👑 Canute isn’t specially fan of the lovers’ day, but he knows how much you like it, therefore, he has prepared a great day for you. You decide to breakfast low quantity because Canute will take you out to eat, you don’t know where he will take you. It’s a surprise. Before to go you take the chocolate that yesterday you cooked for him.

👑 You aren’t a genius in the kitchen but you have cooked some tasty chocolate bonbon.

👑 Canute is punctual, he knocks at the door and he hands you a pink camellia, you put it in a vase with water of your bedroom. Later you leave your house.

👑 Canute blindfolds your eyes and he takes you in car during a long time until he stops. When you leave, you find a beautiful panorama, Canute carries you a hill where you can see all city, behind you there is a forest, you can smell the birch aroma.

👑 But, this doesn’t end here. Canute takes you a clearing where there is a picnic. The own Canute has cooked for you. It’s so beautiful and the lunch is so tasty. After finishing, You give him the chocolate, Canute smiles you and he eats some bonbons and congratulates you because they are very tasty. You clean his corner lips of chocolate and he kisses you.

👑 During all afternoon you talk with him of a lot of things, how start to life together because each one’s flat is pretty small and you need more space. You stay until the twilight hide between the buildings and colours of orange the clouds.

👑 Later, both return at your home, where you and Canute watch a movie cover of blanket surrounded of chocolate and some popcorn. 🔪 In the morning, you receive a big package, you unfold it and find it’s a red and elegant dress. Doesn’t have sender, but inside there is a note, a letter for you which says: “Wear it this night”. You laugh, it’s Askeladd’s handwrite. You knows Askeladd doesn’t like Valentine’s Day because he says it’s a scam, but latter, he always makes an effort for surprise you. And you try the dress and suit you at perfection.

🔪 You’re nervous because you thought he doesn’t do anything for this day.

🔪 So, when arrive the seven o’clock, Askeladd too does it. He wears elegant but informal, with a jacket of tuxedo, a rose in his hand and a smile in his mouth. You put the flower on a glass and leave of your home taking the arm of Askeladd.

🔪 He takes you to the restaurant you wanted go months ago, but always was full. You don’t know how Askeladd gets a place in that restaurant. Also, he has get a private zone, he raises an eyebrow and smiles you when he move your chair for you sit. The recipes they honour their reputation, are really tasty. Askeladd smiles when you enjoy the night out.

🔪 After finishing, Askeladd takes you to see the stars, in a far place, far away of the city. He brings a blanket for you can lie down over the grass and watch the constellations. You explain each one to Askeladd, he listens you while caresses your hair, your head rest in his chest and his beard caresses your temple. He caresses your waist, too. When you start to yawn and be cold, he puts his jacket in your shoulders and takes you back your home.

🔪 During the route, between doze you listen him sing in Welsh, he moves away a lock that falls in your face and puts it behind your ear. You return him the smile. He accompanies you until the door, but you grab his jacket lapel and kiss him. Between kisses you and Askeladd end at your bed.

on the one hand i am in absolute awe of this brilliantly written little guy who is definitely one of the most fascinating and intriguing characters i've met in a while and he's just a joy to think about and analyze and has everything i could ask for but also on the other hand i'm frothing at the mouth screaming crying throwing up clawing my eyes out and every other unhinged reaction you can think of because hngn. (this is the sound i make trying not to yell every time i think about him)

Idea for a story

this modern au shitpost i whipped up when i was sick but also i might write a fic to the song Leave Everything Behind by Amaranthe, i was thinking pov thorfinn and have him look at askeladd from the outside and try to understand his moral code and his view on freedom

okay so due to me not being up to date on both the show and the manga i'm not very involved in the fandom and i'm not sure what are popular and what are unpopular opinions. an opinion i have is that if bjorn had still been alive by the end of s1 askeladd wouldn't have sacrificed himself right then and there but again no idea how popular that is

Big question I have: who are your top 10 favourite Awakening characters from the First Generation and why?

This one will be fun :D also same disclaimer I always say: these aren’t in any particular order except for number one, because he really is number one.

That’s pretty much how all my lists go, lol.

Priam. This man is perfect and wonderful in so many ways; before I played Awakening, I watched all the confessions of the male characters, saw him, and went “THAT ONE. HE’S THE ONE .” He left me smitten even before I knew anything about him, like him being Ike’s descendent, and I’ve always been drawn more towards the “Avatarsexuals”. The game always tries to play him off as annoying, but he’s just incredibly passionate about gaining strength. He’s actually pretty passionate about everything he does, especially when he confesses that he’s fallen in love with you. His confession portrait has to be one of the most romantic in the game:

Priam is a hulking beast of a warrior but here, he’s kneeling down in front of you, having taken his gloves off so he can hold your hand in his (no one else does this by the way) while he gazes adoringly into your eyes. Combine that with how powerful and handsome he is, he’s my ultimate husband choice in Awakening. The only downside is how far in the game he is before you can recruit him (Chapter 25) but he’s worth it.

