what are the best sites to watch kdrama?

The best source for watching k-dramas international is Viki.com. Sure, it’s a wonky app, and you have to pay to watch the most recent airing shows without commercials, but it’s a legit platform with an app so you can watch it on TV as well as your phone and pc. It has the most variety and even though it’s a little slow sometimes, Viki loves Asian dramas with a passion and you can tell. Also they are getting some of Drama Fever’s shows like Are you Human Too and The Best Hit so I’m excited for that (RIP DRAMAFEVER)

Netflix in the states and europe (I’m assuming you’re looking for english language sites with subs) has been working hard to catch up with Viki (or overtake them with their massive amount of money) and now has a lot to choose from. Some of my favorites like Chicago Typewriter and Oh My Ghostess are on there and they’re making great original shows like Kingdom that can only be watched there. Again, you have to pay for it.

KoreaOnDemand is great if you do not need subtitles. If you do, it’s pretty much a pass (some things are subbed but there is no tv app that works right).

And then there are all of the illegal sites. The ones you need pop up blockers for but are definitely worth using if you don’t have the money to pay for a service. The quality is usually lower and sometimes the subbing is real weird, but if I’m honest, Viki has really awkward subtitles sometimes lol. 

I do not like to direct link to illegal sites because I want them to stay where they are and not get flagged. So, just copy and paste these into the browser and usually the first link is the correct site.

Kissasian is my favorite to use because if you create a free account, you can download subbed episodes and watch them without ads, on your tv or laptop whenever you want regardless of wifi. 

Dramanice and asianfans are other great resources and they don’t have all of the creepy ads that other sites do. The downside is that they move around from server to server a LOT and their names change often. The upside is that the ads they force you to watch are usually hilariously low budget mostly local ads. If you don’t care about downloading shows and just want to stream them, I recommend these two.

Other similar free sites with a variety of sketchy servers to choose from are: Dramacool & taxiasian but you’ll choose one that you like the best :)

About the drama subtitles

First I'd like to say that I love and appreciate the work of people who translate anything especially if they are not getting paid for it.

But If you're like me and are bothered by the first translated line in the drama being "Wei WuXian is died!" there is an edited version of those subs available on asianfans. net.

I also love the people who took the time and corrected the grammar.

(I know my grammar is bad too so I like having a good example of how it should look in subtitles)

I'm really excited for this show ^u^

Is it worth having Netflix and Viki? Or is there a lot of duplicate shows?

Hmmm...I think it depends on how much you can afford and what you are looking for.

If you are primarily looking for k-dramas and c-dramas and want a wide range of choices, Viki is 100% better than Netflix. They have tons of airing titles as well as most of the popular shows from the past, while netflix k-dramas are cycled through, so some of them are on Netflix for a few months and then go away. 90% of my drama watching is on Viki.

Netflix for k-dramas only (they do have other good shows that aren’t k-dramas though), isn’t the best choice. They only have about 20-30 titles total (in the United States) and a lot of them are not the good ones. They are getting more high quality titles lately, but most of those are already on Viki. Netflix is funding their own k-dramas now, so there will be some dramas on Netflix that are not on Viki like: Extracurricular, Itaewon Class, Hospital Playlist and My Country but you could always watch those on a shady site like dramanice or asianfans if you can’t afford both. 

So basically for K-dramas: Viki.com 100%. Netflix is trying to compete but they aren’t really coming close...yet.
