again! To have you back in my life! -.
He had finally said it. For months he had carried that secret inside his chest, for months it had weighed on him like a boulder. Now he had finally got rid of it.
Zac felt himself die at the sight of Vanessa: she was giving him an almost disgusted look.
- So you pretended to be friends with Austin just to get to me ? ! You pretend for months to be his friend just because you wanted to take me to bed! -
-Oh please! That was the least of my thoughts! - he lied, looking down for half a second.
-Oh yeah … - she taunted him - and so why you have prepared all of this? Why did you make sure you were alone with me? -
-Because I missed you!- Zac sighed, approaching her. Now his breath was calm. His eyes were glued to Vanessa’s ones.
-I missed you so much that hurt like hell. So, I said to myself that I would become his friend if this was the only way to get you back in my life. At the beginning I didn’t want it, I hatted him for many reasons … but I understand why you fell in love with him. He’s a good guy … but your eyes … you’ve never looked at him like the way you looked at me .
-Stop it… - Vanessa blushed. She was slowly losing control and she didn't like it at all . She felt a familiar feeling of warmth spread throughout the body.
-I never loved anybody. None one, as I loved you- Zac whispered, getting closer and closer.
Vanessa could mirror herself in her ex’s sapphire blue eyes, she could count and how many breaths she took…. and then they kissed.
Vanessa moved away from the kiss.
-This is wrong…-
-What matter … - Zac whispered ,: his hands slipped in the hair of the girl and he smelled the sweet scent f lilac and coconut that he always turned it on -I never expected to meet you again and Ido not know what will happens tomorrow, but I know that I want to be with you-.
They kissed again, close to each other . Vanessa felt she had lost control as Zac’s powerful arms lifted her off the ground. A moment later they were in the bedroom.

Friday dawned with an overcast sky. The campers were all clearly unhappy about that, but they continued their activities as usual, hoping for no rain.
And they all loved Anna's braid. Especially when they saw the braid was the same as Elsa's; that drove them crazy. The sisters could see Olaf straining to say things, but apparently, their reprimand had at least temporarily headed him off from saying things like "marriage" in reference to the two of them. Instead he simply told Anna that she looked pretty with Elsa's braid and asked Elsa when she was going to copy Anna's usual hairstyle.
While their interactions were nowhere near as frequent or friendly as the last few days, Anna was relieved that her sister was at least talking to her. Even if it was just to briefly comment on her braid and to explain what that day's agendas were. However, to keep her distance from Elsa, Anna kept herself as busy as possible with the kids, patiently allowing them to play with her braid and helping them with whatever problems they were having.
It was nearing noon and while the sky was still gray and dreary, there was a brief glimpse of the sun peeking through the clouds. Their group were inside the crafts building again, but instead of birdhouses and clay, the kids were all making hats and tie-dyeing shirts. The room was filled with chatter and a mix of colour that brought life where the sky was dull.
Anna stood near the back wall to watch, arms crossed and a slight smile on her lips as she watched Elsa show some of the kids the various ways to dye the shirts. Her hands gestured so emphatically that Anna could even tell what she was demonstrating from across the room. When one of the little girls raised up her shirt to ask a question, she patted her on the head, and the girl beamed with gratitude.
A minute or so later, Elsa approached her spot by the wall, face completely passive. Leaning up against it a foot or so away, she observed, "You've been quiet today."
"Yeah, sorry." Anna subconsciously began to fidget with her hands. She smiled at Elsa but she couldn't help feeling a touch nervous under those bright blue eyes. "I'm just a little tired today, that's all."
"Oh. Well… I guess."
Anna felt a tug on her shirt and almost sighed in relief when she looked down to see Max, one of the camp owner's kids, standing in front of her with a sheepish grin. "Hmm?"
"Miss Anna, can you help me with my hat?" She ruffled his hair and nodded, watching him as he dashed back to his table before walking after him with an apologetic look towards Elsa.
She ended up staying there for a bit, watching as Elsa went back to helping the kids, however there was a slight frown gracing her beautiful features that made Anna's gut twist in guilt. She didn't mean to lie, but she wasn't sure how else to respond to the question without making the kids curious.
~ o ~
Elsa didn't try again until they were in the mess hall for supper. She had apparently been chewing on what she would say all throughout the entire crafts activity, because she spoke as if there had been no gap in their conversation.
"Of course you're tired. Where… did you sleep last night?"
The question made her blink in surprise. She was sitting alone today, seeing as Rapunzel was busy elsewhere, and hadn't expected her sister to join her. "I stayed with Rapunzel," she answered, lowering her gaze to her platter. "Her roomie, Snow, was sleeping over with the other girls so Punzie offered her bed to me. Snow was surprisingly nice about it this morning, too," she sighed slightly. "Did… you sleep okay?"
