~ The next day ~
Muu: "Oh! My lord, the butlers are gathering in the yard. The ones over there—it's Lato, Flure, Ammon, and Lamli, isn't it? What are they talking about?"
Lamli: "A costume party in the yard... Fufu, it's going to be fun ♪ We'll call it… "Devil's Palace Horror Night"! "
Lato: "Kufufu. That's a good name. Let's make everyone who visits the mansion as thrilled as possible."
Flure: "Horror night is fine... But don't scare them for real, okay? The purpose of this party is to entertain the visitors."
Ammon: "Right on. Let's make it a fun and cheerful Horror Night!"
Lato: "I agree. This year, the lord will be there... Let's make it a fun and memorable party. Well.... We were asked to be the dancers. Our role is to make the costume party more exciting with dance performance, and since I am the oldest among the four of us, I would like to take the lead this time."
Ammon: "What… Mr. Lato will?
Lamli: "Uhh... that's…"

The Shenanigans of the New Avengers: Food Fight
"Yelena why did you wake me up if you aren't going to cook breakfast for us?" Kate whined plopping in the chair at the kitchen table.
Yelena made her way over to fridge to pull out the jug of orange juice, and poured herself a glass. Before going over to join Kate at the kitchen table. "I woke you up to train if you and I are going to be partners. Then you're going to have too step up your game Kate Bishop."
"Hey I held my own against you, those Tracksuits guys, and Wilson Fisk." Kate reminded her offended that the blonde was still underestimating her.
"I held back, the Tracksuit Mafia are low level criminals that any idiot with half of your training could take down, and I'm pretty sure Wilson Fisk was trying not to hurt you." Yelena countered counting down with her fingers.
"Just because I haven't been training my entire life, and just became an Avenger doesn't mean I'm any less skilled. We can go spar right after you cook us some breakfast." Kate proposed hoping Yelena would agree to the last part. Her stomach started growling indicating just how hungry she was.
"Nice try Kate Bishop but no if you want food then cook it yourself. You're more than capable and unlike your apartment. There are plenty of kitchen utensils for you to use."
Kate opened her mouth to argue again, but Yelena held a finger up to her mouth shushing the archer. At the sound of two more voices chattering and laughing. The voices were familiar and both were approaching the kitchen.
"I got a better idea why don't we get the newbies to do it" Yelena said with a grin.
Kate frowned "how are we going to do that?"
"Easy we'll trick them by saying it's initiation or something."
"Yel for one that's wrong and they might not fall for it, and for two wouldn't that mean we should be cooking for them. Both of them joined the Avengers long before we came along."
"Oh come on it's just a little fun and it doesn't matter both of us are older than them. We can use that against them plus I'm pretty sure both of them fear me. This can work as long as you play along."
Kate opened her mouth to argue against the plan, but closed it when Yelena snapped at her. "Do you want breakfast or not?"
"Fine but we're only doing it this one time" Kate warned her. Not wanting this to become a regular habit for the blonde assassin.
Seconds later you and Peter walked into the kitchen side by side still dressed in your pjs. Unlike Yelena who woke Kate up at the crack of dawn to get an early head start on training. The two of you tended to sleep in whenever you guys could, and train later on. Most of the time you and Peter used the common criminals as training targets on morning patrols of the city.
"Good morning Kate and Yelena how are you guys? You greeted them with a cheerful smile taking a seat at the island. Peter headed straight for the fridge, and started pulling out various items.
Yelena shot Kate a look over his actions. It looked like Peter was about to start cooking anyway. Where was the harm in making a small request.
"We're good still a little tired from the early morning training session though." Kate answered sitting up in her chair a bit more.
"Yeah but you know what would make us feel better y/n?"
You looked up from scrolling on your phone. "What?"
"Some of your world famous pancakes, and Spidey's delicious scrambled eggs."
Her answer made you and Peter shot a quick glance at each other. Before turning back to look at Yelena. "You want us to whip up some breakfast for you two." It was a statement not a question.
"Yeah why not I mean it looks like you were about to cook anyway Peter."
"Yes for me and my partner. The two of you are always going out and getting food without us. Why should I cook for you?
"Yeah Peter was about to cook not me why should we?" You agreed folding your arms together on the counter.
Yelena answered before Kate could. "Because it's the right of passage when Kate first met Clint, she cooked for him for the entire mission. Plus I use to cook for Natasha all the time, and for a Kate when we first met. Kate and I didn't mean to leave you two out all the time, but we weren't properly introduced to you guys till a week ago. You know when you two finally started living here at the compound."
"Okay I still don't see how it's rite of passage we cook for you." You pointed out with a frown.
Kate shot Yelena a look indicating they should let the plan go, but the blonde was determined. "Because you're the newbies and we've been here longer. Just think of as initiation to the new Avengers."
"I guess that makes a little sense" Peter said with a shrug. You looked as if you wanted to continue to protest, but when he placed a hand on your shoulder, and nodded for you to join him. You caved getting up to join at the stove where the ingredients for the pancakes were already out.
Kate and Yelena waited until your guy's backs were too them before fist bumping each other. A few minutes passed by with you and Peter cooking in silence. Other than the occasional whisper to each other. At some point Kate got up and started setting the table up despite Yelena's silent protest. She figured it was the least she could do if you two were going to cook, and while Yelena didn't know it yet. She had every intention on making the blonde do the dishes. There was no way they were going to treat their teammates like servants. Even if they could getaway with it.
Yelena was scrolling through her phone watching funny dog videos. When you paused and turned around with mischievous look in your eyes. She didn't like it all.
Peter noticed it too and paused with a pan in his hand. "Is something wrong y/n."
"Yeah Pete we've been duped by these two."
Peter frowned.
"If this is initiation shouldn't they be cooking for us. After all weren't we brought onto the team long before them. If anyone is the newbies it's them not us" You explained.
Peter's eyes widened once he realized you were right, he placed the pan back on the stove, and turned around with the same look of mischief.
Kate halted in putting the plates on the table when she realized. You had caught on to their antics just as she feared. Yelena was slowly getting up out of her chair. Not sure of what you two were planning but knew that neither of you could be trusted. Kate turned around holding her hands up. "Easy guys come on the two of you have already cooked a good portion of food. How about Yel and I cook some bacon and sausage. We'll call it even and let bygones be bygones."
You and Peter both placed your chins in your hands, and looked up at the ceiling as if you were thinking about. Yelena was out of her chair unsure of what to do but wait. Ten agonizing long seconds went by before you and Peter shot each other a look. Then shook your heads and said "nahhhhhh."
The next thing Kate and Yelena knew pancake batter, flour, and egg yolks were flying towards them. Before they could really react some of it hit them in the face and upper body. That was all it took for them to snap out of the trance. Kate held up a plate to her face to protect it. While Yelena dove under the table to dodge incoming food fire. She moved the other chairs out of the way, so her hand could reach out, and snag Kate by the shirt. She tugged so hard the archer dropped to the floor with a yelp. The blonde wasted no time pulling her under the table, and out of the line of fire.
"I told you this would backfire on us" Kate shouted as the food onslaught continued. You and Peter were advancing on the two armed with food filled hands.
"Now is not the time can't you see we're at war" Yelena argued getting ready to arm her widow bites.
Kate's has widened in fear and she reached out to grab the blonde's wrist to make her stop. "We're not actually at war Yelena this isn't a real battle, and those two are our new teammates not enemies. You're not allowed to use real weapons against them. Its just a food fight our mission should be to get to the fridge. We would have unlimited ammo, and the advantage."
Yelena considered her plan for a few seconds before nodding. "Look at you Kate Bishop taking charge maybe you're not so bad."
Kate rolled her eyes and motioned for the blonde to follow her. Both of them kicked a chair out in your and Peter's direction making the two of you stumble to dodge it. Giving them enough time to move from underneath the table to head for the fridge.
"Peter they're going for the fridge" You alerted him because he was closer. Peter started launching globs of pancake batter to stop them, but they stayed low making him miss. You followed up throwing a egg yolk mixed with flour. By that time they had made it to the fridge where Yelena swung open the fridge door. The batter and egg flour mixture slammed into the door. Where the two were taking cover behind Kate rummaged through the fridge searching for something messy but not harmful. She stumbled upon some leftover mashed potatoes and pulled it out. Her and Yelena had to counterattack.
Neither you or Peter anticipated the retaliation coming, so when the blob of mashed potatoes smacked you in the face. You were absolutes stunned and paused your attacks giving Yelena and Kate the upper hand for the moment. Peter's spider senses alerted him so he ducked down as the food soared over his head. He moved tackling you to the floor behind the island. The mashed potatoes kept coming as Yelena started cackling like a evil villain.
Both you and Peter pulled yourselves up into a sitting position. Backs to the island y'all stayed low while trying to devise a new plan. "Maybe we didn't think this through."
"Since when do we think anything through Pete" You chuckled wiping your face with a discarded towel.
"Yeah well we need a plan."
"Simple one of us will draw fire while the other one gets more ammo." You told him nodding in the direction of the food sitting on the stovetop. Just a few feet away from you two, and far enough for the fridge that. Neither Kate or Yelena could get to without entering enemy territory.
"Okay I'll draw the fire you get the food." Peter agreed knowing with his spidey sense he would get hit less.
You nodded and held up a hand to count down silently when you got down to one. Peter jumped up catching a blob of mashed potatoes and throwing it back towards them. Now y'all were right across from each other with the kitchen island being the only thing standing between y'all. Kate saw you make a dash for the food on the stovetop, and turned back to the fridge for more food. While Yelena and Peter traded fire back and forth with each other.
Once the food was in your arms you made a dash for cover with. Peter following in your footsteps dropping low again behind the island. Kate threw food out of the fridge to the floor before pulling Yelena down behind the island. All of y'all were out of breath taking deep breaths. It was Peter who spoke up first "why don't we just call a truce before we ruin the kitchen."
"I think its a little too late for that" Kate called out. As if on cue a portion of pancake batter fell on Yelena's head from out of nowhere. "You two are dead." she yelled.
"Come on you two started this by tricking us" Peter argued.
"So you start a food war" Kate shot back.
"There's no way we're giving up" You announced.
"Fine then till the last team stands" Yelena agreed.
And before Kate or Peter could try and further reason. You and Yelena leapt up from the safety of the island to start launching food at each other. Neither of you were concerned with dodging anymore just focused on hitting the other. Peter grinned and with a battle cry joined you making it two against one. Until Kate realized that she couldn't leave Yelena alone to fight against you two. Even though she kinda of did deserve it after starting this whole mess. She backed her plan so it was only fair for her to see it to the end since they were partners.
For a while y'all were evenly matched with neither team gaining the upper hand. But ultimately Kate and Yelena held the overall advantage with having the fridge on their side. Which basically gave them unlimited ammo at some point you and Peter were starting to get low on ammo. At the point you realized that soon there would nothing left, and that would the two of you scrapping together stuff off the floor. You decided it was time to stop playing fair. "Peter don't you find it a little ridiculous that the two powered people are losing."
He groaned as some smushed banana hit him in the face and got in his eye. Courtesy of Yelena who was too busy celebrating that her and Kate were seemingly going to win, to realize what you were hinting at. "Yeah I think its time we turn the tables" Peter said rubbing his eye. You nodded and ducked down but not before Kate nailed you in the chest. Focusing on his webslingers you closed your eyes and opened your hand calling to the weapons. A second later the pair of webslingers appeared in your hand. "Peter come down here and suit up. I got this" You told him tugging on his pants. He dropped down to take the webslingers from you.
Yelena assumed both of you had retreated and therefore had given up. "Alright since you two lost now you have to clean the kitchen, and make us lunch." By the time the kitchen got cleaned up it would be well past time for breakfast.
"Yel careful it might not be over" Kate cautioned her partner.
"Oh what else could those two possibly do- her words were cut off when the bag of flour floated over, and dumped itself onto her head. Covering her entire body in flour you stood up with a smirk on your face. "Did you forget I have the power of telekinesis and teleportation."
"Ahhhhhh no fair Kate Bishop you said we had to play fair" Yelena cried coughing a bit from the flour.
"How was I supposed to know they were going to bust out the powers." Kate yelped as Peter shot up from behind the island and shot a web at her. So fast she didn't have time to dodge the web slammed into her stomach sticking her body to the fridge. Before she attempt to try and break free. He fired off two more shots at her hands forcing them to stick to the fridge as well.
Kate was trapped.
Yelena was too busy dealing with your telekinetic food onslaught too help her. If not she surely would've used her knives to cut through the web. Knowing you could handle yourself against the blonde Peter walked over to the forgotten case of eggs, and grabbed them. Then he slowly made his way over to Kate who eyes widened when she saw the near full carton of eggs. Her struggles increased but did no good.
"What the hell is this stuff made of?" she grunted frustrated.
Peter stopped right in front of her and shrugged. "Science" was his only answered before he cracked open a egg right over her head. The egg yolk fell into her hair and stayed put. He reached for another prompting her to plead.
"No come on Peter don't okay you win there's no need to open all of them. Please we're the reasonable ones out of those two right?"
"Yeah I guess you're right" Peter said with a nod making Kate sigh with relief. She glanced over where Yelena was somehow still putting up a fight despite you throwing as much food as you could with your telekinesis. Unlike Peter you let your opponent keep her mobility for a better challenge.
"But still you wanted breakfast and I can't think of anything better than a Hawkeye omelette" Peter said capturing her attention.
No no no I'm sor- Kate tried but it was too late another egg was cracked open. This time it slid down covering her forehead in the yolk. Peter burst into laughter and took out another egg at the same time. You let out a yelp as Yelena had finally given up on throwing food and tackled you to the floor. Where she pinned you and thrust her fingers into your stomach. You burst into giggles as your concentration was tickled away. And that was how the battle went on for a while. Peter made a mess of Kate's hair, and clothes with the eggs, because no matter how hard she struggled. She stayed stuck and Yelena wrecked you with tickles refusing to let up even when your slammed onto the floor. Indicating you were tapping out and had given up. The blonde assassin refused to take any chances with your powers.
