His body aches. His muscles ache and his bones ache and his head ache and his heart too but he's trying to not feel this particular traitor. His brain aches, and somehow his eardrums too from too high blood pressure, so Yuuri can't listen to whatever his brain is telling him, and isn't that a blessing? He should consider raising his blood pressure more often so that his brain doesn't have ground to be listened to.

So Yuuri doesn't listen to his brain he can't hear for once, gets up the elevator and into the flat he's always stayed at when they're in Lausanne.

Ah. He's forgotten his keys. Fortunately, the spare's still under the doormat. He doesn't know how the other can stay out after a competition like that to have fun and eat and drink. The only fun Yuuri wants it the funny pattern on his bedsheets.

And funny they are. He doesn't recognize the dog paw pattern, but whatever, the b&b owner probably knows him by now.

Yuuri doesn't hear his brain, everything aches. He drops the spare keys on the table and just crashes on the bed.

Viktor knows how Yuuri sees himself. He knows him too much to ignore it. He thinks, because of all the anxiety he goes through, he's a very conscientious person. Not forgetful at all.

Viktor's usually the one deemed forgetful.

A heavy sigh escapes him.

The only times he's forgotten where he lived, he was inebriated. And every one of those times, he ended up at a friend's place because he couldn't remember. He didn't think he still shared a flat with his drooling, world-level athlete, glasses askew, not pj wearing partner.

Ex partner.

A heavy sigh follows the first one.

Viktor doesn't know what to do with himself. Working with Yuuri is hard enough, being a careful and attentive coach is harder enough. Witnessing him easing into their old habit like it's comfort is the hardest still.

Seeing him privately, watching him withouth being seen in return. That has to be a cursed wrapped up as a blessing. Or maybe the opposite.

He doesn't know, as he doesn't know if he should sit or stand or wake him up or go to sleep because he too is exhausted or just watch or be glad or cry.

He's already weeping. Today was exhausting. Today was supposed to be the last day before a break. He'd been holding on til he reaches today. He'd been coming back at his place thinking finally. Finally he could be free for a while to nurse his wounds that never heals while seeing Yuuri on a daily basis.

It's a shame how they still manage to work up to greatness together. It would have been fairer for them to not be the best together, for their... whatever their breaking up was, to put a strain on their work. To affect it.

No. They work great together. He's reminded of that every day.

He just wanted to nurse his wound in peace. And sleep til july.

The sun ray that wakes Yuuri up is quite warm, and not bright at all. It's also very orange. In the privacy of his own room, he smiles. That was a good sleep, and a long one if the sun's any proof.

Finally, a well deserved break.

He rolls on his other side. The sheets are the softest he's experienced in month. He's gonna lay there all day; or rather all night.

"There's tea on your bedside table. And a hot water bottle."

Ah.

Yuuri stills. Of course he does.

When he reopens his eyes and is sad to note that he wasn't hallucinating.

Viktor is propped on a couple of pillows, chest bare which indicate he did sleep here, a book open in his hand.

"Mhm... Ok. Thanks."

"You're welcome."

Why is it simple. It's not simple. It's awful. Why is it easy to talk to him. To understand he thought of the hot water bottle for the muscle cramps he gets in the morning?

They're supposed to be working together. That's all. Because they're great together. They're not supposed to be great together in a bed. That's not their part anymore.

He should turn and drink. He should turn and take the glass and put it to his mouth and then take the hot water bottle and then he should do something else but what, he doesn't know, and he should do something instead of just being here and. and. and. and not doing nothing.

"You crashed here after you left the rink yesterday. I didn't feel like waking you up."

"Ah. Ok? Thanks."

"There's coffee and breakfast for dinner in the kitchen if you want."

He doesn't say make yourself at home. This was one of the flat they used to rent when they were in Switzerland. It's been some kind of home, or at the very least he's made himself at home here before. They did, together.

Viktor doesn't say it, but what he does say he says so casually the meaning is underneath it all, involuntarily.

"Go on. Drink your tea. Everything's ok. Don't worry."

Viktor knows it's the easiest to deal with his anxiety: facts, not questions or maybe's or offers. Facts, and directions. Yuuri drinks his tea. It's a bit tepid, but in a reassuring way.

