I'm very lucky that I find placing blocks in Minecraft meditative. This underwater palace is HUGE and clearing out the water is only half the work. I also gotta build some custom trees and finish the chandeliers 😔 How do I get myself into these messes...

The internet keeps telling me that in Minecraft it's impossible for you to get thunder on a clear day but I keep getting thunder on clear days.

It's happened in two separate worlds now. Both single player, both set to peaceful at the time, one where I'm living in a jungle biome and one where I'm living in a desert. In both worlds I didn't have the sky go dark or see any rain in the nearby biomes where it DOES rain.

Just Thunder.

Also in both worlds I wasn't using any mods at the time.

This is why we always double check our measurements before building shit that'd be really annoying to tear down just to move it over 1 block.

Looks like my AFK sugarcane, Bamboo, and Amethyst farms are going to have to stay annoyingly off center until I get irritated enough to fix it.

So when Minecraft's 1.20 update dropped I decided I was gonna fire up a singleplayer world and play on easy instead of my usual peaceful as a gentle and easy way to work on my anxiety. I gave myself two exceptions to an otherwise cheatless game: Keep Inventory and No Wardens. I would gently work my way up to all the things that scared me and conquer them. First I conquered exploring caves and exploring with the risk of monsters attacking me. Then I went into the Nether. And today

I beat the dragon.

All on my own.

It's not a big thing, but my anxiety makes it so fucking difficult to play anything that isn't turn based these days. So for me beating the dragon is... kinda huge.

Is this my best work in Minecraft? No (that's the underwater palace that I still need to get sponges to get the water out of.

But it is in fact a functioning nether portal and it looks kinda pretty so

Also I deserve credit for building it really high up in the sky instead of on ground level where it's safe... safer.

Today in my many Minecraft adventures I built a ruined/rebuilt greenhouse for a singular bee.

He will be joined by other bees in future but the whole place was built for him specifically because he is a very special bee.

He is Bob the Bee. And on my first day on this server Bob the Bee got lost and wandered directly into my heart... after first wandering onto a mountain top near spawn.

For a long time Bob was kept on a lead under a shelter in the village at spawn with a sign that read 'this is Bob the Bee. He got lost.'

Then I finally made a beehive and he lived in that hive in a chest at spawn for months. But now... After so long.

Bob has come home. And my dear little bee will never 🐝 lost again

Got a splitting headache while working on this in Minecraft.

It's something I saw a YouTuber do once in passing and thought it looked cool so I've tried to recreate it for funsies.

Then I remembered that I hate working with Minecraft's water physics (hilarious because I like building underwater in survival) and it's taken me 3 days to get it mostly done (I still have to do the bottom).

admittedly a lot of the time has been spent just trying to scrape together all the sand/gravel/black dye I've needed for the concrete.

Trying to relearn how to build spiral staircases in Minecraft.

and it sucks because last time I had to stumble on the right design purely by accident.

I have kinda figured it out again but it's still a pain in the ass.

Went exploring my old Minecraft worlds found my first ever world with my first ever build.

Spent 20 minutes baffled by this thing:

This was a creative world I had access to every block in the game at the time (it was version 1.15) and I built a thing made entirely of stone, oak, and glass. and the interior is a maze of some proportions. One of the doors basically opens out onto a sheer drop. Fascinating choices.

The little garden's pretty cute tho.

obviously this space is a work in progress, but I'm so proud of all the work I've done so far! In time this will be one half of my storage room. It's under the big underwater palace I've been working on for the last... however long I've been on this server. It wasn't going to exist at first. I figured I'd just use the towers on the palace as a storage space like I did last time I tried to do this build.

But that was always cramped and difficult to navigate. and then I realized there was going to be a couple walls I was going to have to replace with prettier blocks in the channels I wanted to have on either side of the room in the palace and abruptly had the epiphany that the channels would look really cool as aquariums in a biiiiiig storage room.

Anyway, I've still got a fuck ton of digging to do, but the aquarium looks nice and I'm proud of it.

Latest update to my Minecrafting:

First 'pet' of the world is a Spider that I kited into a cage and named 'Elizabeth' when it de-aggro'd for the day.

I've been thinking about getting Optifine for a while now, not for shaders per se (mostly for connected glass textures actually) but oh my god I love this.

My computer does not tho so shaders will be used sparingly.