It was Peter's senses started going off like alarm bells in his head. Alerting him to the approaching adults and the egg carton fell from his hand. As he took one good look around the kitchen realizing just how much damaged y'all did. The mess was everywhere with every part of the kitchen covered in messy food substance, and the chairs overturned. Peter started tearing through his webs that kept Kate pinned to the fridge. "I think Natasha and Clint are coming, we don't have much time to clean." He told her his movements becoming more frantic.
"What how are we suppose to clean this up in time?" Kate exclaimed. All of her anger replaced with fear of what their mentors would do to them. Ironically you and Peter would likely get off until Wanda and Steve returned from their missions. The only thing the two of you would have to suffer through till then was extra training if anything. Not to mention both of you could play the college card to get out of that. It truly wasn't fair.
"Yelena enough your sister is on her way" Kate whisper-shouted.
You let out a sigh of relief as Yelena's fingers finally stilled giving you freedom from the tickling. She looked down at you waiting for something.
"Fine you win I'll cook you breakfast" You gasped sitting up on your elbows.
Yelena nodded and finally stood up to walk over to Kate. "Alright what's the plan? How long do we have?"
"Maybe ten more seconds" Peter groaned reaching down to help you to your feet. "Y/N we're so dead."
Even though you were still getting your breath back. You were able to muster up a smirk that had him confused. "Are we?" were your last words right as Natasha and Clint appeared in the doorway of the kitchen. You and Peter disappeared in a blink of an eye before anyone could notice. They must have forgot you could teleport.
You teleported yourself and Peter to the locker rooms connected to the training gyms. "Let's get cleaned up before Nat and Clint come looking for us. There's no way those two don't blame us."
"Y/N you sneaky little devil this is so wrong and evil" Peter chuckled, already rummaging through a locker for a change of clothes.
"Round one goes to us."
Indeed Kate and Yelena tried to defend themselves as Nat and Clint stared them down. They insisted the two of you started it and teleported away to pin on them. Nat shook her head saying they would look into it meanwhile. Kate and Yelena were ordered to clean the entire kitchen by themselves then report to the meeting room for further punishment. Clint found you and Peter in the gym practicing some tag team moves. Both of you played dumb when he asked questions about the mess in the kitchen, and when Clint went to search the security footage. Somehow it was just gone he figured the kitchen surveillance was down. But in reality Peter used his gift from Tony to erase the footage.
You and Peter were on top for now.

"I can't believe you Eren, you fucking cheated." "It was just one time Mikasa," She was looking at him, disbelief burned into her face. "Do you even hear yourself right now? It doesn't matter if it was just one time", the sarcasm in her words evident. "You still cheated on me, you fucking scum." "Okay, and what do you want me to do about it", sounding bored and somewhat nonchalant. "I-I you're unbelievable you know what we're done. I'm sick of this, I'm sick of your bullshit and being treated like crap by you."
He finally turned his full attention towards her and away from his computer, "Fine but on your way out I need you to pack your things", his voice cold and flat. She was stunned. "You're firing me?" "It's in your contract darling, I'm the reason you have this job if you lose me you lose this job."
"You know what, that's fine I don't care, You're a dick and a shit boss anyway. "Mhm'', he said, returning back to the paperwork in front of him. Mikasa turned sharply, her heels squeaking against the cold tile floor, slamming the door on her way out. Only a few minutes later Jean slowly opened the door, "What was that all about?" "She broke up with me." "Jesus, Jaeger. I'm so sorry man." "it's fine don't worry about it, but I do need your help hiring a new assistant. "Oh come on really", Jean slumped down in the leather seat in front of Eren. Eren looked at him with a quizzical expression on his face. "I just mean that's all you care about, you just got dumped by a girl you've dated for five years and your first thought is getting a new assistant." "Your point being?" "you need to take some time for yourself or do something other than work." "Shouldn't you be doing something other than giving me relationship advice? " "No, I shouldn't come on. After work me, you, Armin, Connie, Levi, and Erwin should go out and get drinks." "No." "Come on man, it's Friday night, and you have literally no reason not to." "I have a corporate brunch tomorrow."
"Oh bullshit, come on Eren. Come out with us, we'll get drinks and it'll be fun." Eren looked at Jean knowing that he wouldn't stop bothering him until he agreed. "Fine but if anyone gets wasted I'm not driving anyone home." Jean tried to hide the growing smirk but based on the death glare provided by Eren he realized he fucked up. "Jean-" "I'm leaving, I'm leaving." Just as Eren heard the soft click of the door his phone rang, echoing in his office.
"Yes?" "Hey Eren, it's Monica." Her velvety voice made Eren freeze, "How did you get my number?" "Elliot gave it to me. So when are we meeting again dear?" "Never, don't you ever come near me. I-" "Aww come on I heard that that plank of wood you were dating dumped you. You've got no reason to not visit me." "She wasn't a plank of wood", Erens's words mumbled harshly under his breath. "As I told you what we did was and will remain a one-time thing" "Uh, huh. Darling I-" "Goodbye Monica'', then he hung up.
The rest of the day proceeded, as usual, with endless paperwork and meetings. The idea of sleep was more alluring than anything else on the planet but Eren was a man of his word and he pretty much promised to go out drinking. So when Jean and the rest of those who agreed to go knocked on his door, he reluctantly collected his things and left with them.
"So where exactly are we going?" "There's a bar on 47th and then a few blocks away there's a Strip club" Jean answered Armin's question in a sing-songy voice only to be cut off by Eren. "We are not going to a strip club." "Aww come on Eren let loose a bit" "We're not going to a strip club jean", Eren repeated firmly. "Jesus I forgot how scary you are when you're angry." We're gonna have to take separate cars since there's six of us", Jean said as they descended the elevator.
"Why not just take someone's car", prompted Armin. "I plan on getting wasted tonight, I mean I think we're all getting drunk right?, he looked around at the group. They went silent. "Awww come on guys, it's no fun if you guys don't drink." "You don't have to get wasted to have fun, I think you just have a problem", Piped Connie. Jean proceeded to death glare Connie until they got to the parking garage.
After a few moments of bickering mainly between Connie, Armin and jean they decided on getting a cab. So when the cab got there they squished into the car, Armin was practically sitting in Connie's lap, "I still don't understand why we can't just get another cab." His voice was muffled in Armin's back. "Because, brat since you all seem to not understand that in order to use a cab you need to have money to pay the cab driver, I could not afford to pay for all you brats to be seated comfortably." Levi finished a certain snark in his voice. Eren grimaced at Levi's tone, despite the fact that he was Levi's boss he had always slightly feared him. It was only a few minutes drive between the time Jean gave the directions and the time that the cab driver pulled over to let them out into the bar.
Now when Jean had mentioned that he wanted to go out drinking, Eren had in no way envisioned something classy but this, this was on a whole other level of shitty. They were in the Shiganshina District, which was known for their frequent shootings and drug rings. "Why Shiganshina?"Armin questioned, his voice shaky. "Oh, calm down Armin it's not that bad just don't do anything too stupid. "You're one to talk, Jean" Jean snapped his head back at Eren but was silenced by Connie shoving him into the bar, everyone following suit. The outside of the bar was spotless compared to the inside. The carpet flooring was caked in years worth of vomit and alcohol, the occasional spot of blood here and there. "Tch", Levi's face obvious with disgust. "I know it's not the cleanest but it was the closest to the strip club." "We're not going to a strip club." "Uh, huh", Jean pretended not to hear Erens remark and proceeded to sit down in one of the booths before pestering one of the seemingly high waitresses for a round of beers.
Eren had finished 3 beers within the first twenty minutes of them being there but that was nothing compared to the likes of Connie and Jean who had both independently downed eight beers and were working on their ninth. Considering that Eren had only drank a few beers the effects of the alcohol seemed to be working pretty fast, he was starting to feel slightly fuzzy and his thoughts seemed to be muffled under the sound of his heart and the noise of the bar.
Armin was completely trashed on the other hand, Armin as long as Eren had known him was a lightweight, he had only finished one beer and was currently nursing his second but was in a complete array of emotions. For a solid seven minutes he was laughing uncontrollably about seagulls' looks when they fly which turned into him sobbing uncontrollably about how he missed the ocean. Erwin was going on an angry rant about how mismanaged government funding was , Levi sat there silently agreeing with him the whole time.
Despite the fact that it was probably a bad idea, they continued ordering more rounds of beer until Jean began a very drunken speech. "We are brought here in sorrow and in celebration of Eren Jaeger, while he has lost his girlfriend of five years -hic- he has newly entered the dating pool and that's a cause to cheer for." The chaotic overlap of the rest of the men yelling caused the rest of the bar to look over at them. Erwin tried to drunkenly shush the group but that only resulted in them yelling louder at Erwin, "Shut up old man." "Yeah old man." The bartender glared at them, practically yelling at them , "Hey if you assholes don't shut up I'm gonna kick you out." "Yeah Jean." "Thats it all of you out." "Aww come on-" "Now."
Everyone hurried out of the bar careful not to stumble over their own feet. Armin almost face planted into the concrete but luckily Erwin was able to grab him by the back of the shirt. "Well , where do you guys wanna go now?" "Home", whined Armin. Eren felt electric, like there was a fire going on under his skin and he didn't want it to stop, he wasn't ready for it to stop. It was like the words came spilling out of him before he could understand or even think about what he was saying, "Lets go to the strip club."

Soul ties - Part 13/Finale (Bucky Barnes au)
“I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time”
Soul ties playlist : https://open.spotify.com/playlist/054hHxpYJ2rIluevfSaGRK?si=w1JkdfFwTjuXZMegQd9WHw
Waking up from your first night with Bucky was a feeling you would make sure you'd never forget. You knew he didn't get much sleep : you'd only been to his room once, but you'd noticed the single blanket on the floor, which somehow reminded you of Steve's bed in the early years of your friendship.
"You didn't even move," you said as you woke up with his arm around you. "I feel bad I kept you in an uncomfortable position."
"Don't. I couldn't wake you up for anything in the world," he joked. "Even when you snored."
"Lord, take me out of this misery," you complained as you got up from your bed, escaping Bucky's embrace. "You were joking, right?"
He grinned and shook his head no. Damn. You ran your brush through your hair and picked up your phone on your way to the bathroom to brush your teeth. Checking your messages, you noticed a text from Steve.
"Tony dropped off some papers for you. Didn't want to wake you guys up."
Your heart jumped as you realised what papers Steve was talking about. Divorce papers. You rinsed your mouth, put on some jeans and a T-shirt before telling Bucky about the special delivery.
"All I have to do is sign them, then drop them off at Darren's," you explained. "Best case scenario : he signs them right away and I get to go back with them."
Bucky was already seated and he was getting ready to go change as well. "And worst case scenario would be...?"
"He doesn't sign them at all, and I have to go through the court system," – you sighed – "which I really don't want to."
"It's not gonna happen," he assured you. "I'm coming with you to make sure of it."
"You don't have to do that, you know?"
"I want to."
You slowly sat on his lap, wrapping your hands around his neck. "I'm a really lucky woman." You couldn't help but smile before kissing him quickly. "Okay. I gotta go read and sign those papers. If you want to make some coffee while I do so..."
"Oh, I see, already taking advantage of my soft spot for you," he said. "I didn't think-"
"So you have a soft spot for me, huh?" you teased, a nervous laugh escaping your mouth.
"Did I say that?"
"Maybe. I guess we're even, then. Soft spots for each other sounds good."
You got up and put on your shoes.
"It does," he agreed. "Alright, I gotta make some coffee now."
---
"I didn't think I'd see you this soon."
"Well, I'm full of surprises," you snapped at your future ex-husband as you handed him a small stack of paper. "I need you to sign this."
Darren's eyes kept going from you and Bucky to the papers. He grabbed the divorce agreement hesitantly and read the title.
"What if I don't?"
"You will."
Bucky's low and stern voice had unsettled your interlocutor so bad he opened his mouth without saying anything.
"If you don't mind, we'll come in and make sure you sign these," you said as you made your way through the hallway of the building. "I also have some stuff I want back."
"Fine," Darren agreed grudgingly. "It's not like I have a choice anyway. I don't want your new pet boyfriend to attack me."
"He's not-"
"Let him," Bucky told you. "Please, let him give me an easy excuse to do it."
You held back a laugh : you knew Bucky didn't want to be involved in a meaningless fight. On the other hand, letting Darren believe this was a possibility seemed like a fun taste of payback.
"C'mon, Buck. He's not worth the trouble."
You grabbed his hand as you preceded Darren in the staircase that led to your former apartment. You took him to the bedroom you and Darren once shared ; you could see his face changing at the sight of the bed and decoration that still bore your mark.
"Are you okay?" you asked.
"Sure."
You got away from the wardrobe you were about to open and walked up to him.
"No you're not. Talk to me," you said as you stroked his cheek.
"This room is filled with memories," he whispered. "Memories that are his."
"And that's all he's got," you retorted. "Memories. That's the only thing he can cling to from now on, assuming that even means something to him."
"But it means something to you, and I don't want you to erase all that," he confessed.
"Bucky... I'm not erasing anything," you promised, knowing how hard it was for him to think he was stripping someone from their memories. "Life is about learning. If I hadn't been married to him in the first place, I probably wouldn't have met you. See? Learning from past experiences is not erasing said experiences. I know you're feeling like the bad guy here, but you're not."
"He looks miserable. That's kinda my fault."
"You didn't let me blame myself for this, and I'm sure as hell not gonna let you blame yourself either."
You smiled and kissed him on the cheek before going back to the wardrobe. Grabbing a bag and filling it with your remaining clothes didn't feel as heavy as it did when you'd last been here. Your chest felt ten times lighter, and you were convinced Bucky's presence had something to do with it.
"I'm good," you said. "Those are the only things I couldn't bring last time."
