ok clearly i am just a big idiot about this but i need someone to explain to me how to buy a new phone. i have had three (3) phones in my entire life and i’m so tired of fighting with my iphone 8 from 2018 (purchased for me by my uncle the plan holder) over storage but i don’t know how to get a refurbished phone & make it work because i have this sim card & the newer phones only have esims. or something. i am not interested in going to the apple store and spending one thousand dollars on a new phone; though they would be able to switch it for me through some kind of magic. how does a layperson get their old phone to become a new phone. the last time i tried to buy a secondhand unlocked phone it was when i had my iphone 5 in approx 2017 (pre uncle intervention) & bought an unlocked iphone 6 from target but when i put my sim card in there it didn’t work right so i had to return it. so while i have found refurbed iphone 8s with more storage space (my main issue) for an extremely reasonable $100 i am afraid that they will not work even though it’s exactly the same phone. so how do i make them work. i don’t want to get my uncle involved because i shouldn’t have to do that