2. Aversa. I like a lot of SpotPass characters, and I like Aversa for her extra lore. Most people hate the SpotPass characters for turning the villains “good”, but I think it’s neat that the bad guys help defeat the TRUE villain pulling the strings (and it’s not like bad guys like Validar became good). Aside from that, Aversa is actually a sweetheart who struggles with making friends because she feels like she doesn’t deserve it (in her supports with M!Robin at least). It definitely makes her one of the more interesting female Awakening characters.

3. Vaike. WHEN, IS??? WHEN ARE WE GETTING TEACH??? Here’s hoping he’s not a demote when we get him… he’s a cool dude and his support with Sully is actually pretty touching, they were made for each other.

4. Frederick. I think Frederick (along with Dedue) is actually one of the nicer vassal characters in Fire Emblem, because Jakob can kind of be an asshole sometimes and Hubert is… Hubert. He’s diligent, cares about others, and holds the Shepherds together.

5. Gregor. The dude is SO overlooked as “haha funny Russian man” despite the fact that he’s powerful as fuck and even could have been a Khan of Regna Ferox if he wanted to. And RESOURCEFUL, the fact that he knew how to do Cordelia’s makeup is impressive. Plus I think he’s the best dad for Severa (I actually headcanon that Severa is bilingual in Gregor’s homeland tongue and it comes out when she’s pissed off at something or someone). Great dude and I’m glad he got added to FEH.

6. Gangrel. I said it. He works great as an antagonist and he’s a fun ally with a fascinating backstory (he kind of reminds me of Askeladd from Vinland Saga). It’s actually really sad to me that he dies a horrible death if he doesn’t support with F!Robin, I’d have liked for him to have loved to do SOMETHING.

7. Kellam. NO END. I’VE HEARD NO END TO THE INVISIBILITY JOKES. I GET IT. I will ALWAYS acknowledge my boy. He’s such a sweetheart and I adore his support with Olivia. He better get a prf when he gets added to FEH or I will riot.

8. Panne. She turns into a bunny. I like her.

But also she has a great backstory.

9. Virion. Ok yes he’s silly and goofy and flirts with anything that looks remotely female and walks on two legs. But if you read his Support with F!Robin (definitely one of the most sincere supports of the game in my opinion), he’s actually a very noble and caring guy. Especially during one of the DLCs where he sells an heirloom dagger for an old couple who was sick, and refuses to be acknowledged in any way or form for doing so. He’s got a great heart.

10. Mustafa. Does this count? Probably not but I wanna give him a shoutout anyways. I’m mad that HE wasn’t a SpotPass character, as cool as Walhart was, I would have preferred Mustafa. At least he got added to FEH, I’ll take what I can get.

Special additional shoutouts to Olivia, Sully, Lon’qu, and Yen’fey, they’re also really cool. I do like the other characters (especially Maribelle’s support where she knows how to talk like a sailor) but I’d prioritize these guys on the list.

here's a little write - up of important thorfinn tidbits & events, that i especially find major for my characterization, for anyone who may be interested in plotting soon or who may like future starter calls [ if you're unfamiliar with the story in any capacity ] !

thorfinn, born in 996, is the youngest child of the great jomsviking commander & warrior, thors snorresson [ "troll of jom" ]. his father faked his death & migrated to iceland for a better, calmer life. there he & thorfinn's mother, helga, gave birth to him.

at the age of six it's revealed that thors' former allies learned he was still alive & approached him, stating they will being out to war & he is to join them. thorfinn, being the most skilled in the village, wanted to join his father at battle, telling thors he's fit to fight because of his natural skill eyed by the other men around him. although being told no, thorfinn sneaks onto the ship anyway.

whilst at sea, a danish commander, askeladd takes thors' life in front of thorfinn's eyes. it's then thorfinn sets his mission that for as long as he breathes he will behead askeladd & avenge his father's death. this is the entirety of thorfinn's boyhood, nearly an entire decade with just the intent to murder, nothing but blood on his hands, on his face, in his mouth, & on his blades.