You left the bedroom and found Darren sitting at the kitchen table, his pen hovering over the divorce agreement.
"Could you get done with this already?" you asked softly. "I'm kind of in a hurry."
"You're so eager to leave me, aren't you?" Darren scoffed. "I thought..."
"What?"
"I thought you could make this work for us."
You let out a long, disappointed sight. "The very fact you think it's my job and mine only to make this marriage work is another sign of why it didn't," you pointed out. "I shouldn't have lied to you about my tattoo in the first place," you admitted, "but the way you treated me all those years was far from right."
"But I was good to you."
"No, you weren't."
Darren lowered his eyes and signed the final page. With a single hand, he slid the agreement towards you.
"Thank you," you told him. "I'm glad we could end this the nice way."
"It's really over, huh? You're just gonna leave with a guy you've known for a couple of months."
For once, there was no animosity in his voice. He sounded resigned more than he sounded sad.
"Yes. I might not have known Bucky for long, but he treated me the way I know I deserve. I'm not sorry you couldn't be that person, because there is someone out there waiting to meet you as well."
"Yeah, maybe."
You picked up the papers and went for the door, Bucky following you.
"Goodbye, Darren."
You didn't get an answer, as you'd expected. You went down the stairs silently and dropped your bag on the backseat of the car before sitting behind the wheel. Bucky sat in the passenger's seat, unsure of what he should say.
"Thanks for coming along," you ended up saying. "I think it helped me stay calm."
Bucky squeezed your knee gently as you started the engine : his hand didn't leave your leg for the rest of the trip, and you'd never been more thankful for automatic cars.
---
"Surprise," Natasha told you as she greeted you with a glass of champagne. "Steve told me the news."
"What is it we're celebrating, exactly?" you asked with a chuckle.
"Your divorce, of course! I couldn't make it to the wedding, might as well celebrate its ending."
"I'm-, oh god." Keeping things serious was impossible and the light-hearted feeling in your chest resurfaced. You thought you'd feel more guilt over divorcing Darren, but you knew now that it was the best thing to do.
Bucky laid a hand on your waist even though there were a few people around, and Nat handed him a glass as well. Wanda, Steve and Sam ended up drinking with you, and even Tony made an appearance. Laughing, talking and chilling with your family felt like an enormous relief after the past few weeks. Despite your surroundings, Bucky's hand couldn't seem to leave your body : your shoulder, thigh or arm or even your back... Maybe you weren't the only one who felt freed by signing those papers. You stayed up late that night, and Natasha was the last one to leave.
"Big day, huh?"
You nodded and snuggled up to Bucky on the couch. "About what you said earlier-"
"It's okay," he said. "I just...you have memories with him. I cannot pretend they don't exist, and-"
"Don't. They're not relevant," you said, cutting him off before cupping his face. "It's you and me now, Buck. Every moment in my life, every choice I ever made led me to you. So yeah, Darren and I share memories. Some of them are good. Some aren't. So what? You and I will make new ones, and that's what matters to me."
You pressed your forehead against his and closed your eyes.
"I'm in love with you," you confessed. "I'm in love with you and I've never felt it this strong, ever, and it's scary but it's also the most exciting thing-"
His lips crashing on yours interrupted your whole speech. His hand found the skin on your waist as he laid you down on the couch and kissed you with passion, enjoying the fact that the room was all yours. He pulled back, leaving you out of breath. He got up abruptly and extended his hand, grabbing yours and putting you back on your feet. Pulling you into a tight hug, he kissed your cheek and your neck.
"I love you," he whispered in your ear.
"I love you too," you said. You grabbed his hand on your waist and led him through the compound. You stopped in front of his bedroom and stood on tiptoe to plant a kiss on his nose. "Let's go make new memories now."
the end.

the bachelorette chp 4, part 3: visiting jean’s mom
an: so, i decided i'd write the elimination in a separate chapter, one, just to mess with y'all and two, to give you time. i honestly think picking one of these three guys is really hard. obviously, i know who i want to win, but i look at the two other guys and i'm like 'oh, they would be good too!'. i like pulling at your heartstrings ;). i'll probably put together another q&a (depending on the numbers of questions i get) and once i do that, i'll wait for a day and then close the poll to start writing! anyways, let me stop sharing my thought process with yall and start your date with jean. link at the bottom!

Bertholdt drove you back to the mansion and you texted Connie asking him to prepare something for you, Bertholdt. Jean and Connie to eat. And maybe a lil something for that brat Levi. Connie responded with an 'ok' and a smiley face.
The car ride home was silent. You felt awful for Bertholdt. You wondered how many silent post-hospital drives he's been through.
Once you got home, Bertholdt told you he wasn't very hungry and just wanted to lay down. You wanted to argue with him but Bertholdt needed space. You wish him good night before making your way to the kitchen.
Connie and Jean were chatting it up in the kitchen once you walked in. Connie was the one to announce your entrance. "Hey, y/n," he greets. Jean then turns around. "Hey, y/n. How is Bert holding up? I understand that visit was really hard."
"Thank you for asking, Jean. Bertie...well...he's just being human. His dad...it's really bad," you reply. You take a seat by Jean at the kitchen island. "The fact that he's been holding in for a while...it's crazy. I would have never thought he was in that situation. No wonder he was so stressed after that Porco got angry with him," Jean says. You raise an eyebrow at Jean. "Oh...after Porco got angry with him about you, Bert seemed sadder and more introverted than usual. He only really confided in Reiner, though," Jean explained.
"Ah, that makes sense. Poor Bertie."
Connie had made some garlic bread with ava ado toast and egg. You didn't expect that out of him but you all enjoyed it. You felt tired, so you told the guys you were ready to lay down. They wished you good night before diving into a conversation about...y'all i don't even know what men talk about 😐
The next morning, you woke up at the same time as you did for Connie's visit. Your final visit would be Jean's mom. She also lived far away from the mansion but Jean insisted that you could take your time. She would still be at her home. No nurses to rush you out or kids bugging their parents. You hoped this visit would be as peaceful as it sounded.
You were very hungry though. You didn't realize it last night about the whole Bertholdt thing and you only had those little stupid avocado things that Connie made. It was good but didn't feel you up. You decided you would take a bath and get ready for your visit later.
You crept downstairs, hoping not to wake anyone up. You didn't want Levi questioning you and you didn't want to stop and talk to the boys because you would probably have a day-long conversation and if that conversation was with Jean, you probably wouldn't see his mom.
You made a few turns and found yourself in the kitchen. And you weren't alone. Jean was leaning on the kitchen counter, sipping on some coffee that he had made. His eyebrows widened at your presence.
"Good morning," he greeted, "I didn't expect you to be up right now."
"Oh, I'm just hungry right now. Didn't eat much yesterday," you say. Jean places his coffee down on the table. "Would you like me to make you something?"
You were about to say yes but a greater idea came into mind. "Why don't we make something together? It would be fun and give you bonus points..." You wiggle your eyebrows when you say that last part. Jean let out a laugh. "Well, you're hungry and I can't let you starve. Us working together will make things faster...and those 'bonus points' would help a lot."
You walk towards Jean and his eyes remain on you. You find yourself wrapping his arms around his waist. It was just on-demand. Jean pulls you close and kisses your forehead. "What do you wanna make?"You think for a minute. "You know how to make (meal of your choice)?"
Whether Jean says yes or no is up to you. However, Jean is really good at following directions. If you need something, he'll get it. If you needed him to watch something, he watches it with intensity.
After a few minutes, the meal was ready and you both sat by the kitchen island and dug in. "I hope Connie doesn't wake up and butt into our breakfast," you joke. Jean let out a small laugh. "Connie's really nice. He hasn't shown me or anyone else any hostility during our time here."
"If you could say...who did you think was the worst person here?" you ask. Jean doesn't even have to wait to answer. "I'd have to Floch. Confidence is key but Floch just got disrespectful about it. Talking about how we should all go home and let him have you. And he was only here one night and everyone already had a bad vibe about him."
Your heart panged at that answer. "Thank you for telling me. I know everyone likes drama but Floch sounds...dangerous. I don't know what would have happened if he stayed." "Yeah, of course. Sorry if that made you uncomfortable," Jean said sheepishly. The discomfort must have been visible on your face. "No, don't apologize. I asked."
You continued to eat your breakfast and chat and hear about Jean's experience in the mansion so far.
After breakfast, you and Jean got ready for the day and finally decided to head out. Jean was starting his car when you decided to ask another question.
"I've never heard you talk about your dad. I've heard bits about your mom and you've mentioned her to the other guys but I never hear about your father. He isn't dead right? Is he sick? Like Bertholdt's?"
Jean is silent for a minute. "Oh...I don't really like talking about my dad, but you would have to know at some point."
"Oh, Jean...you don't have to. Don't worry about it."
He shakes his head. "It's fine. We were going to have this conversation pretty soon, so it doesn't matter."
Jean starts moving the car and when he's out on the road, he begins to talk.
"My dad has never been in my life. At this point, I don't know if he's dead or not. Sometimes I feel like he isn't my father. We did talk like once or twice when I was a kid and I was actually desperate to see him. But once I reached high school and started preparing for my adult life, I realized he wasn't worth it anymore. If my dad really wanted to be there for me, he would have reached out more often and let me know that things were hard on his end. I know everything I'm saying is being recorded and broadcasted, so if he ever sees me on TV, he can always hit me up. I just won't be naïve and stupid like I was the last time."
You immediately jump in after that last line. "Hey. You weren't naïve or stupid. He was stupid. You were a kid waiting on his dad. You had every right to wait for him, so don't insult yourself over him."
Deep down inside, you weren't sure if you wanted to meet Jean's dad...if he was alive. Jean didn't seem comfortable talking about him at all, so you shouldn't expect any visits or calls from that man. If you were to have kids and he popped up, that'd be hard to deal with. It would probably break Jean's heart to learn that his father would want to see his grandkids before even meeting the guy who helped make them.
Jean doesn't respond to what you said. Again, this was hard for him and he didn't even want to bring his father up in the first place, so you weren't upset.
You end up falling asleep in the car. Hours later, you wake up and Jean is parked in front of a bakery. He's on the phone. "Yeah, ma, we're here. Right in front of it, she's sleeping but we'll head inside....I miss you too...alright then, bye."
Jean hangs up and places the phone down. He jumps slightly when he realizes you're awake. "H-hey. I thought you were sleeping."
"Well, I was. Your mom is ready to see us?" You ask. "Yeah. She owns this bakery and decided to close completely today to meet you. I asked her if we could meet at home but she insisted that her bakery would be best. She's really proud of it," Jean explains. "Are we going to bake something?"
Jean laughs and shakes his head no. "Oh, no. My mom won't let you do any work in there, since you're a special guest. She put some things together if you want to eat something."
You imagined Jean's mother as someone who prioritized her future-in-law over her own son sometimes. It sounds overbearing but you thought this was a good thing. You wouldn't want an evil mother or father-in-law. If Jean were to cheat on you or hurt you, you knew she'd probably be on your side or hear both sides instead of immediately siding with her son.
You also wanted to assume that she was tough on Jean. Considering that she raised him herself, she had to do other things like work. To give herself some peace, she probably had a no-nonsense household- maybe why Jean was more like a puppy and wasn't as scandalous as the eliminated.
Jean got out of the car and helped you out. He didn't take your hand when directing you to the bakery but opened the door for you. Inside was a short, older woman, standing there with her hands clasped. The minute you stepped in, her excitement exploded. "Hi! Welcome! It's finally nice to meet you," she says. The older woman squeezes and you can't help but let out a chuckle...or a wheeze. "H-hey, mom. Maybe you should let her go," Jean steps in nervously. Jean's mom slowly lets go. "I'm sorry! I just got excited. Are you hungry?"
You shake your head. "No, Mrs. Kirstein. Jean actually helped me put together breakfast."
"Good, good. I'm glad he's being useful! And call me June. Come, sit, sit."
Jean's mom takes your hand and leads you to a small table and pulls open a chair for you. Jean quietly pulls a chair up by you. You start to worry about him because all the attention is on you, rather than the both of you.
"Can I get you something to drink?" June asks. "Some water would be nice," you answer. Your eye catches Jean's hand. You place your own on his and you feel him jump slightly. "Jean, would you like something too?"
"I-I'll take water too," Jean croaks. "Well, Jean, I'm sure you can serve yourself. I'm getting old, you know. Make sure you get a glass for y/n too."
Jean looks ready to argue back but he keeps his lips zipped. He carefully removes your hand from
his, gets up, and heads over to the back of the bakery.
You watch Jean do all of this and then finally turn away so that you can give June all your attention. "Please tell me he's been good to you," she starts. You weren't expecting this question but considers why she's asking. "Yes, Jean is...amazing. He's always coming to my defense. Which I shouldn't be surprised by, he is a lawyer."
June sighs in relief. "I hope he stays that way. He told you...about our situation right?" You nod. "It's unfortunate that his father did that to the both of you. If Jean does get married to me, I hope he doesn't pop out of anywhere. Jean's a good guy but I'm not too sure how he'll react to something like that." June let's our a small hum.
"Have you been watching the show?" you ask. "A little. I work, so it's hard to catch up on what's going on. Sometimes I'll read articles and Jean will text me to let me know if he didn't get eliminated. I was a little concerned about him doing the show because nothing is guaranteed."
"Hm...is he cocky about this whole thing? Does he really think he can get me?"
June thinks for a moment. "I can't say cocky but there's nothing wrong with a little confidence. Jean is handsome, he has a good job, he's smart- and he knows that. He believed those would be good reasons for you to like him. But...he does get bashful sometimes. He doesn't want all the attention on him and for people to view him in the wrong way. The fact that he had a mirror in his pocket on the first night was interesting to me. He's never done anything like that before."
You open your mouth but Jean enters once more. He places three water bottles on the table. "Sorry for taking too long. Ma, I'll replace the waters. Don't worry about it," he says. June shakes her head. "Don't worry about it, Jean. We have plenty of water."