Why don't they work together, again?

somebodys probably asked this before but! do you have any design ideas for the magical girl au? (particularly scar, grian, and bdubs 👀)

so at this point there are a FEW concrete things, but a lot of things are still fuzzy. i think if you go through the tag you can find a few more times i answered this but here are some quick thoughts to bring more recent design details up to speed:

scar has a magic wheelchair. i like golds a lot for scar. he's also still generally pink or red in my head. his dress is very frilly and probably impractical, partially because magic partially because he's in a magic wheelchair he can get away with his dress being utterly unsuited for combat. he has a magic bow; i like to imagine this has either hearts or stars on it, though it doesn't have to. the bow is fairly large in my mind. his wheelchair can transform with various attacks to shapes more suited for the environment; for example it can get legs to bounce around on things with or transform into short bursts of flight. i like to think scar's actually decently mobile but he mostly stays at a further distance than cub, bdubs, or grian would. he definitely has long hair and like, either a cool hat or a lot of ribbons.

cub dresses VERY PRACTICALLY. blues and blacks; after he finally transforms it's somewhat more of blues and whites but still a lot of blacks. he brought a gun, a mask, some anti-facial recognition makeup, and black clothes on his first mission; you know that funky cyberpunk style stuff designed to break up your face so cameras have trouble recognizing you? yeah i think cub does that. obviously he has his gun; after he transforms for the first time the gun becomes slightly bigger and more colorful, and flashes through colors when he fires it. his dress in magical girl form is sleek and easy to move in; i think cub definitely has leggings, you know? mid-length hair i think.

bdubs is GREEN and POOFY and HERE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. i have, since the last time i discussed designs, i think decided bdubs gets a visor, to go with his "man in the chair" type role. i also think maybe if we wanna callback hermitcraft he gets a crown. i. cannot remember what weapon i said bdubs uses, i think maybe a magic wand. greens and yellows though, frilly in a way that calls back moss. he has the shortest hair out of all the magical girls i think. i think along with the moss though he has a slight sci-fi bent to his outfit? that or something else that calls to mind the idea that bdubs is their comms guy? you know what i'm trying to get across here right,

grian. the one the most people have designed lol. blacks and purples largely. he has wings - probably bird wings, given the blackbird/caged bird thing, but when he's possessed in the king of monsters arc he's got wings of every conceivable variety on his monster form. he has the knife halo, the ask about the halo of knives reflecting his mood made me DEFINITELY get on that train it's an unsubtle metaphor like everything else about him COME ON. his outfit is more sleek than scar or bdubs, but i think out of all of them grian is probably the one with really impractical heels. he fights by flying around a lot up close then using knives to pin you in place so he can use his magic. REALLY long hair in my mind in a ponytail, griana style.

and yep those are the design notes i have at the moment but feel free to deviate from this and go NUTS as your heart desires you know

YES ABSOLUTELY. Let’s be real, Leverage is THEE fandom that can swoop in and fix anything, so why not have them fix the ending of Supernatural?

A couple of caveats: 1) I stopped watching spn back in uhhh 2012? or so? The only things I know past mid s7 are a) Lee Webb’s story (ish) and b) The Confession. I know about the finale in theory but not in practice. I barely know that Jack exists. 2) I am slowly building an entire universe where every Chris Kane character is just one of Eliot’s aliases. So this AU technically includes his character from Angel: the Series, but idk how familiar you are with that show so I’ll just skip those part

Here’s the bulletpoint version (because otherwise this starts to get Long):

In the episode where Dean runs into Lee, instead of being in TX they’re in NOLA (because that’s where the Leverage reboot is going to take place).

Lee isn’t Evil in this AU - but there is definitely something squirrelly going on

Eliot is on stage because their entertainment for the night had to cancel, so Dean spots him on stage and is like !! I Know! Him!

Hardison hears him saying this and immediately goes on Red Alert because historically guys from Eliot’s past are Not Good News

So Hardison sends a subtle signal to Dean that’s their private code for “watch out for this guy”

At the end of Eliot’s set, he sneaks up behind Dean and says something like “you’re making my people nervous and when my people get nervous I get protective”

And Dean’s like oh shit, but it’s actually all good, Eliot/Lee was just giving him shit because oh my god Dean Fucking Winchester I haven’t seen you in 17 goddamn years.

* So then they’re in like catch-up mode but Eliot/Lee tells Dean under no circumstances can he mention “hunting” because his people don’t know what that means and Eliot doesn’t want them to.

Eliot was...not fond of the hunting world. He can deal with some fucked up stuff, but what really fucks with his head is that the worst thing he ever did in his life was under the direction of a human, not a demon.

And he thinks Parker might be able to deal with supernatural stuff, but Hardison? No way. Hardison would break

Anyway, Eliot explains to Dean about Leverage and Dean is like wow holy shit look at you being a hero. And Eliot’s like hey man if you ever get tired of your current job hmu I could use a secondary hitter.