"No. I didn't. Too many thoughts running around in my head." She moved around to sit, even though she had been waiting before. Apparently, Anna's not asking her to leave was approval enough. "I have a feeling I… didn't say the right things last night. When you told me."
Anna's guilt returned tenfold at the almost casual way Elsa admitted her bad night. She wanted to shrink under the piercing gaze, feeling worse as she reflected that while Anna had Rapunzel, Elsa had no one to turn to since Anna had selfishly ran from her.
"I-I'm sorry," she managed to whisper. She heard the scrape of the chair across from her as Elsa settled down. "W-What did you mean to say?" The words came out of a tight throat and Anna fiddled with her fork, too ashamed and too guilty to look her sister in the eyes.
"I… wouldn't know, Anna. This isn't something I've ever had to talk about before. So… I think it's really unfair for you to have expected me to answer correctly the first time, don't you?"
"I don't expect you to answer 'correctly'…" Anna sighed and forced herself to eat a bit of the food despite the knots in her stomach. "I just… want some reassurance that you won't hate me, that's all. That you won't do what our mom did." She didn't like saying that, admitting it out loud still stung. "I love you, Elsa, and I can't… I wouldn't be able to deal with you hating me. I'm so sorry for leaving you last night but I just got so scared…"
Looking down at her tray for a few seconds, Elsa finally whispered, "You didn't give me a chance. You just… just dropped this bombshell on me, and then ran. Maybe I have no idea what I could have said, maybe I messed up my words, but how could I do any better with you gone?"
Anna hung her head in shame. "I'm sorry," she apologised, "I didn't… I remember you always liked to be alone to think about stuff, and I was scared that I- I would just… be a distraction, and we would fight and-" She stopped herself from finishing that sentence. "So I left to give us space to think about it. I'm sorry..."
The other sister didn't respond for a minute, opting to take a few bites of her food. Her hand was shaking as she lifted the fork up to her mouth, chest rising and falling too rapidly. Anna almost began to worry she was having an attack of some kind when she finally spoke up again, voice barely a whisper.
"You're probably right. About me needing time. But you left too early. I… I didn't… I had questions. They might have been stupid, or cruel. But I had them, and no one to ask them to." Then she set down the fork and grunted in frustration, "This is going nowhere; I keep blaming you for being scared when I don't mean to, and… and that isn't fair. I just want you to understand how I was feeling yesterday, too, that's all. Do you?"
"I literally just crapped on an entire lifetime's worth of teachings, Elsa," Anna said softly. "Trust me, I've been there, too. Luckily, Papa has been nothing but supportive of me. He never held any disdain for gay people and he always told me that my… 'lifestyle' doesn't make me any less of a person or any less of a Christian." She looked down. "But you, you were raised under the firm belief that we're bad people, and to learn that I'm one of those bad people was probably a bitter enough pill to swallow without me running off like that…"
"Anna… of course I don't hate you." Her eyes were clear and intense when Anna glanced up at them, gazing directly into Anna's. "Actually, I'm pretty hurt you think I could. Even when I thought you were ignoring me for five years, when I resented that… I still didn't hate you over it. Why should this be any different?"
"I- I just love you so much..." Anna's confession was a whisper and she had a hard time keeping Elsa's intense gaze. "I- I couldn't help but worry about the chance." She didn't mention that a large part of her hesitation had to do with their mother's actions. She wanted to reach out and hold her sister close but she hesitated, unsure where they stood. It was such a tremendous relief to know Elsa didn't hate her that Anna's tense shoulders almost completely relaxed, but she was still not too certain how welcome her touch would be.
"You really do, don't you?" Elsa's question was fragile and small. "I… wish I had never questioned it. I wish I could say that, but I can't. Because after the first few years…" Now she was looking down at the table, throat tight. "Did… you not want to talk to me all this time… because of this? Because you were afraid I wouldn't love you anymore, like you were afraid last night?"
"I told you, all I wanted more than anything was to talk to you." Anna bit her lip in frustration. "I- I admit I'm not sure I would've admitted my sexuality right away, but I would never just completely shut you out of my life! I tried so hard to contact you and I have no idea how to prove that!"
"Yeah, you said. About the picture." Suddenly, almost as if from nowhere — but obviously they had been building all along — tears were sliding down her cheeks as she hissed, "But what possible reason would Mama have to do this?! It's crazy! I know she hates Papa now from how she talks about him, I know that, but she doesn't ever talk about you at all! Not unless I bring you up! A-and you're so sweet, and kind, and every bit the sister I remember, so I just don't understand this! I'm s-so confused, and I don't know what to believe!"
