I study philosophy which is my passion and I love it so much and I want to talk about it forever. Unfortunately, a lot of my friends don't study philosophy and don't understand any of the philosophy stuff I talk about. So anytime one of them has to take a philosophy course (it's a requirement at my school for everyone to take one) I'm particularly on my hands and knees begging them to ask me for help with any of it. Some times they do ask for help and I give them all the information I can find to help. A lot of them don't ask though, and I think it's partially cause they don't want to be a bother but I'm particularly vibrating in my seat with please someone ask me about philosophy I can talk about this all day.
It's then fun that whenever any of us who do study philosophy get together, that's like 90% of what we talk about. It's a tiny program and you have to be passionate to get in the field so everyone is always ready at the drop of a hat to talk about it and are always so excited to explain what our current philosophical interest is
my brothers share special interests and my favorite thing to do is walk in a room and be like "hey guys can you tell me about the mariana trench" and then sit there for an hour while they both infodump to me about the ocean it's extremely entertaining
#my friends are all college students who are less passionate about their fields of study#some of them are just studying what their parents want and some are doing it for a good job and some are only interested in a specific field#that's a lot more narrow than the broad area of study they're in now. anyways it's just funny to me#how like you get several people from one major together and if they talk about their classes at all they're just complaining about#the workload usually. meanwhile phil majors run into each other and end up having an impromptu discussion about metaphysics#anywaya ik it's different at the graduate level but I'm an undergrad so only a fraction of us are like really into studying our niche#and I'm sure other majors are like us too. but it's just funny to see what the phil majors are like consistently across the board here#pls ask us about philosophy
