Smile of the Arsnotoria The Animation Season 1

Smile of the Arsnotoria is an interesting anime, it lures you in with cute girls doing cute things at a magical school but then it pulls the rug from under your feet and, reveals the main bad guys as they mercilessly kill hundreds of people. I will praise the anime for a least including a warning when the perspective is about to change. But in some episodes the main plot bookends the subplot, so it would be nice to see another sign letting people know that the potentially upsetting parts are over with.That being said, this anime is endearingly adorable and does a somewhat good job of setting up it’s world and the clear threat that’s coming for them. It’s rare these days to actually see a magical setting where the girls aren’t in high combat or where we’re stuck with them in long drawn out classroom scenes. Instead they’re usually eating snacks, playing games or doing chores which is surprisingly entertaining. But my only main complaint is that it’s serialized and, has left the season on a cliffhanger. Something I’m not happy about. But with all that being said, I still really enjoyed my time with this anime. 4/5.
