I'm working on this visual analysis and I'm doing an Andy Warhol piece because there's some showing in the gallery near here and I've been autistic abt him since elementary school, and I'm just remembering a stupid ass post I saw bashing him and it's taking all of my willpower to not write a like. 12 page dissertation on here abt why people who call him a boring consumerist shill just don't understand art. I'm being so pretentious abt it but I am Deeply Passionate abt this queer popartist who died before my parents even met each other

#it's a stupid pet peeve of mine but genuinely the amt of hate that pop art gets sometimes pisses me off to the nth degree #like. sorry you dont get how groundbreaking it was for a guy to make widely accessible art that showed trans women in the 70s.#sorry you dont appreciate the communal nature of having a whole team of people willing to help you create your visions #sorry you don't understand the value in disrupting High Art with things that are understandable and accessible to the general public.#also it just looks cool! it's got bright colours and funky shapes and interesting subjects! where's your whimsy!!!#anyways.
