Narcistoru/secretoru: Yeah i can gurantee this is the only submission for them for Some Reason. Because no one ships them. Like i have searched the internet far and wide and turn up with like. Close to literal zero. And here's the thing, this is entirely illogical. They work together in this evil group and their deals are essentially that they're. Unhappy people. At first you think they're just annoying but actually they're annoying snd Extremely Miserable. In silly ways, they are such losers and so cringefail. I could write an essay on both of them individually, but basically i love how their focus isn't on being better people, it is on being happier. Individually.

The show is divided into clear parts of who is the main antagonist at the time which really makes you FEEL how unhappy they each are. They're a group but they're also not bc they choose to be unhappy ad get on each other's nerves about it and that's a prime focus of their characters. Anyway, these two make me insane, they spend a lot of time together during the middle part of the show, bc the first villain is gone so now it's just the two of them and their leader who isn't doing much yet. After this part, one of them, narcistoru, is defeated so he's gone for the time being. But these two, they hate each other SOOOOOOOO much it's insane. This is because Narcistoru is an annoying bitch and Secretoru hates that. And they're both generally insane people with dumb beliefs and issues that they view wrongly. It's just so glorious to see them annoy each other so much. Post Narcistoru's main screen time, he gets his conclusion episode. He escapes from prison and Secretoru is supposed to retrieve him. But like not because they need him, in fact, they absolutely did not care that he was arrested because none of these people give a flying fuck about each other. It's just that he wasn't supposed to be a risk. Secretoru and Narcistoru have a rather petty and hilarious fight. Because you see. Now they don't have to get along. They are not on the same side. So the hostility is really thriving here. In fact, she manages to capture him, and while fighting the pretty cures (magical girls), hensays some annoying shit and she goes "actually i changed my mind" and shoves him off this rock in order for the monster (they always summon one) to fucking kill him. Like she tries to murder him in cold blood soley because he's annoying and this was entirely inevitable actually. She wants that twink obliterated. They don't bring this up again in the finale when they're both in prison. They just. Kind of hang out now. They've reached a level of tolerance.

And you may think "why do you ship this" LOOK. THEIR INTERACTIONS. ARE SO FUNNY. IT'S JUST. A VERY FUN SHIP. BECAUSE THEY'RE HILARIOUS. The hostility is so great and i think it would be neat if they had some t4t hatesex. It would solve nothing. They mske each other so much worse. But it would be very hot. Also secretoru has a general "can you shut the fuck up" attitude towards him. I don't even technically ship it but i ENJOY the ship.

And yet. I am so alone in this which is insane because i definitely expected ship content for them even before i actually wanted it myself.

But no, of course people ship Narcistoru with actual fifteen year olds. Like so much. And there is ZERO content for the ship with the other Actual Adult that he interacts with on a regular basis and who he has a fantastic and entertaining and INTERESTING dynamic with. So basically, i am not just sad, i am also SO SALTY. They are so insanely rarepair despite being an absolute epic duo. Awesome crackship, 10/10, literally comedy

Obiwan/grievous: Ok so this is a HUGE crackship and some people are not going to agree but like, Obi-Wan is what comes to mind when you think of the jedi and Grievous hates the jedi as a whole because he believes them to the cause of his mutilation and the suffering of his people, but the jedi are not the ones who did this. Grievous is a pawn in the game of the sith and he doesn't realize that his mind has been altered against his wishes or that he will be desposed of as soon as the war ends. Obi-Wan is a compassionate man and is able to consistently go toe to toe with Grievous, making him a rival Grievous can't help but respect in a weird way (his people are warriors, for all we know, fighting could be a method of flirting to his people yaknow? And obiwan genuienly flirts as a way to throw off his enemies, think of the comedic potential if Obi-Wan didnt realize how MUCH hes been a flirt or if Grevious acctualy gets flustered by it because obiwan is such a competent fighter and IF ONLY HE WASNT THE ENEMY-) If Obi-Wan knew what happened he would have tried to make amends and help his people, and if Grievous learned that it was Dooku (a former jedi turned sith) who turned him into a monster against his will, he'd probably be willing to team up with Obi-Wan to bring down Dooku and the Sith plans for Galactic domination to avenge and to protect his people, and they would be an absolute powerhouse since they are already familiar with eachothers way of fighting and from a writers point of view its filled with so much potential angst and drama, and hijinks, and even enhances the plot and creates parallels between the two that the franchise has never bothered to make and it has so much potential even if they don't fall in love they could be really good friends/partners/allies and if order 66 goes as planned they would be badass rebels its such an overlooked possible dynamic PLEASE 🥺