"So, have you two discussed wedding plans? Anything for the future?" June suddenly asks. You look at Jean, who looks like his stomach was doing the chacha slide or sum. "M-mom-!"
"Well, we haven't reached that point because we don't know if he's staying or not but I'd like a really elegant wedding. I know we'll have a live-streamed wedding but I'd like to have a private wedding too. That would be nice right?" you cut in. Jean nods in agreement.
"What about kids? I read somewhere that you wanted a family," you tease. Jean's face reddened. "W-well...um...yeah...two would be nice. A girl and b-boy maybe?"
"See? We have a plan," you say with a wide smile. You could imagine Jean as a cautious dad but he still knew how to have fun with his kids. After long days at work, he'd cuddle with them and put them to sleep for you. When the kids are asleep, he'll check on you and make sure you had something to eat. He'd probably make sure to schedule regular date nights and family vacations. He'll have photos of you and the kids and maybe a few bandages in a wallet. Obviously, you would both be in the public eye once in a while but he would make things feel normal.
"I think you two would have beautiful kids. I do hope Jean gets picked. But your two other guys are good too. Bertholdt is absolutely adorable and Connie seems like he knows what he's doing. I don't know how you're ever going to choose. I can't imagine being your situation," June says.
"Wow, thanks for having my back mom," Jean says jokingly. "But if not me, pick Connie. He's a good person."
"Oh, Jean, don't do that to yourself. You're lovely." You cup his cheek and his reddened face returns.
Jean's mom starts talking about Jean when he was a kid- how he was such a big softie and a great helper, how he was popular in high school but still to himself, and all the girlfriends and boyfriends that she didn't like.
It was getting late. Jean's mom offered you her home but Jean stopped her before she could ask. You didn't question why he didn't want to stay at her home but still wondered why. You said your goodbyes, watched her lock the bakery, and drive off. Jean helps you into his car and gets into the drivers' seat.
"You know why she wanted to you go home with her?" he asks.
You shake your head no. "There's only one bed. A twin size bed," Jean says as he starts the car. You let out a chuckle. "Connie's parents tried that with us except Connie had a bigger bed."
Jean looks over at you. "Oh...I should have probably taken her offer."
"Connie and I didn't do anything that night...maybe you could give me a sample of what you can do. It'll help me decide."
Jean didn't hesitate to lean over and cup your cheek. He went in first. Jean was gentle and careful with your lips. You soon gave in and wrapped a hand on his wrist. When things started to get hot, you pulled away. "Didn't expect you to be that gentle...You really want me, huh?"
"Yeah," Jean says scratching his neck. "You're pretty rough... you have experience?"
Whether you say yes or no is up to you.
Jean smiles at your answer and starts driving. You try to fall asleep but it's so hard. All you can see is Bertholdt, Connie, and Jean at the next elimination. You wished Eren or Onyankopon did stupid stuff later on and were a part of the final three so that this could be easier.
Hours later, Jean reaches the mansion. He thinks you're still asleep. He doesn't want to wake you up. So what does he do? Jean opens the passenger door and scoops you up in his arms. Your heart jumps. You hope it's dark enough outside so that he can't see the small smile you're trying not to crack.
It doesn't Jean long to get to the door and ring the doorbell. He must be really strong. The door opens and he's greeted by Connie.
"You need help with that man?"
"Um...no...I think I'll get her up there. But you could get her purse from my car though. She'll probably wonder where that is."
Connie probably gave him a non-verbal response since there was just silence after that. Jean got you up the stairs and struggled with your bedroom door but he got in within ten minutes. Jean turns on your lights, places you on the bed, and removes your shoes. He steps away but you hear ripping sounds proceeding by scribbling. You can hear Jean turning off your lights and closing the door behind him as he leaves. Your eyes flick open and you wait a few moments. You turn on the light on your bed stand to see the note Jean wrote you.
'Wasn't sure what to do with your clothes. It's not my place to decide that- at least not yet. But I hope you slept comfortably.'
You smile softly at the note. It was definitely something he would say.

Reading your thoughts on the relationships in the bands brought me so much joy too, thank you for that!! I'd sign 85% of what you feel about them, especially Liam & everybody else is spot on for me.
Zayn is a tricky one - I feel Harry and him haven't been friends since 2014 and I'd love to know the reasons for this. From Harry's side it might be that Zayn's problems and Louis being involved, concerned, angry etc were a dealbreaker. I also think that Harry withdraws easily when lines are crossed and doesn't look back (thinking about Nick here, too). His bitterness about Zayn even years later suggests it was an important relationship for him or Louis or it represents a hard time in their life. We'll never know and I'm fine with it, not like with the Gryles friendship, here I really, really want to know what happened!
I'd be very much interested in your or other peoples' thoughts on the Larry/everybody else relationships if you find the time. To me, Liam again is quite straightforward. He is (was?) fierce with the Larry denials and torn up between "let them love in privacy" and "why do they need to make everything so difficult for everybody?" But mostly he wants love from both of them individually and he wants what they have. Sadly that doesn't seem to work out for him right now and Harry can't deal with the intensity of Liam's feelings, so he keeps his distance and doesn't interact with him as a part of a couple, only as a former bandmate, prompted by Louis. Harry and Louis as a couple is difficult for Liam for many reasons, not sure if Louis accepts that, Harry seems to.
Harry, who has felt loved his whole life, doesn't get Liam's brand of messiness. Maybe he regards their closet as a contributing factor to Liam's troubles during the band, which might be the same with Louis, who reacts differently to Liam nevertheless.
Louis is very, very good at making people feel loved and his instinct is to step up as a 'big brother' (which Niall doesn't need now and I guess has never needed from him). In my mind, I see Louis sighing in exasperation after a phone call with Liam and Harry rolling his eyes, but still giving Louis some extra undeserved kisses, because they've got what they've got (which might just be a different kind of mess, we'll never know ; ) but they seem so openly happy about it since 2019.
Sorry for the novel, but it was fun writing it, so that is that.
Thanks for your thoughts anon. And sorry it's taken me so long to repost this excellent ask!
First of all about Zayn - I agree about all of this (including the details not mattering to me compared to Gryles). I suspect that Harry withdraws easily when lines are crossed - but I also think he withdraws from people wanting things from him. I don't think what went down was Zayn wanting something from Harry - but you could tell a very interesting story where it was.
I tend to think Harry feeling like Louis gave a lot to Zayn that wasn't reciprocated might be a part of it. But I also think it's interesting to imagine what some of the repercussions on Harry and Louis of Zayn leaving might have been. As well as how Harry was feeling at the time.
The others relationship to Larry question is really difficult. I think there's lots of different ways of understanding it, both the way people relate to them as a couple as opposed to individuals. But then also the way people feel about and relate to the idea of Larry. I was thinking about the former, and have a couple of asks about it so I'll save them. But I think the question of the latter is also really interesting (and how possible it was to keep them seperate). I think you're absolutely right that Liam would have both defended them very much, and also been very frustrated that they couldn't stick to the rules. (A lot of the rest of what you say seems based on the idea that Liam wants what Louis and Harry has, and I'm not sure if that's true. I think he feels like he's supposed to want it. I don't know if it's what he actually wants).
I feel like there's a whole series of posts about the question of whether Harry has felt loved all his life. I don't think he has that surface level 'please like me I don't feel safe unless I'm making people happy' that Liam has. But I do feel like Harry does have his own (more deep seated, better hidden) drives to make people happy in a way that isn't always great.
In fact, I think in a lot of the ways that's the source of what's going on between Harry and Liam. Harry feels Liam wanting things from him, and he has to avoid Liam, because he can't handle the feeling of someone wanting things from him and not giving them.
Totally agree about Louis and Niall. But I think Niall doesn't mind Louis making him feel loved, and they kind of go along with it, even though they both know it's not really what's going on.
Anyway thanks so much for your novel - I love stories about how 1D members interact and welcome people sending me more.
#Even if sometimes it'll take months for me to post them#I do often take longer to take anons#the more intersting they are

She's Got A Date-EoWells X Allen!reader- Part III
*The GIF is not mine. All rights to the owner*
Part II
Summary: You headed out to have a drink with Iris, and after few cold ones, a realization dawned on you.
Warnings: None, besides alcohol. Drink accordingly, kids.
***
Iris invited you for some Girls' Night Out. You were reluctant to go out. The prison needs to be done chop-chop, so when 'The Mist' is apprehended, he'll have a place to rot in without harming anyone again.
And if you're being perfectly honest, you do want to go out, and talk and drink, but there are more pressing matters at hand. Much more than Iris' love life, and the game she chose to play.
Everyone left, except for Cisco who is in his own office. And since you don't have an office, shocking as might that sound with this place this big. You decided to stay in the cortex.
You like the solace when it comes to thinking. And dark places, weirdly. You turned off every light inside the deserted cortex, the only light illuminating the room was the display of Barry's suit and some lamps on the desks.
Nibbling on your pen, your feet up on the desk, you have been trying to get him off your mind. You had to leave the pipeline to cool off. It was hard doing something vital to the safety of people of the city and have your mind be plagued by something that revolves around your love life. It was very selfish. But you couldn't lie to yourself that it doesn't bother you; you're so distracted, and it's not the time to be.
You were pulled out of your reviere by a ding from your phone, thinking it's probably Iris, checking in whether you're still coming or not. You ignored it. She's being pretty insistent on going out; it means something happened. And it's Barry she should be pestering. You muted your phone for the sake of your peace of mind.
"Why are you still here?" Your head whirled around, taking your feet off the table. It was Wells behind you. You were startled, but not enough to make you jump or flinch. You didn't even hear him come in, perhaps you were just too caught up in your thoughts… of him.
"Why are you still here?" You were surprised. He disappeared hours ago, you thought he left without saying goodbye, because of what happened earlier. You would've done the same thing, as immature as that sounds.
"I want to see how the prison will turn out," he answered nonchalantly, moving beside you.
You straightened in your seat, clearly uncomfortable with his presence. You cleared your throat. "Well, I have to build it,"
"I think Cisco and I will be able to handle it perfectly fine if you go out for one night." He said, acting a little bit too normal.
"I know," you murmured. They're both adults and definitely much smarter than you, they can more than handle it, but it's hard to leave, but not
"Good. Then go out with Iris. Have fun," he insisted.
You brows furrowed, giving him a confused look. "Dr. Wells, I have to get—"
"It's okay. We'll be fine," he interrupted.
Your lips parted to retort, but he stared at you, eyes didn't even contain a hint of playfulness. You knew his eyes so well. And it made you more confused why he was pushing to go out and act like nothing happened, like you didn't just have the conversation earlier.
"Are you sure?" You questioned. Just to be safe, in case he was playing.
He nodded. He was giving you a seal of approval. You can't really disobey the boss, and besides, it might be well-needed. Just to get over what's been bothering you, and be more focused on work without thinking of Wells. It might be helpful. Or not. It's booze, you're taking it.
You heaved your chest in defeat with a grateful smile. "Okay. Fine." You stood up, and gathered your things and coat.
When you turned back to him, he was looking at you expectantly, you hesitated. You hesitated whether you should kiss him. He's still your boyfriend, and it's not the biggest fight in the world, so you went against every cell in your body that is so annoyed with him right now, leaned into him and gave him a brief peck on the lips.
It felt different, you knew the moment that you pulled away. It's blocked off, plain, just merely lips meeting— no smile after it like last night. You pushed the thought in the back of your mind and exited the cortex, you waved goodbye to Wells, and he waved back.
You sent Iris a text that you were coming, and she was ecstatic. And slightly tipsy.
You arrived at the bar. Hopefully, Iris isn't too drunk or has left. The cab ride price was ridiculous.
You stepped inside the bar, immediately welcomed by it's warm and bright ambience and the amount of large potted plants, and vines hanging off the wall was a refreshing sight. It's not so often you'll see that in a bar.
The stench of wood, bar food and alcohol filled your nostrils. It was loud and crowded; filled with conversation, laughters, and laughters, singing along at whatever the guy on stage was singing. Most of the people were still in their office attire, in their probably in their mid-20s to their late 30s.
You weaved through the crowd, looking around for Iris. You heard a shout, you didn't quite understand it, due to the noise, but you tried to make out of it as you heard it once more. Whipping your head around, you saw Iris by the bar, waving at you.
You walked to her with a smile on your face. She pulled you in, enveloping you into a tight, warm hug. You felt yourself sigh inwardly.
You didn't realize how much you needed it. The sense of comfort that you never had since your mom died. You crave it, but even if it's not as good as your mom's, it really hit the spot right now. Perhaps you were more upset than you thought.
You let go and both took a seat on the stool. You called the bartender and ordered yourself a beer.
She turned to you and asked, "How's your day?"
You exhaled sharply, while Iris looked at you expectantly. You had a hard time answering that. Well, to sum it up: Someone had died, there's crazy meta on the loose, and apparently he turns into a mist; Barry almost died, you have to build a makeshift prison; oh, and there are many things that you have to do, but you can't get your mind off your boyfriend and what he said. And yet, the last thing that you are is what you replied.
"Fine. You?"
"Fine," she replied.
You picked it up right off the bat that you were both lying, not only to each other, but to yourselves as well. After all of what's happening, you felt the need to.
"Cool. What's up?"
She shrugged with a little pout Joe does when he lies. "Nothing. Just wanna catch up,"
So you did. You talked about how work was the latest news in pop culture, whatever Barry was doing. You were two girls with secrets and if any of the topics touched relationships, romance or secrets in particular, you dodged it like how Barry dodges bullets.
The night went on. Hundred songs were sung by random people on the stage, and you start to feel the alcohol you start to kick off in your system. You two started talking about your childhood. About things you did, she did that pissed the hell out of Joe. There were a lot; you were a pain in the poor man's ass.
You faced Iris, head tilted on, as you placed it on the palm of your hand. Your head feels a little lightheaded, but you'll manage.
