Starry★Sky in Spring -Suzuya- 4/16
After spending the morning classes in different subjects from her friends, that most cherished time of day known as the lunch break arrives for Tsukiko…
As she’s walking down the hall, a student she’s never seen before stops to talk to her.
Oh no!
I had completely forgotten about the other love rival in this game…

...Off-screen-kun!!!
Does his seiyuu even get credited? I should do a speed-run to the credits to find out. (okay, the supporting cast have their names in the credits but no mention of who did which voice, so there you have it)
Anyway, OS-kun’s necktie is blue, which makes him a year above Tsukiko. He hands her an envelope, asking her to read what’s inside, and saunters off. Tsukiko is left in his wake with nothing but a cloud of confusion.
Enter the real romantic lead of this story…

“What’s up, Tsukiko? What’re you doing just spacing out there?”
Tsukiko tells him about the exchange that just happened and Suzuya makes a face.

He knows what’s up.
He recovers quickly and falls back into his solid childhood friend role to pat her on the head and tell her it’s a love letter, dummy. Tsukiko’s not so sure but Suzuya tells her it totez is and by the way any potential boyfriends she may have need to go through a thorough childhood friend vetting just so she knows.
At this point Kanata and Yoh find them and upon discovering the love letter are none too pleased about it. They both think she should give the letter back. It’s not like she has any intention of returning his feelings right? He doesn’t even have a character design! Don’t you agree, Suzuya?
Suzuya frowns and avoids eye contact. He doesn’t mind. Tsukiko’s a free person, he’ll support her no matter...who she chooses…
Kanata: What the actual eff man?!
Yoh: How could you say that, mon frere?!*
(*so many liberties taken with these translations you have no idea)
Suzuya maintains that he’s happy if Tsukiko’s happy.
Tsukiko meanwhile has to awkwardly remind them she’s never met OS-kun before they’re kind of making a big deal out of nothing. Yoh and Kanata start blustering and posturing. O-Oh, is that it? What a loser, giving a love letter to a stranger. He must be like, desperate or something. Suzuya just smiles serenely at Tsukiko and advises her to turn OS-kun down directly anyway. If she’s worried about how dude might take it, she can let Yoh or Kanata go with her.
What say you Tsukki?

Go alone
Ask Kanata to come
Have Yoh-kun come along
Look, if Tsukiko were the type of girl who was afraid to do stuff for herself do you think she would be here girling up this all boys school? I think not! KanaYoh worry too much. Tsukiko assures them she’ll be fine and later in the day she goes in search of OS-kun to return the letter and let him down gently. She’s sure if she’s honest he’ll understand.
After it’s all said and done, she finds Suzuya waiting for her outside the classroom. He gently asks if it went all right and she says she thinks so. The slight unsettled feeling she had disappears the moment Tsukiko sees his face and she feels like she can relax. She doesn’t know why, but she feels bad a little. Suzuya assures her that just because one person has feelings for another there’s no guarantee the other person will like them back. It’s just a fact of life. No need for her to feel bad.
By the way, was he waiting for her all this time?
Yeah, he admits, just in case…
Tsukiko teases him for worrying, but is happy he did so just the same.
Tsukiko shyly admits this whole ordeal made her a little scared. Of what? He raises his heckles, did OS-kun do something to her after all?! No, no! She shakes her head quickly, not about that. It’s just…she looks up at Suzuya worriedly, what will he think when she really does find someone she wants to be with? He looks a little sad but answers honestly that he’ll be sad to let her go but intends to support her.
He means it too.
I think that’s what I like about Suzuya’s character. I feel you Suzu-kun. I feel you.
But why does she ask?
Tsukiko just shrugs and says no reason really. She supposes it just never occurred to her before.
Suzuya huffs and tells her to stop looking so gloomy. All he wants is for her to be happy. He’s there for her. Believe in him, okay? Tsukiko relents, and calls him a good friend. For a split second, a shadow of something like...conflicting feelings crosses his face. Before she can dwell on it though, he’s back to normal and reaches out to affectionately pat her on the head. This time it’s Tsukiko who feels a twinge of something…