"I don't know, Elsa." Seeing Elsa break down in front of her was one of the most painful sights Anna has ever seen and without another word, she stood up and walked around the table to her sister. She kneeled in front of her and embraced her tightly. "All I know for sure is that I want nothing more than to be with you… We're together now, and if you're willing, then I never want you out of my life again." She squeezed her as tightly as she could. "I think Mama cut off contact between us because she doesn't want my homosexuality rubbing off on you… I mean, she wouldn't want two gay kids, right? Why would she want that sinner tainting her only good daughter?"
"Shut up. You aren't 'bad', you aren't…" After a few seconds, Elsa's crying quieted. At first, Anna thought she was feeling better, but that hope faded when she whispered in a tight voice, "Are… you sure? That was… that was why?"
She tightened her grip and squeezed her eyes shut to keep her tears from spilling out, as well. "I've been thinking this over for hours, and that's the only thing I can think of that makes sense. She doesn't hate Papa like he thought, it's me..." She let out a soft sound that was stuck between a sob and a sigh. "I don't know Mama as well anymore so I can't say for sure… but I do know Mama freaked when I told her I kissed a girl. What else should I think?"
"When…" Clearing her throat, she pulled back to stare into Anna's face. Hers was full of a kind of dread, maybe even nausea. "When did you tell her about kissing a girl?"
"Remember when I told you about Mulan?" At the sight of Elsa's nod, Anna continued, "Mama called that night and I was just so… I dunno, confused but also kind of elated. A-And I told Mama about it because I was thirteen and wanted to share this weird, new development with her. She lost it, Elsa! Screamed and yelled, and called me all sorts of cruel things until Papa took the phone from me to diffuse the situation." Anna shuddered. "Summer just started, I remember that because Mulan left for a trip to visit relatives in her homeland in June and she kissed me the day she left."
But Anna could tell Elsa hadn't taken much of it in. Her entire face, her posture, everything about her was numb. It would have seemed like a bad omen for their relationship if the next thing Elsa did was anything else, but what she did was reach up to lay her hand on Anna's neck, stroking up and down affectionately.
"Thirteen," she rasped out dully. "Five years ago… right before…"
Anna nodded, relishing the warmth of Elsa's hand on her neck. She held Elsa even tighter. "We were supposed to visit that summer, remember? B-But Papa had to cancel the trip because he was scared of how Mama would react if she saw me… it took Mama six months before she would talk to me again."
"She did? What did she say when she would? What happened? Oh God…" Clearly, Elsa was on the verge of losing mental integrity, but she was trying to hold out long enough to hear Anna's full story. To get every piece of information into place.
"She didn't really say anything? If I asked about you, she would avoid the question or tell me you were too busy to talk and if I tried talking to her she would… she would talk about the scriptures or make general small talk rather than tell me about how you and her were doing. I mean, besides 'fine', for how much that counts. There were a few times she asked if I had 'purged the evil from my soul'… and when I didn't answer, she would hang up. But she would always call at the same time every week and would answer my calls so I had no reason to believe anything was out of the ordinary besides the fact that she never really acted like Mama anymore and that you wouldn't talk to me."
Elsa blinked a few times as Anna rubbed her shoulders, nodded, and sat blinking for a few seconds longer. Then she whispered, "Anna, I am… I still don't understand all of this, but I'm sorry that you were ever given the impression that I was too busy for you. Or that I would stop loving you just because you like women. I still don't understand that, but it's not the same as me giving up on you completely. I…" Her lip quivered. "I'm glad you're back in my life, okay?"
"I'm glad you're back in mine, too, Elsie. So glad!" Anna choked on a sob as she pressed her face into Elsa's to give her a kiss on the cheek, her arms around the older girl shaking from the onslaught of emotion and love that overwhelmed her. "T-Thank you."
Elsa nodded against her face, clinging to her hard. They sniffled and clung to each other, lost in the heartache and sadness. The spell was eventually broken by a quiet, sweet voice.
"Are you two alright over here?"
When they drew back enough to look, it was to see Snow's cherubic little face blinking down at them in concern. Anna reluctantly pulled away from Elsa, resting a hand on her cheek and using her thumb to carefully wipe the winter blonde's tears away. Anna let out a sigh.
"We're fine, Snow... we just…" She didn't know how to explain the situation so she trailed off and just looked at Elsa, who was smiling through her bleary, wrung-out expression. She felt much better than she had starting the day, but she knew that their talk wasn't quite over yet.
"We needed to get some stuff out, that's all," she finally managed to finish. That would have to do.
To Be Continued...
