ok so I have many thoughts about the 90s Psylocke-Revanche storyline but first and foremost they were both victims. neither Kwannon nor Betsy chose to be a part of this whole thing. Betsy went into the Siege Perilous willingly, but she had no way of knowing what she was getting into. Kwannon was thrown into it all as she was dying. they didn't choose the change, and their identities following the change were tangled and mixed. neither can be blamed for what happened. Spiral, Matsu'o Tsurayaba, and Nyoirin, however can and should be blamed. it was a collaborative effort, but very much not the Psylockes'.
#yael's x men ramblings#ofc there's the weight of betsy spending so much time in kwannon's body and appropriating culture#and whatever she did later that i haven't read yet#but she's not at fault for the body swap#she can feel guilty and kwannon can feel angry#(betsy can feel angry too and she has)#but at the end of the day these are misdirected emotions#FOR THE SWAP#again. later things are a seperate matter#there's also the fascinting thing with their personalities being merged#the uncertainity of whether these feelings are yours or not#it's so good#ofc bc 90s that idea was used in a racist way#but i think that's what's so different in their dynamic from the 90s to now#now they know who they are. they know their thoughts are their own#then they were lost inside their heads and hated the only person who felt the same and could maybe solve the mystery for them#their dynamic was more interesting in the 90s#as indivduals they're obviously much more layered and interesting now#once that bond of minds has been removed their interactions aren't as messy (and fun to read)#anwyay. those are my two cents. i love kwannon#i have a love-hate relationship with betsy it depends which side of the bed i get up on#she also can be boring as hell sometimes especially in recent comics
