Why are there still people who KNOW it was confirmed a fan project still trying to hype up the UZ Inu stuff as genuine and acting like their hidden 'hints' are real lore 😭 I wanna go over some points as to why the arguments I've seen don't really hold up at this point.

Trying to get people excited about 'real' content despite it confirmed as not so isn't... A great idea. Yes, the undertale support email that got back and said it was fanmade wasn't Toby himself, but y'all realise he has people from fangamer who playtest his games, right? Plus they know him better than any of us could - they're gonna know when a giant dump of enough music to make up an entire chapter doesn't feel like it's truly his (or if they've heard any of his REAL tracks that world prove these aren't real, such as the genuine themes for Tenna or Toriel).

Yeah, there's lots of toby-ish parts about them but... Some of y'all really need to listen to more utdr fangame osts and fan music/fan music edits in general. People are VERY good at this. Y'all can explain to me why Jockington's theme would make canon sense to contain Ghost Fight though, looking forward to that explanation.

U.Z. Inu being an actual psuedonym he's used in the past proves nothing either - have y'all never heard of the countless fake Toby Fox accounts across a ton of different social media? They just chose a more vague one - most likely bc this is SoundCloud and they'd rather not mislead people THAT badly since Toby himself shares his stuff there and they don't wanna get in trouble or make things difficult for him.

The other argument I've seen is that 'He probably just really wants to share his music! He's been waiting so long!' this man has the patience of a saint. He hid every scrap of deltarune from us for YEARS - and besides, he showed us new music on the ut anniversary and the sweepstakes anyway - more than I expected tbh! He'd have no reason to 'leak' that much music, and ESPECIALLY not to toss out random lore hints with it. Again, that's what the sweepstakes were for. I'd say the closest thing to this he really did was the deltarune website in 2017 - but that was a single page with one sentence and no music. Again, this U.Z. Inu situation isn't his style.

Tldr; it's clearly a fan project, and that's okay! Nothing wrong with appreciating fan works for what they are - that's what fandom is about after all. Whoever's behind this deserves some appreciation for their work (bc it all sounds rad as hell!), and I hope they drop their social media for us to go check out once they've finished playing their little game.

some brief thoughts on what might happen this ut anniversary:

we already learned a while ago that they would be releasing the silence ending for the spamton sweepstakes and discussing its creation, so I think we can bet on that happening on the anniversary.

as for whether or not there’ll be anything else, I don’t expect a stream or an event as big as the sweepstakes based on the wording of the above tweet. but it’s worth mentioning that the sweepstakes were teased with the phrase “a little something specil” and I personally wasn’t expecting anything as exciting as what we got based off of that. not to be all “toby is a troll and nothing he says can be trusted” but I do sometimes get the sense that he downplays things a bit as not to get anyone’s hopes up too high? maybe it’s just that any crumb of deltarune content feels like the biggest thing in the world to me anyway

I’m also wondering whether or not we’ll be getting a status update this year… I would be more certain of it since there was one in 2019 and 2020 as well, but we have the newsletters now, and those always have a short progress update section (but no teaser images like the status updates have). So far the newsletters have been coming out during the first month of each season (december march and june) so the fall newsletter should be coming out around the same time as the anniversary anyway. maybe it’ll get pushed back for that reason? there’s usually other interesting things in the newsletters of course but the progress updates are the main draw, so it could be redundant to have one come out so close to the anniversary.

anyway, my best guess is that we’re almost definitely going to see the other sweepstakes ending, maybe some new merch (seam plush please?) and probably a status update, although maybe not with as many teasers as last year.

i just. finished reading the last chapter of dream come true and like. god. theres a lot to unpack.

first off i was always a krerdly believer for the series. ever since we saw berdly being a fucking disaster and ask everyone but kris out i was cheering for him to ask out kris. and oh boy you fucking did it. you actually fucking did it im so happy and grinning like an idiot even though berdly asking kris out actually made me die of secondhand embarrassment. the little cringefail gamers going together. what a dream. also kris in a dress supremacy lets fucking go im bad at visualizing stuff in my head but they mustve looked so gender and i am envious.