"Remember when Joe caught us drinking his beer?" You inquired.
A tipsy Iris broke into a grin, nodding. Oh she remembers it too well. "Yup. He was so mad. It was so funny." She giggled uncontrollably.
"Yeah, and we got grounded for a week," you retorted, taking a sip of your beer.
"Well, you helped us sneak it in the room!" She exclaimed, pointing a finger accusingly.
"Only because you said it tasted good!" You retorted.
"And you believed me," she smirked.
You rolled your eyes dramatically, taking a sip of your drink. In your defense, you were 14. Not that they were much older— a year, actually. But you do regret it. Because of being grounded, you missed a date with Logan Garrick, your long time crush. Guess you weren't really one for dates.
As the smiles on your faces faded slowly, the energy you two radiated simmered down. Your voices or stories weren't the only ones that matters; everyone, the noises, the place you forgot you were in started sinking into your senses.
You were both hiding from the truth and someone has to cut the chase, be forthcoming with it tonight or you're both going to go crazy.
It's not gonna be you. At least not yet. As much as you aren't fond of his choice, you just can't.
You might not know Iris like your brother does, but you knew her. You're not stupid. This grab a drink with little sis is just a façade. One of the façade you're both putting up, anyway.
"So, what's up— like really?" You asked.
"What?" Iris eyebrows knitted in faux confusion.
You gave her a sharp look. You're not sober enough to play along with her denial.
She snorted, brushing you off. You maintained your stern expression, she laughed at you for staring at her, testing how far she can push her luck and convince you. Her laughs trailed off and she stared at you for a moment to see if you're gravely serious. You were.
Realizing it. She sighed, defeated. She tore her eyes off you down to her drink.
"Is it Eddie?" You asked.
Her jaws tightened at the mention of his name.
"What happened?" You insisted.
Turmoil in relationships is not something that is easy to talk about, and it can be pretty overwhelming. You know it yourself, which is precisely why you know it's very important to get it off your chest. But you can't go on throwing out your problems without questions, so the closest thing to that is helping Iris.
"He showed at home while Dad was there," she started. You almost spat drink, looking at her with wide eyes, terrified. You worry that Joe may have found out and he did not take it well. "We got away with it, but..." she paused.
"But...?"
She exhaled. "But he said that keeping our relationship is killing our relationship,"
You stiffened. If that didn't hit you so hard. Your chest tightened, as you felt a pang of pain in your heart; you never thought you will relate to someone ever that it will hurt.
You inhaled sharply, struggling to keep it together as all the emotions are raging through you.
"Did you explain why you didn't want Joe to know?"
She nodded. "Yeah. I told him that Dad won't like it and he wouldn't support it, and he'd be very angry. He said he understands— but I know he doesn't, Y/N. I feel it. He isn't okay with it, and it bothers me so much, because it might threaten our relationship." Her eyes glistened with tears welling up in her eyes, under the light. Her voice was starting to strain. It shows how visibly upset she was with the issue, and it pains you so hard how you can easily understand and put yourself in their situation, because you are in the exact position.
"I don't know what to do. Do I keep it from Dad and jeopardize my relationship with Eddie, or jeopardize my relationship with my Dad by telling him about Eddie?"
She turned to you, confused and torn up; it was like a cry for comfort and advice.
You pressed your lips together tightly, as much as you try to keep at bay, the emotions surged, putting a crack on the dam of your tears. You swore to God that this day is a bitch. Barry should be here. He should be comforting the girl he's in love with, not you.
You were okay. You said you were okay. You were gonna get over it and you'll be fine, and now you're just questioning everything you thought you felt.
"You can't keep doing this to you or to him, Iris. You can't dictate who he's going to tell, because he's part of this relationship as much as you are. It must have felt so suffocating, and controlling, and he has to look at your Dad every single day, and it feels as though he's betraying him and—" you paused, realizing you were getting carried away. Your voice almost wavered if you hadn't stopped.
You realized two fundamental truths, and it hit like a freaking wrecking ball and Miley Cyrus was on it—one, Wells was avoiding the elephant in the room earlier. And so were you.
Two, you weren't talking about Eddie anymore. You were talking about yourself.
You felt the warm water pooling in your eyes. You know you have to take it down a notch or you'll burst. So you laughed, not that it helped.
"I guess my point is he's gonna explode, and you don't let it get to that," you told her, looking into her eyes, through her soul to prove your point.
"What am I gonna do then?"
You let out a breath, uncertain. If you knew, you would have a perfect love life right now. "I don't know. Talk to him, I guess. Work this out; compromise,"
Silence befell, the tension was intense and uneasy. You and Iris may never be bound by blood, but you're still sisters. And it became evident how you two have more similarities than being in a secret relationship, when you both turn your heads to side to hide your face. To wipe the tears that spilled and compose yourself.
After that, you both turned back, but still didn't speak. Iris seems to be thinking deeply, maybe considering your insights. While you were occupied with your own mind's thoughts.
"When did you become an expert to all this?" She joked.
You chuckled. "Since I dated Danny in College,"
She groaned upon hearing your college boyfriend's name. "Ugh. I remember that idiot."
He really was an idiot.
Debbie isn't your name, and you sure as hell ain't a downer either. You didn't come out to drink to cry about this. You weren't supposed to at all.
Tonight, you need to distract yourself from whatever you're feeling. Laying eyes on the karaoke, there was an instant ding in your head.
You looked at Iris. "You know what? Let's not think about this tonight. Let's have fun and we can worry about this tomorrow." You got off your stool and grabbed Iris' wrist.
Not having a chance to protest, you half-dragged her to the man in charge of the karaoke. You grabbed the song book and searched for a song. Iris did give you a weird look, obviously confused with sudden mood changes, but you shrugged it off.
That night, you sang, you drank, you laughed, and cheered so hard. You knew it was embarrassing, but you were desperate.
Each time you feel your eyes water, tears threatening to spill, or your heart aching, you distract yourself with another song or drink, or just pretend to pay attention to what's in front of you. You tried to make sure that your mind won't think.
Your emotions are off-limits tonight. You don't want to feel them tonight. Tomorrow, maybe, but tonight, you can't. It's just all too much to bear right now.
***
Damn. Almost cried when I writing this. Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if you share it and give it some love. Thanks!

Lipgloss
Steve Harrington x Hopper! Reader
Summary: the reader has always been steves cooler half but he notices that you start making little changes.
Warning: swearing, none, this is kinda wack it didn't come out the way I wanted it to
~~~~~
You where in fact your fathers daughter in every way possible, tough as nails, quick witted the whole nine yards. And everyone knew it.
The only issue was Steve Harrington, he was your best friend but lately it seemed like he was the only one who could make your cool deminor falter. And everyone seemed to notice it.
You watched Will attempt to follow your steps and skate down the street before turing to stared at Steve as he and dustin made the large order from the ice cream truck. He glanced back at you with a goofy smile making you chuckle.
"Y/n!" Your head snapped forward just in time to see will plow you down on your skate board. "Ah...shit..." You groaned.
"Are you guys alright!?" Steve asked running over to you with the rest of the kids. Dustin helped pull will up as steve helped you up. "Yea...yea I'm fine." You chuckled.
"Sorry kid." You ruffled Will's hair. "It's alright, I'm fine. I'm gonna go again." He said excitedly. Taking the skateboard from the ground and running back to the starting point with Mike and lucas by his side.
"You sure you're fine?" Steve asked again looking you over. "I'm...I'm fine harrington, are you fine?" You asked him nervously. "Yea, yea I think I'm ok." You nodded dusting your hands off on your shorts. "Good, good...oh uh hey wheres my choco Taco?" You asked attempting to save yourself from the conversation.
He looked back over to the Ice cream truck. The man inside was looking impatiently back as the diffrent ice cream bars sat on the counter.
"On it's way." He said jogging back over.
"What was that!?" Max asked coming up beside you with El at her side.
"What was what?" You asked walking to sit on the curb. "With steve! I've never seen you act like that!" Max laughed. You furrowed your brows. "I wasn't acting any way..." You trailed off when Even El gave you a look that said you where acting diffrent.
"C'mon You where totally starting at Steve! And then what was that conversation!?"
"Do you like steve?" El asked cutting in on Max.
You laughed. Both because hearing it outloud made it sound absurd but also out of nervousness.
"Do I..Do I like steve? Me? Liking Steve!?" Max crossed her arms. "I've seen you around boys...it usually ends up with them scared of you...not the other way around."
You opened your mouth but instantly closed it as steve came back over. "Ladies, one orange dreamcicle, A cotton candy swirl and a choco taco." He said handing the ice cream bar to you.
"Thank you kind sir." You winced as the words left your mouth, he laughed and sat next to you digging into his own Ice cream order.
Max and El chuckled at you as you struggled to act normal next to him. "Hey! Y/n?"
"Yea?" You croaked out. "Is it alright if I sleep over at your place tonight?"
You cleared your throat and took your eyes from steve to look at her. "Yea...of course." You smiled lightly.
You winced at the loud crash and steve yelling through the phone. "Sorry about that..." You laughed pouring another bag of candy into a bowl. "No need to apologize...boys will be boys right?"
You could hear him give a light hearted chuckle through the phine making your heart do a little jump in your chest. "How are the girls?" He asked. "Oh you know..doing girl things...painting nails, talking about boys...usual girl stuff."
"Ooh I wouldn't have happened to have been brought up in your boy talk would I?" He asked cheekily. Your face grew hot and you cleared your throat trying to keep cool.
"Why on earth would we talk about you?" You joked. "Ow I'm hurt."
You looked up hearing the girls squeel with joy from the room over. "Ok well sounds like the girls are having fun without me."
"Ok. Hey, I'll see you tomorrow afternoon after I get off of work."
"Of course, Night Harrington."
"Night." You hung up the phone and grabbed the tray of snacks.
"Ladies! Snacks are served!" You announced as you pushed El's bedroom door open. They both looked up from their magazines and ran over to it as you set it down.
"And then Later I picked up some movies from Family video-"
"We had a better Idea!" Max said. "What?" There was knock at the door that El quickly got up to answer as Max sat you down.
"Well me and El wanted to help you with your steve problem."
You shook your head. "I don't have a steve problem." Max rolled her eyes at you.
"Yea sure."
"I heard we where having a girls night, and you needed help with Harrington!" Robin said as she stepped into the bed room.
"Oh god...They got you two involved!?" You asked looking at Nancy and Robin.
Nancy shrugged. "I didn't have anything better to do..."
"Me neither." Robin added hoisting herself ontop of the dresser.
You looked between the four girls and fell back into the bed throwing a pillow over your face and groaning.
"I..i dunno about this guys..."
"We'll just start with small things...like lip gloss!" Max said As you sat infront of the four of them
"Yea! And then we can work up to the bigger stuff!" Nancy said taking the lip gloss from Max.
Their big idea was to give you a make over, 'round out your sharp edges' Nancy had said.
"C'mon guys don't you think Steve should like Y/n for y/n? And if he doesn't then maybe he's not the one for her?" Everyone looked at Robin.
"Actually...actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea." You spoke up. Robin held her hands out to you. "See!"
"C'mon just give this a try, then we can try Robins way." Nancy said holding your chin in her hand to apply the lipgloss. And El held up the mirror to you so you could see yourself.
You frowned slightly at yourself and looked at your glittery lips. "This is kinda stupid." You mumbled wiping it off. "It's not! We can even do your hair a little bit!" Nancy said trying to convince you to go through with it. Max flipped through a magazine and landed on a page.
"We should go with this! Subtle but with a pop!"
You all glanced at the page then at yourself through the mirror. "Have at me if you must."
Robin laughed at the sight eating a handful of popcorn. "You are very helpful." You said to her as El helped do your hair. "Stay still." El said from behind you.
"I just think, maybe you should let things work out on there own..." She said along with pointing at a shirt that Max held up from your closet.
"Ok, ok leave your hair like this tonight...and tomorrow morning take it out and it should look like that." Nancy said pointing to the magazine picture.
You bit your lip and nodded. Thinking about what Robin was saying.
"Ok do this." You followed max's lip motion after you put the lipgloss she had picked last night as you stood outside the mall.
"Ok, ok! You look good! Like yourself but...better."
"Thank you, really." You smiled sarcastically at her.
"You know what I meant!" El rounded the corner quickly. "He's coming!" She said grabbing your wrist and pulling you forward.
"Be yourself! Be flirty!" Max yelled as they basically flung you around the corner into steve.
"Oh hey!"
"Sorry! Hey!" You laughed, Nervously.
"Uh hey! Since you're here do you wanna go...get...food?"
He chuckled. "Yea..I was actually Going to ask you the same!" You nodded and started walking beside him back into the Mall,smiling to yourself.
"Where the hell is steve going!?" Dustin asked coming up beside Max and El.
"A date I think." Max said.
"He was supposed to take us to The arcade!"
You walked scilently beside steve but you could feel him glancing at you.
"What?" You finally asked looking up at him.
"What?"
"Well you keep looking at me so...you must wanna say something or is there something on my face?"
"No! No! Nothing on your face, but Are...are you wearing Lipgloss?" He asked looking closer at you.
You moved from his gaze brushing your fingers under your lips.
"What? N..no!" You laughed nervously.
"It is isn't it! Your wearing something girly!" He laughed. you scowled and punched his shoulder and rubbed the stuff from your lips.
"Ow! C'mon y/n i was kidding." He said rubbing his arm. "Why are you wearing that stuff anyways? You constantly say how much you hate it. "
"It was just a stupid Idea..." You muttered the response and quickly grabbed a seat in the food court.
"No, hey c'mon! It looked good..if thats what you want to start doing I'm not gonna stop you! I'm not saying it was bad just suprising." He said sliding into the seat across from you.
"And hey for what It's worth I think it looked pretty on you, but...but I think you look good no matter what!" He said trying to cheer you up.
"Really?"
