gonna be real u guys lanolin Is mean and thats okay !!! I've seen a ton of people pretending that she's not mean and saying that she isnt to defend her bc I guess people on Twitter are being weird about it but . she IS mean. like that's a part of her character. and the character is allowed to Be Mean. it's very obviously intentionally written and people are allowed to like Or dislike her because of that.

It's pretty clear to me with Lanolin's interactions with Tangle and how the both of them reacted this issue that this is going to eventually reach a tipping point and maybe she'll get some character development out of it. Lanolin is intentionally being written as being needlessly harsh towards her friends so I think it's a safe bet that people are Supposed to feel off about that aspect of her character and I feel like acting like she can do no wrong or is "just a little blunt" is hugely mischaracterizing her. Let Her Be Mean. I promise you can still like her.

And when the time comes in the story where she has some sort of intervention about how she's treating people or tangle or some other character blows up at her or something I don't want any of y'all to act surprised or like she didn't have that coming bc if you are then I'm not sure we've been reading the same comic

sis made me realize such a stupid and infuriating thing with regards to garak. i kind of want to share it but it IS so stupid and so infuriating, and only to me because it's about my ex-coworker gods

in my old job i've had a manager who. you're not gonna believe this. just lied sometimes. for no reason. which made quite a few people quite understandably dislike him because you'd have a normal conversation with him and he'd tell you a straight up lie FOR NO REASON.

one time he told a fairly new employee that she's already got a nickname, but he can't tell her what it is. it was a lie. there was no nickname. why did he do this. i can't know. i don't think he knows. she got all stressed about it, like is it a bad nickname?? and people told her he was talking out of his ass but she was NEW there so she couldn't know for sure if people didn't try to make her feel better or were hiding stuff from her. also how do you explain to someone that oh yeah, that's [name], as a rule you shouldn't trust anything he says. not that he always lies but he does lie. ???????

that was to be fair the meanest thing he's done i think on account the poor woman didn't yet know to distrust his ass. it was generally stuff like that - mostly harmless, but at the very least incredibly annoying.

(how did i survive with a manager like that. surprisingly easy. at that point in my journey called life i got so incredibly tired of having trouble telling if someone's being serious or not i just decided to not even try and most importantly not care. so i never even made an attempt at figuring out if what he says is true. i immediately developed a strategy of just listening to him and engaging him with whatever it was he was saying and then immediately forgetting about it and/or not following up on anything he says. i only paid serious attention to work-related stuff since he never did it when talking business at least.)

and recently. after we watched the episode in which garak for some unfathomable reason tells worf he wants to enter the starfleet academy, sis said, hey. hey he's like your old manager. this is what he's doing. it's the same picture.

and i hate this. i hate this so much. i got all into a character who shares this stupid trait with this dude i used to work with. like i can't stress enough that he would've done exactly what garak's done in this scene. without hesitation. without remorse.

to add an even bigger insult to injury it made me realize that one of my long-time friends also does something similar, only she likes to do it in a specific format; she goes: 'hey, did you know that *insert an absolutely absurd lie but said with such a casual self-confidence that you don't even question it*' she says she likes doing that cause it's interesting to see what kinda things people are gonna believe. she once told several people pigeons have a bone looking like a sprocket in their necks. why. why???? how did i even end up knowing not one but two people like that.

anyways it's absolutely entertaining in garak but i wish people didn't try this at home.