Nightmare Polycule: The cursed creation of like. 4 people on a niche fandom discord. Polycule consisting of pretty much every adult character in the series. It's awful and somehow the best thing ever. The potential for both crack and angst is unmatched. The divorced parents energy is OFF THE CHARTS. Marcia realizes she is a morosexual and has a crisis about it. Gringe confronts his prejudices by falling for a no-good wizard. Jillie Djinn is Marcia's ex and also dead and also GHOSTING ON HER COUCH which makes it very hard to bring her boyfriends over. I do partake in trans joy with trans friends, in fact almost all of my friends who aren't cis women, are trans people. Trans women are pretty much the center of my life in that respect, seeing as they're the only people I'm interested in forming an intimate life-long partnership with.

If anything its BECAUSE I see myself as a woman in my subconscious that the sexism some trans people expound hurts me so much. And, when they do that, within my head I cannot think of any rationalization other than "they do not really see themself as a woman like I do". I don't know how else to explain it in my head. I think there's a lot of fun parallels and intertwining themes to be found in their extant relationship, and I definitely enjoy looking at the cute fanart I've seen of them on occasion. I probably would ship it if my lesbian Scary hc wasn't so real to me! I would absolutely adore seeing them in a qpr though - I actually really like the idea of the teens all being in a qpr together. Nobody comes between Scary and her boys 😤😤😤 Nonetheless, Link and Scary have such an interesting dynamic and I feel like it's very much been a highlight over the past few episodes - I mean, Link breaking the anchor of love as an act of solidarity with Scary? I just think there is SO much potential for exploring a romantic relationship between the two of them - or even something like a qpr, if you wanna go the Sparoace route! Literally could not get to sleep last night because I was thinking about them so hard. Similarly to Oakworthy, both Nick and Sparrow have such deep-seated issues regarding identity - Sparrow seems to define himself by being half of a matched set and doesn't really let himself be anything other than the Sparrow part of Lark-and-Sparrow. Nicky, of course, has. Gestures at the entire latter half of s1. And I think that if anyone can understand what either of them are going through, it's each other - and maybe they can just exist together. Without labels or expectations - not Nicholas, Jodie's son, or Sparrow, the more stable twin, or Nick, Glenn's son - just being Nicky and Sparrow and maybe also being in love. I also just think the imagery of it is wonderful - druid and demon, summer and winter, life and death, plant life and fire. Real Hades-and-Persephone type shit, which I personally love to see!

So sorry to all the Nark stans out there but Sparrow/Nick has so thoroughly taken over my brain. I do love the idea of this ship - not only the aesthetics (hehe the demonic savior and the fallen angel), but the tragedy of it all - how the love may have been there, and in another world it may have been enough, but that world isn't this one. I have read many a Nark fic and I'd be hard-pressed to find one I didn't like, but it's not my go-to ship, personally. timeloop story!!!!