It was Steves turn to be the akward one. "Uh..ye..yea..." You smiled turning to him.
"Thanks Harrington...I think you're pretty too." You said jokingly. "Shut up." He said laughing.
You sighed. "Ok...shit..Imma be honest with you...I was wearing it because Nancy and Max thought It would give me a better chance of getting with you...Robin said to just let things happen...I should've just listened to her. " You laughed.
"Yea...really she knew what she was talking about...cause I planned on asking you out this weekend." He said almost nonchalantly.
"You..you where?" He nodded watching you amused.
"I feel kinda stupid now.."
"No! It was kinda funny to watch you be the uncool one for a change."
"Whatever...when should I be ready?" You asked.
"For?"
"Our date. Or did you already forget?"
"Oh uh Saturday like seven-ish?"
You nodded. "Ok..I'll be there."
Rocket Queen
1.9: New Years Betrayal
Henley's P.O.V
It's been five days since Tommy left. He said he had to get straight back to Los Angeles to start recording their new album. I didn't believe that, but I let him leave anyway. I'm sure he wanted to party with the insane rockstars that he hangs with. I don't blame him, though. I'm sure hanging with them is more fun than hanging with three teenagers that only have booze.
Now I sit in the living room of the boys' apartment. Steven and Duff sits on either side of me, avidly arguing about who can play guitar better. I wince as Steven's voice goes at least four octaves higher. It was to the point where Bella started to whimper. I laugh at how when Steven argues, he starts to sound like a girl with how high he forces his voice to go. I look down at the pug in my lap. She starts to fall asleep once again in my lap.
I haven't really went home since our 'party' Christmas Day. I only went to get changes of clothes, even though Duff would rather me wear his clothes. I've managed to keep Duff sober for three days. It doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but he was goin' through a bottle a day. I just don't want him to get addicted. Drinking is fine. I can drink as much alcohol as the next guy. It gets to be a problem when the person is dependent on the feeling that alcohol gives you. I don't want that to happen to Duff. I love him too much.
Yes, I said it. I love Duff.
Over the five days I've stayed here, I finally realized it.
I haven't really been apart from Duff since I practically moved in. We've been attached at the hip. Even a few times, Duff sat on the toilet seat while I was in the shower just to keep me company. I've done the same for him multiple times. One time nearly gave me a heart attack, however.
I was just sitting on the toilet, talking about music as I always do, when I heard a bang inside of the shower. I hopped up and pulled back the shower curtain. Duff was sitting in there with tears running down his face. He looked like he was hyperventilating. I knew instantly that he was having a panic attack. I managed to get him calmed down, but not after I climbed into the tub and held him for what felt like hours. He was so embarrassed when he calmed down, but I didn't mind. I was so worried about him. I'm just glad I was able to calm him. Now I'm more on edge about it.
Panic attacks aren't like anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks are triggered by something specific that the person is thinking about. Panic attacks, however, are more spontaneous. They hit you even when you're in a good mood or have no reason to freak out.
That's why I have to pay closer attention to Duff now that I know about these attacks. I want to be there to help him at all times. I want to protect him all of the time.
Madeline still hasn't appeared. She didn't even call Steven. I guess she's really pissed. Stevie still has no idea. He's been torturing himself trying to figure it out. Eventually, I got him to calm down by watching some stupid movie I found. If I'm honest, I'm pretty pissed at Madeline for treating Steven like this. I'm sure he didn't mean whatever he said, and she knows it.
"Hey guys?" I say, interrupting their argument. They both instantly go quiet. Their attention is now solely on me. "I have to things to say." I hold up one finger. "One, what does it matter who plays the guitar better? Stevie, you're a drummer and Duffy, you're a bassist." I put up two fingers. "And two, would you guys want to go Sasha's tonight?"
"Why would we go to Sasha's?" Duff asks. "We've got everything we need here."
"We've been holed up in this apartment for days," I respond. "Don't you guys want to go out?"
"I'm in!" Steven says almost immediately.
I giggle. "I knew you would be." I turn to Duff. "What about you?"
"I'm in if you are, babe," Duff responds, kissing my temple.
I roll my eyes. "Of course I'm in. It was my idea."
Duff just laughs, standing up from the couch. He glances at the clock. "It's already nine."
"Let's go then!" Steven says happily, taking Bella from my lap and transferring her to the couch. He hauls me up, throwing me over his shoulder.
"Put me down, Stevie!"
"No! You're too pretty to walk!"
"That's supposed to be my line," Duff whines, following Steven out of the door.
"Too bad. You should've picked her up," Steven says, not letting me down despite my protests.
"I would like to be put down now!" I say, wiggling around. It was a failed attempt to get free. I hear Steven laugh at me. "Come on, Stevie! Put me down!"
"Not until we get to Sasha's," He responds.
I look up at Duff who's walking behind Steven. "Duff, please?"
Duff just laughs, leaning forward and kissing me on the lips. "Sorry, babe. I think this is pretty funny."
"Fuck you," I growl.
"I'm sure you will later," He winks.
This shuts me up. I feel my cheeks heat up with embarrassment. Duff just grins at me. He winks, then moves to walk next to Steven.
"Hey, I got a nice view of your ass up here," Duff laughs.
I swing my leg out and hear a satisfying "Ow!" from Duff. I grin evilly to myself as I wait to be put down. I love these two to death, but damn they can be pigs.
I sigh in relief as Steven finally puts me down. I smile as I see the familiar bar. It's been too long. I grab Duff's hand and guide him into the crowded bar. It seems that business is booming for Sasha. I grin as I see Sebastian and Colin both behind the bar. I watch Sasha rush back and forth between tables. Getting orders and giving drinks. I guess she's waitressing tonight.
She stops as she sees me. "Hey!"
I grin and hug her. "Sorry I haven't been 'round lately. It's been pretty hectic."
"Don't worry, darlin'! It's just good to have you and Madeline around again." Sasha's huge grin is contagious.
"Wait, me and Madeline?"
"Yeah! She's over at your usual table with some guy," She explains. I open my mouth to respond, but then someone calls her name. "Sorry, hun. We'll catch up later I promise!"
"Who could she be with?" Stevie asks, looking very put out.
I frown and walk over to our table. I feel my blood boil as I see Eva, Madeline, Jake, and Hyde at our table. The thing that really pisses me off, however, is the fact that she has her tongue down Hyde's throat.
"Madeline, what the fuck is wrong with you!" I yell, seeing Steven turn around and walk out of Sasha's the back way. I turn to Duff. "Go check on him. I'll be out in a minute."
"What do you mean?" Madeline asks, a cruel smile on her face.
"I mean, why would do this to Steven! He fucking loves you and you're doing this to him. He's heartbroken! I don't know about you, but I really don't want to see Stevie cry!" I yell at her.
I can tell that my words hit her hard, but she doesn't get a chance to speak. Hyde talks for her.
"A real man doesn't cry. He's obviously a pussy."
I don't think about what I'm doing. Before I know what's happening, I draw back my fist and punch Hyde square in the nose.
"Fuck you. Fuck all of you. Go rot in hell for all I care," I say, feeling my emotions take over.
I rush out the back way, my eyes searching for the boys. I spot them at the end of the alley and rush towards them. I can see Stevie crying. I don't say anything. I just pull him into my arms and hug him. He immediately hugs me back, happy to be in my arms.
"She doesn't deserve you."
Edie: because I want to Edie: and if the universe is pure random, chaotic chance Edie: then you have to follow the right strings Edie: or it goes wrong, like you said Liam: & this is right Liam: the only way I have Edie: is it? Edie: for you Liam: you're all that's left Liam: I can't do anything else Liam: if this doesn't work, nothing will Edie: then it's settled Liam: you're gonna love this 🏠 Edie: what's it like? Liam: not in that lesson any more, give me a sec Edie: 🤞 you've not given me an impossible task 😿 Liam: [does the maths even though we don't know when his bday is or what time of year it is rn but pretend we do] Edie: okay Edie: we'll have to get moving Edie: I'll put these condoms back Liam: give them to that lad, he don't need to be having any kids Edie: seriously Edie: his brother already has some he doesn't see, right Edie: gross Liam: I got some 💊 off him that didn't do fuck all Liam: waster in every way Edie: such a loser Liam: we're gonna have to be clean Edie: me at least, when it's cooking Liam: I'm not gonna keep going without you Edie: serious? Liam: you're willing to do anything for me, I can stop taking 💊 for you Edie: I love you Liam: hurry up, you have to see this place Edie: Okay, okay Edie: there's a lot of stuff this baby needs too Liam: I need you here Edie: then I'll run Liam: you can lie down as soon you've made it home Edie: I got us dinner Liam: gutted I don't have a real 💍 in my eye socket Edie: I'll have to use a ring pull Liam: it'll work for now Edie: were your parents married? Liam: nah, but she married my sister's dad Liam: she liked him better all round Edie: that makes sense Edie: same with mine and the others dad Edie: hence she went back to him Liam: dunno what your ma was thinking but in fairness to mine he was less of a twat for a while Edie: can't help who you love Edie: some people are unlucky with that too Liam: yeah Liam: & some people never get to be in love Edie: some people don't let themselves Liam: like we said earlier about not living Edie: yeah Edie: I guess it is scary but what's the alternative Liam: I used to properly feel things you know Edie: before your sister died Liam: if it was there before, it could be again Edie: definitely Edie: I know it Edie: we'll work it out Liam: you'll be happy here Liam: [a pic of the cute shit he's been doing in her absence trying to make this place nice for her] Edie: 🥺🥺 Edie: it says I'm nearly there Liam: I'll come out so I can carry you in 👰 Edie: you know I'd die to make you happy Liam: but that isn't what I want Liam: I'd prefer if you lived forever Edie: then I'll do that Edie: we can have hundreds of babies if that's what you need Edie: or do all the drugs in the world Edie: or go on the longest killing spree Liam: I think that'd take a huge toll on you physically, which I don't want either Liam: I'm not trying to ruin you Edie: you might make me actually cry Liam: stay beautiful, that's what I need Edie: Come get me Liam: [does] Edie: [lowkey laden down with all the essentials be careful boy] Liam: [literally take a sec to imagine them going from room to room planning their lives like adorable nerds] Edie: [this is all so bittersweet we're so mean] Liam: [I'm totally fine and not gonna sob] Edie: [I think if they made it look lived in, it'd make the squatters go away, so then it's just when the landlord/estate agent moment shows up eventually, but I think that would give them a bit of time to do it, even if it's like a week] Liam: [there's just something so pure about this, like it really reminds me how young and broken they are, casually playing pretend like little kids here] Edie: [mhmm, like because she's technically smart everyone expects her to be cynical and realistic but she can't be and is like genuinely if we try hard enough this will all work and be real] Liam: [just reminding me of my pure baby angel Carly in a way I did not expect to be hit by, excuse me] Edie: [when you're more like her and Billie is more like Ali don't mind me] Liam: [I don't know why I love that so much but I do] Edie: [just live your best lives huns, all the ridiculous things you've got for this home moment, also some kind of baby doll 'cos we didn't steal a real child] Liam: [we don't need either of you getting in that much trouble when the fams are gonna be annoyed as is, they should totally film something with it during this week because those hoes] Edie: [creepy, cryptic video in response to where you are like soz for scaring you all half to death it's just our brand] Liam: [and she should practice tattoo designs on it for him like do you like this one or nah] Edie: [definitely covered in biro] Liam: [put your treasure in it's eye socket] Edie: [there's so many sick designs tbh] Liam: [are we saying they still go to school or purely hole up] Edie: [probably hole up 'cos 1 why not but 2 at least you'd know they were together even if not where lol] Liam: [it adds to the vibe of their own little world so I'm here for it] Edie: [like truly why would you go to school, maybe when you're pregnant and we need to win people 'round lmao] Liam: [he wouldn't stalk Rio all week that means #proudofyouboy] Edie: [we're all thrilled] Liam: [actual progress for real because he's been doing it for years and he didn't force Edie to go to school so he could] Edie: [it truly is, when you're just having fun gah] Liam: [proud of you for living real life again boy, speaking of, we know the vibe but is there anything you wanna write down here as defs happening this week other than what we've said?] Edie: [hmm, so let's recap real quick and then we can add anything if we think of it, we've got homey things and he's made it cute and we're playing house so the squatters don't come and wreck it, which is so cute, we're planning our family and life like this is absolutely nbd, doing all the biro tattoos, making our ARG and making a weird/scary vid for the fam lollollol soz, just clearly getting to know each other intensely and bonding and cementing this plan] Liam: [do write some songs gal but I also think they should try whatever drugs they want to that they haven't before they get clean for this pregnancy moment because adds to the bonding that they don't even throw a party they just do it together] Edie: [i vibe that because it isn't about the party of it all, it's the feeling things, so it makes feelsy sense] Liam: [yeah I felt it, and it's so cute that they're doing all these domestic things while sometimes high af] Edie: [like you said, we don't need to be saints 'cos who is even when they have a child but it's very noble that you're like okay let's get it out of the way lol] Liam: [literally ruster are still living lavish and partying with their champagne and coke when they have theirs, tell me I'm wrong] Edie: [mhmm, y'all are very sweet actually it's pure] Liam: [neither of them seem like they would be so sweet and pure and that's why I stan it] Edie: [maybe they can do things they'll do when they have the bub like the park etc so like normal childhood things which he probably didn't get to do much] Liam: [boo how dare you, that's so cute] Edie: [like again, bittersweet but also childlike vibes again and he can enjoy it] Liam: [also I vote he gets on this roof and shouts about his feelings like he said he was gonna on the school roof] Edie: [a mood, and you can be a bit destructive inside, just got to keep it looking respectable so every loser in town doesn't crash your fun] Liam: [OMG but what if that's towards the end of the week and he says he loves her then because he has not like literally shout it from the rooftops but genuinely] Edie: [need that tbh 'cos as in this as she is and not turning back, she's obvs noticed he hasn't like she knows she's still out here trying to make him feel not like oh yes, I have succeeded lol] Liam: [it just is real like when you're pissing about at first but then the feels carry you along] Edie: [oh you two]
~
My weeks were usually uneventful, aside from the occasional accidents here and there. Like this morning for instance, when I didn't tie my shoelace tight enough. I accidentally tripped on it and fell down the stairs. Luckily, I was only three steps away from the ground, only ended up with a scraped knee. Jimin, of course, took care of my wound. I was late to class, but at least my knee wasn't burning, thanks to him. I hadn't realised just how much my guardian would be around me, now that I knew who he was. He gave himself full reins on my life. Sitting in the empty seats next to me in class, giving me the answers to tests, literally telling me where to walk because he was afraid I'd get hurt again. Maybe I was over exaggerating though, he wasn't with me 24/7, or at least he wasn't visible to me. But he was a little overbearing, about everything I did that could potentially harm me.
