BEAU IS AFRAID- 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The strangest movie of the year.

A bizarre three hour comedy starring Joaquin Pheonix as Beau.

Beau lives inside a nightmare. No matter what he does, everything goes wrong for him in the worst way imaginable. He lives in constant fear of everything and everyone.

All his issues seem to go back to his troubled relationship with his mother who was recently decapitated by a falling chandelier.

The film is about Beau attempting to get back home for her funeral.

A very interesting film. Didnt enjoy it as much as Ari Aster's first two films Hereditary and Midsommar but liked a lot of it.

Its confusing and frustrating but also has some genuinely hilarious moments that you wont see in any other films. Although not a horror film it has a creepy hellish atmosphere i really liked. I did find that the movie is split into different sections, and some of them i liked a lot more than others so the films quite uneven. But its a real rollercoaster ride. Very ambitious and very weird.

10/10 Bill Hader cameo.

Parker plays Elaine Bray. Elaine and Beau met as children and hes been in love with her ever since. I was getting a little impatient waiting for her appearance. You only see her briefly when Beau is watching the news, then the younger version of her, then the dream version of her where face is distorted. When she finally enters the movie fully though i couldnt have been happier. This is Parker's best film appearance in years. She was absolutely amazing. I was so surprised by the sex scene i didnt expect that at all. She worked well with Joaquin who she previously co-starred in "Irrational Man" with. This is her first film role in four years and im glad shes back to doing what she does best. Stealing scenes and looking totally cute.

Shin Kamen Rider looks fucking crazy so thats def on my list. John Wick 4 also looks awesome. Last Voyage of the Demeter I'm cautiously optimistic for because the director did Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe (not great films, but interesting ones). Oh yeah and the Ari Aster movie with Joaquin Pheonix looks good. Idk I just like talking to people.

"elemental" characters and oh god why the fuck is it so obvious when the series makes it seem like it's supposed to be a mystery

this is a silly little rant/whatever about how series' (specifically in the gacha community) always make it so obvious who is who like bro

the characters always look something lke this and like

it's always bad boy x bad girl and then soft girl x soft boy because ofc there's romance (nothing wrong with romance but it's in like every glmm/gls like this istg) and it's so obvious with the names and designs that forrest = plant/nature winter = ice/water ash = dark or smthn pheonix = fire cries there's actually usually more but i don't wanna spend like an hour making characters for this shit oh yeah they're also almost always white

and then there's my ocs

they're a bit more subtle also these are slightly older designs, they don't look exactly like this flint and luna are not as subtle but eh the rest i think are harder to figure out, at least without the last names Ace Foris = plant/nature Crystal Conmara = water/ice Flint Eld = fire Celeste Aelius = light/sun Luna Aster = dark/moon

oh also usually the series' follow like the fire one or the dark one or the super all powerful every element one give some love to the plant people and the water people and whatever else also i have more poc ocs in the series, these are just the ones i have made in gacha club rn and i am not spending 4 hours trying to remake my other ocs in gacha club because that's just painful

idk where this is even going just a character design pet peeve and also a bit of a writing pet peeve

because bro the plot is always the same like 2 plots

plot one: Character is invited to a super hard to get in school filled with magical people, they run into someone super poweful and are like just yelled at, and then they go to class or smthn. Some event causes them to set out on a quest to find other elemental people and it usually involves unlocking powers or finding crystals that unlock said powers; said crystals are usually "bonded" with respective character. Elemental group then defeats some evil villian that was trying to stop them from having powers or like trying to harvest the powers or whatever.

plot two: Group of friends or siblings are actually like elemental powered people. They have to unlock their powers or find some crystal that gives them their powers. They are of course destined to have the crystal. Some big bad trys to stop them from getting the crystals or tries to take them away. Group wins. Yayyyyyyyy