OH HI HELLO OK THANK YOU ANON FOR ENABLING TO TALK AT LENGTH ABOUT MY OCS HEHE

so the story starts when camila (he/she) and matthew (he/him) are. created I guess? basically their main deal is that theyre human-adjacent. I say often that theyre basically anomalies within the universe that Should Not exist. theyre also perpetually a certain age (I think like 24ish) and always have been which leads to! existential crises as you do

but the universe can cope with two of these anomalies existing separately right? its only when they meet that the Problems and Horrors begin

basically when they meet theyre obviously strangers but essentially they end up dying together on a beach. it becomes strange after that when they are revived and eventually meet again. and when they die again after that. and again. you wont believe what happens next

so every time they die, matthew reappears somewhere random across the world and can Somehow end up coming back to camila who is (understandably) pretty annoyed that he doesnt have any means of knowing where matthew is. like the argument gets resolved but the lack of control is a pretty big point of contention. camila does sometimes get conversations with this like. entity that calls itself the universe but neither I or camila know if it's being facetious. im not sure what their deal is tbh. anyway yeah she sometimes gets to talk to them while being dead but theyre kind of a dick and it doesnt really help anyone but is somewhat useful in somewhat giving him an explanation. idk I kinda like nebulous and enigmatic characters (mainly bc I added them on impulse and idk really why) who are also just generally not fun to be around. hits it with a big cartoon hammer. anyway yeah that maybe evens it out a bit?

also sometimes when they die and are revived they (mainly matthew) get some sort of mutation like matthew is vaguely a vampire and also sometimes has 3 eyes depending on how I want to draw/picture him. camila also gets pigeon wings (specifically quite pale grey pigeon wings). he also one time woke up with idk just. free top surgery happened and theyre both like woahhhh holy shit this is epic

anyway it at some point becomes discovered that it's the act of them being together that causes the loop of dying and revival to happen bc like. their aforementioned anomalous status in the universe is ok on their own but impossible and overall Bad when they're together so the universe responds by. repeatedly killing them. this is confirmed to their great reluctance when they try to deliberately stay apart after they die one time and they just... dont die...

but by this point theyre like. very close (theyre queerplatonic and t4t and desperately in love. you know how it is) so they! decide theyd rather be stuck in this loop

ALSO at some point they end up working at this haunted house in the middle of the countryside with my other characters aoife and lauren (both she/her) who I! can very much talk about also if you want hehe

overall id say the main themes I wanna convey in the story (ive written a bunch of prose about them hehe but no like. concrete chronological story really) are 1. agency and 2. love as a choice and soulmates as a decision.

I am VERY into platonic zelink, ranging from Twilight princess's colleagues but from different departments that sometimes see each other at the office and know nothing about the other except that they're apparently A Huge Deal in their respective departments suddenly have to collaborate on a project and grow weirdly close but still in a stilted colleagues typa way

to botw/totk's we've barely talked but we have this intense emotionally charged companionship bc we've searched for and thought about and been each other's purpose for so long that we've become a permanent part of each others identities and also we're both out of touch with time and intrinsically different from everyone else which gets so damn lonely but you're like me and a part of me and ME but in a different body all at once typa soulmates.

But the only real difference between romantic and platonic love for me is like?? kissing?? I guess. And as long as you give each zelink reincarnation the unique personality and flavor they deserve then they can smooch day in day out for all I care. But I think skyward sword zelink is the only one that feels canonically romance-coded to me.

I'm also a very big fan of poly zelink in a multitude of constellations 👀 I'm beta-ing this fantastic botw Zelda/Link/Ganondorf fic called Interim and it's just got the characterization spot on for me I'm so happy. Zelda being an existentially fatalistic and religiously traumatized mega-nerd that has to stop herself from info-dumping and is both one hundred years old and barely an adult at the same time, and Link being like an old spirit creature you spot in the woods that looks right into your soul and you don't know if you want to pet it or bow to it, while also just being a strange little guy that all the village ladies like and you can randomly see selling 57 frogs to some guy at a stable. This whole fic just captures them so well :')

I especially like this tension between them barely knowing each other and feeling like the other is inscrutable while also feeling like they're the same person, not in a my other half typa way but like Zelda's voice in Links head is just as much Link's inner voice as his own, and Zelda watches over Link as if her consciousness has taken its own form and is watching her original body from a new outside perspective? Ok very abstract BUT THATS HOW I FEEL ITS LIKE IN BOTW and thats so special to me