to do this thorfinn essentially lives with askeladd & his band, waiting at askeladd's hand & foot off & on battle. [ this basically entails thorfinn doing askeladd's dirty work; beheading men, stealing jewels, setting villages aflame, being overall mischievous & troublesome. he becomes numb to this ritual, the pain absolutely nothing to him ]; this is because he always let's thorfinn know that for any task he achieves, he will have the chance to duel with him, which is thorfinn's ultimate goal, at the end of the day. [ * it's kind of fun to note here that thorfinn is canonically very short. around five foot one / five foot two. so imagine you see this little boy on the field, around sixteen - eighteen, with death in his eyes killing grown men with ease. terrifying ]

during these many tasks of receiving riches, losing duels against askeladd, missing his father, & beheading literal commanders of rival teams; thorfinn is asked to watch over a meek, mute prince again his will [ prince, later king, canute; ruler of denmark & england ]. this is all askeladd's doing that has major consequences at the end but i'm not writing thorfinn at that time so it doesn't matter for this blog, not right now <3

random important personality points: thorfinn is extremely hot - headed & rude. childhood aside, he has raised himself & hasn't had any positive figures in his life since his father. this is a boy who taught himself to fight & can kill animals with ease in order to survive.

thorfinn can be selective when he speaks. not mute like canute, but selfish when it comes to his voice. but when he speaks, he speaks.

he's canonically extremely fast. it's one of the first thing people notice about him when he fights. he knows how to angle his body to take less hits &, again in canon, has taken up to 100 punches & was still standing, bruised & bloody, because he's a true warrior.

his family, & everyone in the village, those who remember him, all think he's dead. the last time they saw him was before his father was set to war when he was six. they had no idea he snuck onto the boat with him. in many aus & modern interpretations i have him set as an orphan.

HEADCANON: he's really just a troubled, traumatized baby, tbfh. there's an entire scene where he loses a duel to askeladd & he's so disappointed in himself he becomes a sulking mess. instead of joining dinner with everyone else he sits on his father's ship, in the snow, wrapped in a blanket, seeing astral projection - like images of him & his father when he was a child. his walls are up extremely high & i bet he wishes he could talk to someone about all of this without having to be in fight mode 24/7. just look at him:

Askeladd is made aware of how he is nothing to you but a character in a story. He is your favorite character in the story. He smirks every time he sees you reading the manga or fanfiction with him as the main protagonist. He flexes the muscles underneath his breastplate and other armor during the edits that you watch, just to make you flush extra hard. He has always loved making the lads and maidens light-headed with embarrassment and flirtatiousness.

So, of course, he teases you just a little bit.

"Like what you see, love?"

You are in shock as you hear his voice through the edit. However, he has never said that in the anime. Perhaps it was a voice actor or an AI voice that said that line for some reason. You shake it off and continue on with your day. That one line is playing through your head throughout the day. Even if he isn't real, Askeladd is definitely a hot Viking man.

You end up aimlessly flipping through the manga the next night with that one in mind. It's just normal, so why did it sound so tender and loving when he said it? You open up to them when they are in Gorms village. You see Askeladd with his shirt off near a fireplace, drinking a horn of mead. He wears only his leather slacks as he leans against his bed frame with his muscles flexing. That wasn't in the story! You shut it quickly and opened it up, only to see him looking at you now with his trademark smirk on him. Over the next couple of days, you look through the manga once again, and that page has disappeared. I told you that he just loves to taunt you.

Askeladd knows that he knows, but you don't know that he is self-aware. So he does the most to be subtle enough for you not to know that he is self-aware but noticeable enough that you end up blushing and flustered by his teasing compliments and obvious flirtations. He manipulates the panels to show himself in his daily life. He'll even flirt with village women to see how you react. He always has a laugh out of panel and plots out of panel what he should do next to make you flustered.

Bjorn is very confused when Askeladd says that he is courting someone. "Who?" He shrugs his shoulders and is very secretive about being self-aware. He is possessive over you, as you are his reader... his lad/maiden/gentlethem. Askeladd is able to be considered a gentle yandere. He is gentle and flirtatious towards you, but he is still manipulative and possessive.

You may not realize this yet, but he is the love of your life, and one day God's will bless him by taking you into his world. He just knows it.

I just had a heartbreaking thought (a new headcanon)

You know how Askeladd just casually tells Bjorn to pop Thorfinn’s shoulder back into place when he lost to him in Gorm’s village, and Bjorn does it without hesitation, like he’s used to it. So what if Bjorn ALWAYS was the one to treat whatever wounds Thorfinn would get after a duel? (At least the kind of wounds that Thorfinn couldn’t fix by himself.)

And what if, after that last duel where he got beat up so bad, he walked around, his thoughts all blurring together, being totally out of it, and he wondered why Bjorn wasn’t coming to help him… forgetting that wasn’t around to do that anymore…