Not that I could blame him, my track record wasn't in my favor by the slightest. He let me be once he thought I was fine on my own, which was nice. I was grateful that he trusted me. The week came to an end sooner or later though, and my double date was getting closer. Jimin seemed to feel funny about the whole thing, sat on the edge of my bed as I did homework, asking me for details. “Where will you guys be going, anyway?” I could only shrug, I didn't know either. Rae had only stated that it would be a double date this Friday, and that was all the information she gave me.
“I wish I knew that too, but Rae didn't give me any specifics. Hopefully the guy isn't a douche.” I giggled to myself at the last part. “Are you sure you want to go out with some random dude you haven't met?” He questions me, and he successfully inserts doubt into my mind. It doesn't go unnoticed by me, however, the fact that he's trying to push me away from the whole thing. At least it would seem like it. “I mean, Rae knows him. Why? Do you not want me to go out?” I question his motive but he just shakes his head.
“It's not that, I just know you don't like socializing, much less dating. It just seemed odd to me that you gave in so easily. That's all.” He smiles, and I brush it off. His excuse was pretty valid. Even I was astonished at how surprisingly okay I was with this, even somewhat excited. Albeit, very little. He spent the rest of that night watching me study, helping me here and there before he disappeared. There was nights when I couldn't sleep and he'd stay with me, until I could. On nights like that one however, he'd disappear randomly, and I wouldn't see him until the next day.
Finally I was home, after a long day of work. Maybe the fact that work was stressing me, was the same reason why my excitement for tonight was growing slightly, and I gave in. Spending the remaining hours, before the double date, preparing for it. I tried my best to look presentable, yet casual. A simple pink knit sweater, that was torn at the bottom, making it barely reach past my belly button, that paired with a denim skirt and black sneakers. I hoped I wasn't underdressing myself, nor over dressing. I was just so nervous on what my first impression would be, and I wasn't sure why. Maybe the comfort Jimin had given me, was changing me.
Just as I thought of him, he chimed in out of seemingly nowhere. “Is that what you'll be wearing?” He asked, as I finished applying the last bit of makeup. “Yeah, is it too much? It's not enough, is it?” I questioned. My tone made me seem desperate though. I always disliked feeling desperate, which made me shake my head. “No, you look perfect.” He smiled at me, I was relieved as I looked myself over in the mirror.
“I just think it might be too revealing.” He spoke in a quitter voice, with a tone I couldn't figure out. I tilted my head slightly, in questioning. Too revealing? It's just my legs, but it's nothing bad, right? “Are you sure? It's just a skirt.” I asked him as I looked at my mirror, contemplating what to do. “I'm just saying, it's supposed to get cold later tonight. Are you sure you want to be wearing a skirt? I don't want you catching a cold.”
He might be right, I didn't want to get cold later. As much as I didn't want to go, I didn't want to not enjoy it because I was cold. Besides, I was slightly excited, I didn't want to ruin it for myself. “Should I wear jeans instead?” He was quick to nod his head at my suggestion. It was cute though, making me giggle as I went to grab a pair of jeans from my drawer. After successfully changing in my bathroom I walked back out. He wasn't in the room anymore, I figured he'd left and grabbed my purse. As if on cue, Rae called me. I didn't hesitate to answer her call. “I'm outside, are you ready!” She screeched full of excitement. How could she not be though? She'd had a crush on Henry for the longest time. Just another reason why I wanted to be on my best behavior tonight. I didn't want to jeopardize her chances with him. “I'll be right out.”
I was thankful that Rae had a car in this moment, because I wasn't sure how far our date would take place from my apartment. I was sure that walking wouldn't be ideal though. The only reason Rae had a car now, was because her parents finally took the next step and bought a new car. Resulting in Rae receiving their old one. “So, have you guys decided on what we'll be doing today?” I asked her as she drove down busy streets. The moon was high up in the sky, shining as bright as it could, but still overshadowed by all the street lights. “Yeah, we're going to the boardwalk. Ride a couple rides, play some games. It'll be fun, plus it'll be easy to get to know each other.” She happily cheered. She was always so bubbly, in contrast to me. I always wondered what made her befriend me, we're so different. Maybe opposites do attract.
“Well, it does sound exciting.” I looked out the window, looking at all the stores and cars passing by, all the people out shopping. The city was booming with activity right now, it was Friday night after all. Not too long after, we made it to the location. Just as I expected, there's a huge crowd of people. I guess the incident from last Friday night did have an effect on me, because I was worried that in this large crowd of college kids, that jerk would be too. I prayed that he wouldn’t and got out the car, sighing slightly. I guess my thoughts were obvious, because Rae questioned me. “Are you alright? You look a little pale.” She looks over my features as she walks closer to me. I can only smile at her, nodding. I was determined to make this night amazing for her, without having to worry about me. “Yeah, of course. I think I’m just a little nervous. I mean you never told me who my date will be, or what he’s like.” I try to act like that’s what’s bothering me, and nothing else. Not a complete lie though, I was curious as to who she paired me up with, what he was like. Which didn’t really matter because I wasn’t thinking of being in a relationship or anything, but a fun date couldn’t hurt, right?
“Oh, you’ll have so much fun together, I just know it!” She responds as she ushers me into the swarm of bodies that are running around, enjoying their night. “That doesn’t really help me, but okay?” I let her lead me to wherever, guessing she and the boys probably agreed on a specific spot to meet up. We quickly end up in front of a booth that look like it sold tickets and passes for the rides. Rae didn't bother to get in line, instead opting for cutting half of the line. “Um, Rae… What are you doing? Shouldn't we go get in line back there?” I question her, but quickly realise why she had done so. We ended up in front of two guys, laughing with each other. One was Henry, who didn't take long to notice us. “Hey! You guys made it.” He smiles at us as Rae smiles shyly, going in for a hug, which he reciprocates. Next to him is someone I haven't seen before, which wasn't unusual as I didn't socialize much. Aside from parties at least, which wouldn't help because the alcohol made everyone's faces blurry.
He stuck his hand out to me, smiling widely as he introduced himself. “I'm David, it's nice to meet you. Rae was boosting about you all week, it's nice to finally see why that is.” I blush slightly, a light giggle escaping my lips. Wasn't sure if it was because I found that funny, or if It was a nervous laugh. “Well, she hasn't mentioned you at all. So I'm excited to see what mysterious you hold.” I smile as we step closer to the booth, the line making progress. He laughs at my words, “I'm an open book, so you won't have any trouble. Trust me.” He smiles and I nod my head. I had to admit he was a very good looking guy. “I'm Y/n, by the way. So, do you go to school with us? Or?” I ask him, trying to make conversation, I just hoped that it wouldn't get awkward. I couldn't count the many times I made small talk with someone, and I somehow made it awkward. “Yeah, I'm studying law now. To be honest though,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck, “I wish I could pursue something else, but my father is a lawyer. He wanted me to be one as well.” He comments.
“I see, that's always hard. Have you tried talking to him about it?” I questioned him, and as I did I realised he most likely has, but it wasn't like I could retract my statement now. “Of course, but he's insistent. I just wish he could understand that it's just not for me.” His shoulders droop slightly, in defeat. We take a couple more steps. “No, I totally understand. We only have the one life, we should do what we like and be happy.” He smiles genuinely at me, his mouth opening to say something, but Rae interrupts us. “You guys, I’m getting a little hungry.” She pouts cutely, we all smile at her.
“We could eat something before going on the rides. Although, I don’t know how much of a good idea that is.” I contemplate my own suggestion, as I realise that eating before going on any roller coaster isn’t exactly ideal. It could lead to an unwanted accident. “We could eat something light, maybe a snack. You know, just to tame your hunger.” David chimes in. I agreed with him immediately. As we were all agreeing, the person in front of us had finished buying tickets, we walked up to the booth after they’d walked away. The girl behind the glass window spoke up. “What can I get for you?” Her tone was bored, it’s not that she was rude, but you could definitely tell she didn’t want to be here. I didn’t blame her, working Friday nights, in a ticket booth, watching others having fun wasn’t ideal.
As much as I hated myself for what I was about to do, I tried not to think about it too long and just did it. “How about you guys go and get something to eat for Rae, David and I will buy the tickets.” I say as I give Rae a little push. “Are you sure?” She asks but I just nod and turn back to the girl behind the window. I didn't want to be alone with David, but I also knew Rae probably wanted a little alone time with Henry, and I was determined to make this date the best for her. David and I decided on what free passes to buy, and walked away from the booth. The loud laughs of the people running around the boardwalk filled the night. “So how did you meet Rae?” I ask David as we walk around, looking for our friends.
“Oh, we were friends when we were younger. We use to live in the same town. I saw her on campus not to long ago and we started talking again.” He explained to me, I was glad in away. At least it meant she knew him pretty well. He wasn't just a complete stranger. “Oh, so you know her since she was a kid. Has she always been this bubbly?” He laughs at my question as he nods his head. It was a good thing, she's always been the bright person that she is today. “It's quite endearing, isn't it?” He wasn't wrong at all, it was the feeling I always got when she got excited about things, or acted like a schoolgirl fawning over Henry.
“So tell me about yourself, I mean Rae talked a lot about you, but it's not the same as hearing you say it.” He leads us further down the boardwalk, where I see Rae and Henry near a pretzel stand. “Well, what are you interested about?” I realise that I’m making myself sound mysterious in away, but I just genuinely don’t know what to say. Aside from Rae, I never really had to talk about myself. I mean I didn’t even with her, we just gradually figured each other out the more we spent time together. I thought that was the norm, but I guess not? “Anything, are you from here?” He asks. We’re getting closer to the other two, that Rae sees us and waves at us to hurry.
“No, not originally. I use to live two cities away from here, but I moved here on my own for school.” He nods taking in the information. “Just like Rae and I, I guess it’s not that uncommon for students to be out of town.” It really wasn’t, I was sure around half of students were out of town. It was just such a common thing. We finally reached our friends, Rae handing me a pretzel. “That’s for you,” She says, in a sing song voice. “and this one's for you.” She hands David another. I take a bite of it as we walk away from the stand. Out of nowhere Rae starts jumping excitedly and we all laugh at her antics. “Oh my god! Look!” She points at a carnival game, the cliche knock down the bottles and you win a prize ones. She was usually really good at these games, but I figured that she’d want the typical date experience where the guy wins the prize for the girl.
“Hey, why don’t you go win her a prize?” I suggest to Henry, trying to set in motion my plan. He looks like he wants to respond, but David picks up on my intentions and pushes him forward. “Come on, win the pretty lady a prize.” Henry gives in and pays for a game. I was starting to notice how nervous he was, they were comfortable with each other, and he was confident. Even so, he would do slight things that made it apparent that he wanted to impress Rae. Which of course, I was happy about, because that could only mean he liked her as well. “Do you want to come up to the ferris wheel with me?” David seemed like a nice guy, from the small sentences we interchanged, but I was here for Rae and to have a good time. I feared that spending too much alone time with him would make ideas in his head.
“I… I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I stuttered out, rubbing my arm awkwardly. “Why? Are you afraid of heights?” He asked, I could tell by the tone of his voice he really wanted us to go. “No… I just…” My voice caught in my throat, as a new thought came to mind.
It’ll be fun, he’s cute. I couldn’t help but agree with myself, but I was still silent. Not sure if to say yes to him. The thought brought along an unpleasant and odd aura. A sudden emptiness left inside me, but I was totally fine with the vacancy within me. It was as if I could become addicted.
I’m so lonely, he’d be perfect. Everything I need. My lips turned into a smile on their own. It’s time to live my life, and he’s the one to do it with. My voice rushed out of my mouth, “On second thought, this should be fun!” I hooked my arm around his and pulled him along, yelling over to Rae that we’d be back as I ran off. David laughing beside me as his steps picked up. I couldn’t argue with myself, even if I wanted to. I just went along with my instinct. Thankfully the line wasn’t long. Barely anyone was waiting, we were up and in the ferris wheel in no time. David helped me sit down, and in my head I marked down a point for his chervillry acts. When he sat down, I noticed he tried his best to give me space. Something if never Do was my next move. I brushed my hand over his, leaving some fingers lingering over his.
His slight smile was evident. The pink hue in his cheeks forming was utterly cute to me now, the wind pushing his hair back as he looked to the side. “I know we just met, but you seem super nice and I’d like to spend more time with you.” He scots closer to me, my head leaning on his shoulder. “That would be nice, you and I.” I say in a dreamy voice. A familiar scent came to me in that instant. Vanilla and roses mixed with lavender. Such an amazing scent, one I could lose myself in. It was utterly familiar but I couldn’t place from where, not in this instant at least. “What made you change your mind, back there I mean. When I asked you to come up here.” I shrugged slightly. Even I wasn’t sure what that was, all I know is that I did and we were here now.