I read this fic before totk and it is FUCKING ME UP NOW HOLY MOLY like the new layer of emotions this fic added and then seeing them get separated again is so so heartbreaking

OH YEAH and the gender bit ofc like any sane person I'm obsessed with whatever Links got going on gender-ways, but also Zelda historically has done so much stuff that's interesting in that department? Where my t4t link x sheik at??? huh!!!?? also the range of Zelda's identities over the timelines is so crazy she's got weird gender swag for sure. Ok now to be annoying about a completely different flavor of Zelda: That cartoon from the 80s that has aged so poorly I take psychic damage every time I watch it (which has been multiple times (I have problems)). A few months ago when rewatching and being sick of the Link's personality from the show (his best feature is how funny the "Well excuuuuse me, princess" line is) I was like "I wish the quiet kid from the games/art was here instead" and accidentally thought too hard and made an au/rewrite of the cartoon lmao.

Anyways Zelda cartoon au where cryptid boy Link saves the post apocalyptic Hyrule of loz 1 and chills in the castle with cartoon Zelda to defend the triforce pieces that they have while trying to find the last piece before Ganon can find it, stumbling across the sleeping loz 2 Zelda along the way lol. Hijinks ensue as he teaches Zelda the brawns to back up her girlboss and he gets an adventure buddy because its dangerous to go alone and Zelda with her boomerang and crossbow goes hard. I think a monster of the week style plot works for the earlier Zelda games, but an overarching plot could coexist with that since that is kinda how games work lol.

As per usual here are a bunch of slapdash barely related sketches of my ideas with my expanded thoughts below bc I think it'd be fun to share:

I look at the official art of Link being a quiet determined little dude with a backpack of tools and wish that that was represented more. Like look at him! What a guy! Imagine giving a quiet puzzle solving 14 year old a sword, lethal magical weapons, and a wasteland to explore! I would love a show about that! In terms of other characters, swap out that annoying fairy character, put in a Navi clone, at least Navi didn't have a crush on Link🤮. Ganon can stay the same so long as he was always a demon pig and was never a Gerudo man because unlike Nintendo, I do not want to imply that the only prominent man of color in the series has only one big braincell thats just screaming "EVIL" on loop. But! Keep Zelda the same, I love her so much in the cartoon, she's obnoxious in a slay girlboss way, maximum vibes. By virtue of not having a paper thin plot, most other characters that were fine get fixed by proxy.

I think plot wise? It takes place a few years after the first game. Initially, Link saved the royal family and they started rebuilding that area of Hyrule, and Link traveled around to help people. One day, Ganon's minions start making attacks on the castle to steal the triforce pieces back to revive him fully, and a Zelda who greatly admires Links steps up to defend the place. Eventually, Zelda requests Link return to help defend the castle while they search for the mysterious hidden third triforce piece in order to combine the full thing and wish for peace in Hyrule. Link agrees and the hyjinks begin.

IIRC the og Link backstory was that he was the son of the hyrulean queen and the elf king or smth? In the manga? I didn't want him to be hylian royalty but I wanted to keep that cryptid vibe, hence why I have him related instead to the great fairy and the kokiri. He just leaves the forest/cave one day with literally nothing to go save Hyrule, what a chad. I think it'd be funny if people describe Zelda as feral due to how boisterous and headstrong she is, especially out on the field, but Link is the quiet version of wild that you don't notice at first. She is openly intelligent and snarky in comparison to "says 3 lines a day, bombs first and asks questions later, explore under every rock and bush" forest kid Link.

It would be fun though if "rushes into danger" Zelda resonated more with the triforce of power and "solves dungeon puzzles for funsies" Link with the triforce of wisdom, then they both resonated with the triforce of courage upon finding it. idk tho lol

I also think two different young Zeldas coexisting with each other after one awoke from a cursed slumber would be really funny. Like that's gotta be so awkward, especially if one has the fighter girlboss slay up to 11 and the other just woke up from a coma to her family gone and her kingdom destroyed and just kinda wants to read books and drink tea in peace. Imagine being the same age or older than your great (great?) aunt. Or imagine if the old lady Impa nursemaid to Zelda 1 Zelda was the young Impa nursemaid to the Zelda 2 Zelda. Wild.