So the background tho: Dean met Eliot in a bar when Dean was 19 and Sammy was 15. Dean was hustling pool to get money for dinner when he realizes that cool-looking dude at the bar is actually chatting up [insert monster of choice]. Dean swoops in just as the monster is going to kill Eliot, and together they defeat the monster. Eliot gives him a name he made up on the spot (Lee Webb). They hit it off immediately

Dean’s like “you think I’m cool you should meet my dad” so Eliot comes by their hotel the next day

Eliot’s still pretty young at this point so while i think he does recognize the signs of abuse, he kinda thinks Dean’s an adult so he must know what he’s doing. He can leave any time he wants. It’s sad but, ultimately, not Eliot’s place to intervene

he thinks about that choice not to intervene a lot in the later years, whenever he sees a kid in over his head and too worldweary for how young they are. it spurs him to take action where maybe once he wouldn’t have.

Anyway, John’s like “hey if you’re interested in hunting I’ve got a job me and my friends can’t really do because we can’t play the right part”

And Eliot’s first question of course is “how much does it pay?” because he’s at That Point in his life, where any job is fine if it pays better than his PMC work.

And John’s like “I can’t pay you but if you play your cards right you can get money from the people I need you to con”

and that’s how Eliot becomes Lindsey MacDonald and works at Wolfram & Hart for 2.5 years, but that’s all AtS stuff that I’ll skip. Suffice to say Eliot did Not Have a Good Time

So now fast forward to after The Confession and Dean is Not Okay. He needs to get out of the hunter life, but he doesn’t know what to do. They defeated Chuck and now Jack’s god and all but where does that leave Dean?

Dean remembers what Eliot said and decides to pay him a visit and see if the offer stands

Except Eliot is out of town working a job with Vance, and Hardison and Parker are a bit wary because Hardison did too much digging and found out a) monsters are real, b) Dean is actually Officially Dead and also like a major fugitive (I don’t know if this is still true in S15 but I’m going with there’s some seriously hinky stuff in Dean’s background), and c) he makes Eliot nervous. So H & P are double protective and don’t want Dean around Eliot

Well eventually Eliot comes back and Dean asks for a job - not with Leverage but just working in the restaurant kitchen as a dishboy or something until Dean can learn more about real cooking and maybe become a part of the cooking team

Eliot accepts. He’s kinda wary of Dean because he doesn’t seem okay, but Eliot feels guilty for not following his instincts back in the day so now he’s going to do his best to watch out for Dean.

Meanwhile Dean is sinking further and further into debilitating alcoholism. He doesn’t go a single night without getting nearly blackout drunk. When he’s around Eliot he tries to keep it chill, but afterwards he’ll drink until he passes out.

Until several weeks later he makes the mistake of passing out in the restaurant kitchen and Eliot finds him the next morning.

Eliot prepares an ice bath and unceremoniously dumps Dean into it, and when he has Dean’s attention he says he’s not going to let another friend be consumed by obsession and addiction, so he better get his shit together.

blah blah blah Hardison is busy becoming an EXPERT on supernatural shit and stumbles across a way they might be able to get Cas back from the Empty.

It doesn’t work - for plot reasons. Cas is already out, they just don’t know it.

It involves AtS stuff, so I’ll skip

Just know I need Cordy to be Jack’s heavenly mentor.

If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry.

But the real reason they can’t find Cas is because Dean needs to work his shit out and get sober before he can face Cas again

Mostly because I am the writer and I say Cas deserves better

So eventually Dean sobers up and agrees to do a few Leverage jobs with the crew, and on one of these jobs in LA he runs into Cas

Cas is actually not 100% awake from his time in The Empty, he’s like this mostly-asleep mobile puppet - he can move around on his own and has an uncanny understanding of when he’s needed, he has his angelic strength, but otherwise? He’s nonverbal and his personality is pretty much subsumed

The AtS crew are taking care of him though

When he’s upset, Asleep!Cas likes to play classic rock to soothe himself. Especially Zepplin

So Dean’s like “okay Cas IS still in there somewhere maybe he needs to be around familiar stuff to bring him back” so he regretfully moves back to Lawrence for Cas and says farewell to Leverage, though they stay in touch

He buys Cas a beehive, it’s really cute

At some point Dean has to face his feelings. It’s like pulling teeth

Eventually Cas wakes up fully

It’s really cute but I won’t spoil it in case I ever actually write out this AU

and then they all live happily ever after, and even though Hardison REALLY wants to make a supernatural branch of Leverage, Eliot talks him out of that

Oh and they are an established OT3

I just realized I didn’t talk much about Parker

She and Cas become instant BFFs once Cas wakes up

They’re both just so Quirky and I love them

Angel Investigations and the Brother of Arms (if I recall the name correctly?) team up to make a massive Hunter centralized database

Oh also also, Hardison helps Dean start a Hunter Rehab because of the pep talk Eliot gave Dean when he was getting sober

Idk it’s a new thing, I haven’t fully fleshed it out yet

So yeah that’s what I’ve had swimming in my brain for 2 months now. I thought the bulletpoint version wouldn’t be so long... and yet.