“You seem like a nice guy that I’d like to spend time with.” I didn’t want to let him down, and it was a complete lie. I hooked my arm around his again, sliding closer. “Maybe we can make that happen.” He suggested and I nodded my head In content. We spent the rest of the time in peaceful silence. Until the ride stopped, our cart at the very top. “Wow, look at all those light.” I pointed out at the city, everything looked so small from here. He laughed at me slightly, “The view is amazing, isn’t it?” He looked out as well. Our eyes opened wide suddenly as we felt the ferris wheel shake. My heart started to palpitate quickly, as a more violent shake was felt. My breath hitching in my throat.
“Are you okay?” David asked, as he kept his arm in front of me, gripping the metal handle next to me. “Yeah, I’m fine.” I told him, as I dared to look forward, to see what was happening down there. The all too familiar feeling came to me. Only accomplishing for me to look like crazy all over for Jimin. However, I couldn't find him anywhere in the crowd of onlookers on the ground. “Be careful, you’ll fall.” David said protectively, and as he did Jimin’s presence became much more unbearable.
“Where are you?” I whispered to myself, gaining a strange look from David. “What was that?” He asks, confused making me shake my head. “Nothing, I just don’t understand what went wrong down there.” My sentence barely making it out as the ferris wheel rushes to rotate. A scream escapes my lips, my body slamming against David’s, which I was quick to hold on to for dear life, wishing it was Jimin instead. But he wasn’t making himself visible to me.
I’ve got you. Jimin’s voice filled my ears as the ferris wheel came to a halt and started to slowly move. My breath was irrational but I was trying to stabilize it. Finally, our cart reached the bottom and it all stopped as we did. I didn’t even wait for the man to open the gate on our cart, I unbuckled myself and opened the gate, running out. I didn’t even stop to wait for David, rushing to where Jimin was in the crowd. I wasn’t even sure how I knew where to find him, probably our connection. Either way, I crashed into him, hugging him with all the strength that I still had in my body. A stream of tears falling down my eyes.
Bea: Oh yeah, let's make it a competition, that'll be fun Bea: it's just their job, not like you have ever listened so you don't have to start now Bea: I'm fine with going back, obviously Fraze: Comparisons are getting drawn like it or not, always have been Fraze: Same goes for judgements Bea: Not between family Bea: there's no need for that Fraze: Don't be naive, especially between family Fraze: Joe'll score points just for turning up, Tommo'll get a few more for making it to 18 without knocking anyone up Bea: Don't be a baby Bea: or expect me to apologize or feel bad for you that you won't be getting a pat on the back this year Fraze: I don't Fraze: But don't expect me to go along with your pretence of not giving a fuck what they think Fraze: I know you do Bea: I don't Fraze: You ain't gonna get the points awarded for keeping hold of me, those are all Ali's for that lad not doing whatever immediate runner my Ma reckoned on Bea: I literally just said I don't care Bea: do you think I have time for point scoring Fraze: And I just said I know you do Fraze: What else is there to go back for? Stay here if you don't give a shit Bea: You wanna stay here because you do Bea: so how does that make any sense Fraze: I give more of a shit about us, what doesn't make sense about that? 'Cause it sounded like you were really angling for that Bea: I'm angling for you to grow a pair, actually Fraze: Doing what I'm told by you ain't what grow a pair means Bea: No but facing your mother is Fraze: Sitting down to Christmas dinner and playing nice ain't even close Bea: and staying here doing fuck all about it really proves our point Fraze: What do you want me to do, beg her forgiveness? I ain't sorry for any of it and I ain't gonna be just 'cause she is Bea: Then show up for your family and show her as much Fraze: Jesus, I'd hate you if I didn't love you so fucking much Bea: You better Fraze: Marry me, I'll prove it Bea: Shut up Fraze: Say yes and shut me up Bea: You're so stupid Fraze: I'm not that stupid Bea: I've not got the energy to debate Bea: already told you Fraze: Then don't Fraze: I'm telling you I ain't, take me at my word Bea: I'm not that stupid Bea: I don't take anyone at their word, don't take it personal Fraze: You're not stupid but you are funny Bea: Hilarious Bea: shame I can't say the same for you really Fraze: Stop holding onto it, Red, it's been years since I played class clown Bea: Yeah right Fraze: Yeah right Bea: not that long since you were still in uni Fraze: I weren't in the laughing mood then, was I? Bea: Well, who was Fraze: Every other fucker on my course basically Fraze: Nobody who matters Bea: I'm not sorry Fraze: Nor me Bea: Sure about that? Fraze: Meaning what? Bea: Meaning if you wanna go back and have the time of your life then go right ahead Fraze: If I went back I wouldn't have the time of my life just like I didn't the first time Bea: Alright Fraze: Is it? If you wanna have a dig at me for jacking it in now's the time, like Bea: That's not what this is Fraze: It can be, if you want Fraze: I'm making it easy enough for you Bea: That's easy for you Fraze: What? Bea: Easy for you to think I'm being a cunt about not finishing uni when I'm saying the opposite Bea: if that's what YOU actually want, then go ahead and do it Bea: I'm not going to be the one to decide for you either way Fraze: I was what I wanted so I did it, end of Fraze: It ain't your decision and I weren't asking you to make it Bea: So as I said, alright Fraze: Yeah Fraze: And like I said, you still get to have an opinion regardless Bea: What, like I'm bothered? Bea: it's not the be-all-end-all Bea: you still have a plan Fraze: 'Course I do Fraze: I'm not a fucking amateur, or as much of an idiot as you like to reckon Bea: I don't reckon anything of the sort, moron Bea: I'm saying I know Fraze: Obviously, you know whatever's worth knowing, always have done Bea: Too right Fraze: So if you wanna go, we'll go Bea: We're going Bea: it wasn't ever up for discussion but glad to have you on board Fraze: You do make me laugh, babe Bea: Hilarious, I remember Fraze: Good, don't forget Fraze: You're gonna need that sense of humour when we get there Bea: You're so dramatic, honestly Fraze: You're so in love with me, take a deep breath, honestly Bea: Yeah, you're 2 months too late to tell me to breathe, dickhead Fraze: Well, they were 3 months too early for me to need to Bea: You could've, I wouldn't have heard you to be pissed off Fraze: Now you tell me, cheers Bea: Some of us were a little busy at the time Fraze: Don't worry, next time I'll properly take the chance to say whatever I like Bea: Were you even there or? Bea: what next time Fraze: I'm just saying, we once said there wasn't gonna be any time Fraze: Didn't stick to that, did we? Bea: 1. It was an accident Bea: 2. Once is enough thanks Fraze: I'm not trying to argue otherwise, like Fraze: I was there Bea: You literally were, oh my God Fraze: Yeah, reckon I said that a fair few times myself there and then Fraze: Not that God showed up Bea: Don't imagine he's any good with a scalpel anyway Fraze: Not good at fuck all but voyeurism by all accounts Bea: and plagues, give him credit Fraze: Yeah, those locusts really boss, like Bea: Exactly Fraze: You gonna support me if I go study religion then? Bea: I will Bea: but your dad? no way, like Fraze: Fuck him, never gonna be his fave anyway Fraze: Gotta be born a girl for that Bea: Poor baby Fraze: Not for long, Red, stick around for the riches Bea: Where do you think I'm going? Fraze: Anywhere you want Bea: My question still stands then Fraze: I've told you loads of times before, the world is ours, babe Fraze: and now there's 2 more of us Fraze: The only question is what do you want Bea: You Bea: Us Bea: that's all I want right now Fraze: I see that and raise you no more holidays that are in a fucking caravan Fraze: Winter ain't gonna last forever and just 'cause I let you talk me into going back there for Christmas, don't think I'm agreeing to that bullshit Bea: I don't think anyone is going to even suggest we can all fit into a caravan anymore Fraze: Do you wanna make that bet though? Fraze: If my kids never see the inside of a caravan I'll go to my grave less begrudgingly Bea: You're such a snob, babe Fraze: They're having the best of everything, no less, whatever it takes Fraze: And that ain't even close, simple as Bea: Don't need to tell me like I don't know the score Fraze: I'm just saying, my Ma can make all the comparisons she wants, we're not them and it's not gonna be like that Bea: It's different for you than it is me Fraze: I know Bea: But it'll be good different for them, that we can agree on Fraze: 'Course Bea: I'll start packing then Fraze: I'll be back to give you a hand soon Bea: Not that hard Bea: get used to having a massive bag full of nappies and bottles and spare clothes on you at all times Fraze: Maybe not the suitcases but the babies we can't just shove in there and zip up, slightly more work, like Fraze: Have you already wrapped everyone's shit or should I just throw it in a gift bag? Bea: They aren't getting their own seats so you will have to hold one of 'em, yeah Bea: and you really think I didn't get it all posted there Bea: not an amateur Fraze: Alright but if you didn't get Joe an even itchier jumper than last year I'm reconsidering this whole marriage thing Bea: Thanks for the tip Bea: I'll have to reconsider my gift, obviously Fraze: Shut up Fraze: Me too now I'm sending the ring back Bea: Ha ha Fraze: You can laugh the personalised engraving has fucked my refund chances right up Bea: Well that was your first mistake Bea: can't reuse it on another girl either Bea: rookie Fraze: Write me a list when you can find the time, babe Bea: Easy Fraze: Good Bea: You know you have to be nice to your sister when we're there Fraze: Do I fuck Fraze: You be nice to yours Bea: My sister didn't have a baby a few weeks ago Fraze: So what? Fraze: You'd kill her if she fucking did Bea: So what is she doesn't need drama from you right now Fraze: She ain't getting drama from me but she ain't getting a round of applause either Bea: I'm not saying you have to go that far am I Bea: just don't start either Fraze: You're saying keep my mouth shut but I'm saying why the fuck should I? Fraze: A supposedly high IQ and a boyfriend who supposedly ain't an utter waste of space don't change the fact she's still a kid Bea: Because what do you think it will achieve? Bea: Literally nothing Bea: you'll only make it worse, if anything, so save your breath Fraze: Instead you want me to sit back and do literally nothing Bea: Whatever, be the big brother you want to be Bea: I'm not getting involved Fraze: This is why we shouldn't go Fraze: It's bullshit Bea: What do you propose, you never see her again because it makes you feel weird Bea: Get real Fraze: Yeah 'cause what you're proposing is so much better Fraze: We all just pretend everything is fucking fine when it isn't Bea: You can't do anything about it Bea: it's her life to fuck up however she pleases, she weren't going to ask for your permission at any point, like Fraze: I can't do anything about any of 'em that's the whole point Bea: Yeah Bea: that's always been the case and always will be Fraze: Exactly Fraze: Why would I wanna sit there and act like I don't know that? Bea: 'cos that's life Bea: it's the same for everybody else Fraze: I hope one of 'em somewhere is having a convo about what a fuck up I am Fraze: God, if you're listening, like, come on Bea: Really? Fraze: Don't let me down, Ma Fraze: 'Cause if they think this is as good as everything gets and everything really is fine for this family then fucking hell Bea: This is news? Bea: Mediocrity is aspirational to most people Bea: if everyone was the best it'd be meaningless and we'd have nothing to do in the meantime Fraze: Cheers, babe Fraze: I wouldn't want anyone else in my corner Bea: Don't be disingenuous when you really mean it Fraze: I don't talk like you swallowed a dictionary at me when I'm declaring my love Bea: That's what that was? Bea: You should work on that Fraze: I won't put it exactly like that in the vows Fraze: You saved me, you know, that's how I know it's something that can happen Fraze: I don't wanna just leave 'em to it but I can't do the same for 'em either Bea: I know Bea: it's a fool's errand Bea: but a noble one Fraze: I hate feeling like such a stupid cunt Bea: I know that too Bea: kinda signed up for a lifetime of it though Bea: not saying I'm so smart, before you suggest Fraze: I'll say it for you Fraze: 'Cause you are Bea: Hmm Bea: thanks Fraze: It don't even feel like a compliment anymore 'cause it's just been like that, something I've known, since the first time I met you Bea: Don't be soppy Bea: I'm meant to be the hormonal one, you'll set me off Fraze: You want me to be nice to everyone but you? Fuck that Bea: 'Course not Bea: we're a team Fraze: We better be 'cause they want us to stay til after New Year's Bea: We always have been Fraze: Yeah Fraze: I ain't forgotten Bea: Should hope not Fraze: I'm so knackered I feel braindead right now but I reckon it's actually semi functioning Fraze: Take that kids Bea: That's something Bea: need all the funds we can get now Fraze: How are you? Bea: Now he asks Bea: fine, of course Bea: he's being grizzly but nothing I can't handle Fraze: Put up with me long enough, yeah? I know you wanna say it Bea: Now you mention it, like Fraze: Do you need me to grab anything on the way back? Bea: something to eat if you're planning on it tonight Fraze: Don't tell either of 'em it's part of the plan, like Fraze: Might get a second then Bea: You reckon they've already got malicious intent Fraze: I ain't ruling it out Bea: They are yours, after-all Fraze: They better be Bea: As if Fraze: Too early to tell if they look like me Bea: Do you want me on your side or not Bea: think on Fraze: I ain't surviving Christmas if you ain't Fraze: So depends if you want me to or not Bea: That depends if you wanna keep implying things Fraze: Come on Bea: You Fraze: If I reckoned there was any truth to it we wouldn't be having this conversation Fraze: You know that as well as I do Bea: Not very supportive Bea: but fair Fraze: I love you but I've got my limits, babe and I don't reckon they stretch to doing night feeds for kids that ain't mine Bea: Always good to know Fraze: Keep it in mind, yeah Bea: Back at you Fraze: Fuck that, I need your genetics to balance out mine Fraze: Especially now the model missus of my childhood dreams ain't gonna happen Fraze: No wildcards, cheers Bea: Please, don't let me stop you Fraze: Shut up Bea: Go on Bea: I said no Bea: practically a free agent Fraze: I'd rather you said no every time than some girl I don't want saying yeah Bea: Cute Fraze: Don't take the piss Bea: Me? Never Bea: You're just so adorable, babe Fraze: Tis the season for you to have a day off it, like Bea: Don't make me repeat myself Fraze: Why not?