also a mini fangame thing for the actual epilogue????? oh my god im actually gonna explode. like actually so so so so excited for it.

and finally. i just. want to express my disbelief at how its finally ending. i remember meticulously going through the deltarune tag because i just got sucked back in and i wasn't there for the initial chapter one release of deltarune so i wanted all the content i could get my hands on. and of course there were already some chapter 2 stuff in there, and i saw dare to dream, and thought "oh, that's a nice suselle fic, i'll go check it out" and i fell in love with it. just good pining and fluff, with a little bit of worry about carol in the last chapter but like. ok. and you uploaded a sequel and i was ecstatic and you kept writing. and writing. and writing until eventually we're waist deep into your own headcanon lore with whole new characters and dark worlds and it was just. amazing. actually one of my favorite fic series i've ever read, deltarune or otherwise. every chapter you put out somehow outdid the last and its been such a joy eagerly awaiting the next update and godddddd i cant believe it's finally over.

thank you so much for it all. i genuinely cannot express enough how much dare to dream means to me. the hit of serotonin every time i get the little notification in my emails. me actually having to stop in the middle of reading chapters and walking all over the room. rolling and squealing and flailing in my bed at fuck o clock in the morning. trying to guess what happens in the new chapter and searching through my playlists for mood appropriate music to read to and then changing it when the epic battle turns into a reunion and then lore exposition. its been such a wonderful ride and im looking forward to the epilogue and your future works as well because whatever you decide to put out next, im sure it's gonna be a great one.

the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙

that being said. the mouse puzzles were SO fucking infuriating. i caused poor noelle a LOT of grief with those and i feel bad.

SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!

also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!

It took me writing my own stuff and watching people bookmark it to finally figure it out and I still forget it’s a real function (same with kudos... i still 90% of the time forget kudos exist and i can, in fact, leave them with literally 0 repurcussions)

-Canon divergent where sabo was picked up by marines instead of by dragon after losing his memories

-A series of outsider-POV to ASL antics in which ace survived marineford and they all visit each other to spar and hang out at the expense of literally everyone else

-Nsfw 3-parter between shanks, buggy, Mihawk, and Marco

-Post-marineford Marco And shanks dealing with immortality and the things we are forced to leave and are left behind by (nsfw ending) (...will probably still do this one anyway. It nags at me a lot and I have Emotions)

-A marcoace to do with mating dances and extended flight metaphors ahdbdjfnjdnf don’t @ me

-Canon divergent where instead of dying corazon pulled a sabo but became a marine again, memories gone, and trying to catch law gives him a migraine for more than one reason. law is along for the ride and traumatized.

A fic I read this year that I would recommend to everyone gah just... one? Just one? One fic? This is impossible. I’m not even gonna entertain that, have 3 and thats pushing it.

Labyrinths of the Heart by izabellwit - I was in this fandom for as long as it took to read this fic. Full of hopelessness and dark themes, self hate turned poisonously outward, slow mental health related haractet development. A Gen fic excluding canon ships, 200k+ and worth it. I cried over this fic probably every chapter if I’m being honest

Blue by kurikuri - KNY is a little too fresh of a fandom to have 100k+ fic classics just yet but this one made me reread a couple times within a month tbh.. full of complex feelings and hesitation, time travel mixed with trauma and grief both + a canon divergence hat throw everything sideways a lil. Very soft

Trapped in eternity by skyleaf19 - I think this one is already on my OP Friday fic rec list but I think about her a lot and the raw pain and slow descent into trauma from ace looping the last years of his life and losing everyone he loves over and over always gets me. I get .. concerningly excited reading this fic even the fourth and fifth time ahfbjfjcnd

