Omg can you imagine immortal Baelon ii just having reborn Argella (baratheon) strapped onto his chest while he rides Carnifex? He finally found a purpose in a newborn who looks like his daughter with a same name. And she’s the true heir of Robert too?!

he would. she'd be so delighted by it. baelon ii had been purely existing for a while, not seeing much a purpose after his lovers and children had passed away. but once he sees argella baratheon, who looks like his deceased daughter, its like he comes alive again.

Anyways, we stan house Baratheon for going up against the crown not once, but twice in the history of Westeros and winning both times. Borros really said “Fuck these Targaryen inbreds” and Robert was like “Word, lemme finish what you started” and completely wiped them out of this earth, lol. The OG Baratheon boy, Orys, is probably rolling in his grave while miss princess Argella Durrandon is smiling down upon her descendants.

For a few days it was feared that Storm's End might suffer the same fate as Harrenhal, for Argilac's daughter Argella barred her gates at the approach of Orys Baratheon and the Targaryen host, and declared herself the Storm Queen. Rather than bend the knee, the defenders of Storm's End would die to the last man, she promised when Queen Rhaenys flew Meraxes into the castle to parley. "You may take my castle, but you will win only bones and blood and ashes," she announced...but the soldiers of the garrison proved less eager to die. That night they raised a peace banner, threw open the castle gate, and delivered Lady Argella gagged, chained, and naked to the camp of Orys Baratheon.

with the aegon's conquest show soon to grace our screens, i kindly remind everyone to remain open-minded about argella durrandon and what happened to her. She was a free princess/queen in her own right, and getting (forcefully) married to one of the attackers and forced to bear his sons never to be heard of again is not the love story everyone thinks it is. That too after being chained naked and presented to him as a peace offering.

Honest question, how is what Orys Baratheon did (claim a house and words changing the name) allowed? I guess that since it was a conquest nobody would question it, but yes

Allowed? It happened. Aegon, the king, approved of it. Where else does the law come from?

"From the people!" some might say, and indeed in a feudal society the ruler only remains ruling through the support of his lords. Evidently the lords of the Stormlands accepted Argilac's defeat by Orys as well as his and Argella's marriage, since we never hear anything about "overmighty vassals" in the Stormlands complaining afterwards (unlike in the Reach with the Tyrells or in the Riverlands with the Tullys). Acceptance = "allowed" as well.

And in main ASOIAF, we can look to the Darrys, whose male line died out in the War of the Five Kings, and Lancel Lannister married Amerei Frey, whose mother is a Darry. So we have House Lannister of Darry, whose sigil quarters the Darry plowman and the lion of Lannister. Again, perfectly "allowed", with the king's approval and the vassals not complaining (much). Mind you, since Lancel's annulling his marriage, this situation may change, so we may see a plum/plowman or boar/plowman sigil in the future. There's also the example of Tyrek Lannister and Ermesande Hayford; the fact that Tyrek is missing and Ermesande is a baby is probably the only reason we didn't get a "Lannister of Hayford" situation. Ditto Sansa's disappearance (and Tyrion's arrest) re Tywin's "Lannister of Winterfell" plans. And Genna Lannister is hoping that Roslin has a girl for her grandson Tywin Frey to marry, to cement the House Frey of Riverrun situation amongst their new vassals-- would that include a quartered sigil, castles and trout? Perhaps, though in the end it's unlikely to happen considering the Second Red Wedding and all.

And there's other examples where marriages and sigils takeovers must have been a thing in the past. Whether quartered or fully... Joffrey Lydden changed his name to Lannister when he married the Lannister king's only daughter, but presumably because this was not a conquest but arranged while Gerold III was alive. And as for Lannisters themselves, the Casterlys had a lion sigil before them, along with the Rock. Was it red-and-gold, did they also use "Hear Me Roar"? That we don't know.

But suffice it to say, Orys Baratheon's taking on the Durrandon sigil and words was meant to honor Argilac's valor. To promote the continuity of rule, to tell the people of the Stormlands that their noble traditions would not end with a new lord and new name. And that's all there is to it, really.

𝐁𝐀𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐍 𝐈𝐈 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐘𝐄𝐍 had never hated more living for eternity until this generation came along. The reign of King Aerys II Targaryen, also known as The Mad King, and he was the worst than any other Targaryen he stumbled upon to since the dance ended. He found himself resenting Alys Rivers for cursing him with immortality instead of allowing him to go at peace with his loves and children. His family.

He didn’t bother stick around during the mad king’s reign, or the rebellion, but instead stayed in the shadows with his dragon, Carnifex. Just wondering about what life could’ve been if his daughter had lived— she and her siblings couldn’t have existed if the dance hadn’t happened.

It didn’t meant he’d allow some group of armoured pricks attack a woman who did nothing but fiercely protected her baby. Taking place at a village outside of the kingdom.

“What happened?” He quickly attended to her after taking down her attackers. She was gravely injured by the stand wound on her lower abdomen and held onto the bundled baby. He only noticed black hair. “Are you both alright?”

“The king’s other children aren’t his!” The woman says hysterically and ignored his concerns as if she was finally spilling secrets that shouldn’t been. “Ser Jaime didn’t want a innocent babe dead. So he gave her to me and sent me away before Cersei found out.” He narrowed his eyes at her.

“You’re bleeding, my lady.” Baelon tried helping her bleeding wound but it seems his efforts are pointless. “What’s the baby’s name? At least let me help her.” He pleaded.

“How do I know I can trust her with you?! She’s too important!” She glared at him and clung onto the bundle a bit tightly.

“You can trust me. I’d never harm any innocent child.” That was enough for her. So she carefully placed the infant in his arms.

“Her name is...” His heart nearly stopped the moment she said the babe’s name to him. “If Cersei finds out their only true born child lives, she’ll kill her just to protect her three golden haired spawns! You have to protect her. Promise me, good ser… love her as if she’s your own daughter…” The woman finally took her last breath.

As the black-haired newborn eyelids began fluttering open. He’d expected either emerald green, or stormy blue, but instead he met with amethyst purple.

It explains so much…

King Robert I Baratheon’s grandmother was Rhaelle Targaryen, one of his descendants via Viserys II and Vevienne Targaryen, who’d married her grandfather Ormund Baratheon.

And she said her name is Argella Baratheon. This babe holds the same name and physical similarities as his daughter did when she was born.

But most importantly… she’s the true heir to the iron throne.

[ this takes place after argella dies on the battlefield and gets taken away by gaelithox but was never returned instead— reborn Argella is the youngest child of Cersei Lannister and true born heir of Robert Baratheon.

but I’ll be occasionally writing you argella-centric fluff and baelon ii with his yandere harem ( where everyone is alive ) where THAT is definitely canon to all of us! :)) ]
