this tweet is accurate but it actually demonstrates part of why i dislike the movie. bc adam drivers story is obviously the main plot of the movie but almost all of it is told just off camera left with no real fill-ins on what you missed meanwhile a ton of screentime is spent on this much more entertaining and messy family drama thats almost chaotic enough to overcome the weird acting and dialogue. but thats really just meant to be like. context. worldbuilding with only a few moments that directly build up adam drivers side of the plot in any way. so you're like well why am i even watching all of this. its somehow both pointless and the only part of the movie thats even a little bit good.

theres also a point in the movie where he gets arrested and beat up in jail and he is so depressed he loses the ability to stop time and then later his girlfriend convinces him to try again to stop time for her and he does it and theres this big music swell its handled like a big arc was just overcome. the problem is that there is no story between these scenes theyre only separated by like 5 minutes of unrelated scenes about other characters.