Favorite fandom to read fic from this year oh this one is easy jshfushfifj it’s the One Piece fandom! So far in 2019 I’ve sifted throgh BNHA, one punch man, natsume yuujincho, KNY, deltarune, Sherlock, Merlin, Hannibal, teen wolf, supernatural, Pokémon, FMA, titanfall, DBH, legend of Zelda, mob psycho 100, rise of the guardians, undertale, and marvel (into the spider verse, Spider-Man, avengers, loki-centric, etc) fandoms for new content but, OP being one of my oldest fandoms both in terms of me being connected to it as well as objective age, there’s a whole gold mine of fics that I found much easier to navigate at a frankly startling speed lmfao. It’s been great! I literally, for one of the first times, can’t seem to run out of new AND old content

Thoughts While I Watch The Nintendo Direct A Day Late

Thoughts on the Nintendo Direct: Yoko Toro is an interesting person, that card game looks interesting but Y wouldn’t I just play Talisman? Cool to see more isometric RPGS on switch.

Hyrule Warriors is fun! Age of Calamity is where I really fell in love with the musou formula again - I played a LOT of DW Empires 5, so taking over a map / doing stuff on a map before combat is fun. The silly weapons like the broom etc also make this really fun. I’ll gladly play more of this. the new scientist warrior looks sick! Who asked for Chocobo GP? This looks like Garfield Racing re-skinned and with better physics maybe. When they said Chocoboooooo! I was hoping for a Chocobo’s Dungeon. My buddy Ted got that game with his PS1 and we though it was soooo cool, especially after playing Azure Dreams on Gameboy.

Thanks for telling us when we can see the new Smash Fighter which is probably more Sword boy / Sword gorl why won’t you put any interesting fighters in this game I am moving to Smash Bros CatDog Edition. Kirby washing up on an island is the most unlikely thing for a being who summons giant warp stars to fly through the universe on but okay. this looks INCREDIBLE. Kirby + Nier vibes with the busted up environment. what bums me out is that we saw the same enemy like, 10 times in the first 10 seconds of that one area. The giant snakes / fish are cool, but lets see some more variation maybe 3D Kirby boss fights look pretty freaking fun! 3D Kirby looks pretty great. It will suffer from Kirby things and also be fun. I will play it.

Lets move on, to more stuff second free update for Mario golf, which I would LOVE to play but can’t afford rn. I played it at my neighbors the other day and it’s pretty damn good. new courses and seeing little ninji run around will be very fun. Cool, kid Disney game. Dope. Old Republic for Switch looks great! Dying Light 2: Mirrors Edge edition. Oh, we can play with other people? That seems fun. Do we scavenge together? The Control cloud game demo felt okay on my wifi, but IDK about these cloud games as something worth getting on the switch when PC’s are a thing?

Triangle strategy looks dumb, Disgea does that shit better now right? Metroid Dread looks really cool, excited to run from big robot and make Samus Very Strong Hopefully u get to crawl around as big robot at some point in the game. Love the lore dump we get. Dude, Chozo were here! That’s sick!

Many people have been using switch online… Oh, giving out their old roms gathering dust for “free,” with their current sub was too generous for Nintendo I suppose. New plan for N64 games seem sick - the playing together online thing is very cool. Starting library is standard but nothing too exciting. Very excited to see how the emulation handles these games in relation to how they behaved on the console, as all the cool sped running shit we see in these sorts of older games vary depending on the version of the game.

I’m more excited about the Genesis line up than I am about the N64 one, save those two games I don’t recognize. We get Castlevania, a Contra, some puyo, Beatem ups, and playing this version of Gunstar Heroes might sell more of the other one. Expansion Pack is a name.

Notice how Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon and Comix Zone are not on these lists? They are too afraid to give us the best of what both platforms have to offer and it’s a shame.

I was just talking to my friends about the Shadowrun Isometric RPGs last night! Cool. Castlevania collection looks dope. Button mapping is huuuuge for me. Love that. An Almighty Classic Returns: Actraiser - even the SNES game was hella off my radar, this looks dope. I’m down to side scroll and then town build. Deltarune + Homestuck are games that I really really want to play but my depression is such that I just sit and stare at the starting screen and nothing happens. One day I will consume Toby’s works and be better for it. But until then, I’ll just be excited for my friends and listen to the baller soundtrack. god dammit I love that dog.
