i've seen some people already speculating about this but like. if majima's washed up with amnesia because he's coping with losing kiryu, then would nishitani, sagawa, and shimano be hallucinations of his (temporarily forgotten) past? like, subconscious memories that are resurfacing from his immense stress and grief. just a whole mental mess that may have been what sent him into the ocean in the first place.....

nishitani being the comfort of an old friend, especially during difficult times, while sagawa and shimano being a reminder of the pain and torment he no longer feels since losing his memory