If I wasn't incapable of remembering to finish writing wips I'd write that series lol. Alas, this is all I can pull for now.

I'd love to call this propaganda to go watch the show but maybe don't because its yikes. This is moreso propaganda for someone to make a Zelda cartoon show instead of the movie that I sense Nintendo is plotting to make. Also, if you've read this far, I should mention I also will probably be posting art from some of my actual long term Zelda aus beyond just expanding on the cartoon, though I may continue to do that if my train of thought continues on these tracks.

Lois & Clark S2 recap

Brain is on fire.

Flippin' characters have gone to therapy and it wasn't portrayed as a joke or as a combative relationship, and they identified things in their lives that they wanted to change and then they did?! Truly remarkable.

The Lois/Clark slowburn was exquisite. Particularly thrilled with how painfully awkward their first steps were, like, the classic TV thing is to do the will-they-won't-they for as long as possible to maintain the narrative conflict of them not being together in order to avoid the narrative resolution of them getting together, and frequently the lengths shows will go to to do this are frustrating and stupid. So what they did here was, they did that just shy of it being frustrating and stupid, and then they had a handful of episodes about them being together but in the most shy painful awkward way, and THEN they went back to finding reasons to keep them apart.

And while some of those reasons are still frustrating and stupid (Mayson was tolerable but Dan was just Mayson but worse), the main antagonist for their relationship was Superman.

Oh, and I mean, the main protagonist of S2 is the Lois/Clark romantic relationship! And the thing standing in their way is Clark's secret. That's literally the only thing the second half of the season is about!!!!! I mean, sure Intergang's all over the shop, but that's just plot stuff to give the characters something to do week to week, the Clark-has-to-run-away-from-Lois-mid-sentence-and-Lois-deserves-better-than-that is the issue that gives the plot stuff meaning.

S2's a 22-episode slowburn treatment of Spiderman: Far From Home lololololol

Great! Loved it!! I wanted them to get together, but I did also want a comment on Clark's unavoidable duplicity. And I got it! Less of a personal introspection plotline than I envisioned, but it's 90s TV so we got a real thorough show-not-tell execution which actually I super appreciate. It was less about Clark's thought process and more about the consequences of whatever it was. Actually, that execution of the concept really brings Lois' side of things front and center, so I have no complaints.

The most mind-fire I had was during the one episode where Lois temporarily finds out, and I was like WHOA. WAIT. HOLLLLLD ON. Sorry, turns out I was waiting for this catharsis, the literal (for Clark, vicarious and figurative for me) unmasking storyline all along. Clark being 100% Clark with Lois, something something authentic self, ok, yes sir, sign me up, and yes, I will be spending another hour talking to my therapist about Superman I guess.

Also further to the topic of gender envy, you (read: I) can tell when a character's really triggered it when I start headcanoning him as trans. That started somewhere in S2!! Something something more relatable = more projecting = more relatable.

Anyway, you can rip t4t clois out of my cold dead hands.

Other thing I loved was the Kents as the perfect wholesome American nuclear FOUND family. Martha, Jonathan, Clark, and honorary member Lois, none of them are related!!! But they're still perfect and wholesome and all-American and beautifully familial, and nobody comments anything to the contrary. 15/10.

In less exciting news, 3x02 is the first one written by buckleming, I gotta go to sleep so I'll have to see how it goes, but actually so far it's on par with the average episode. OH LOL FUCK this guy's a head in a mechanized box, I forgot about that. Literally the most insane thing to happen on this show to date, and one time Superman prevented an airborne virus from killing all of Metropolis by freeze-breathing it into a huge icicle he then javelined into outer space. They're the executive producers this season, so ADVENTURE AWAITS I GUESS.
