do you guys ever have a character where like, it's not that you don't like them as a character you just like them haunting the narrative more than you actually like them in the narrative?
#this skirts close to being a negativity ban violation iykyk so i'm not going to say who i'm thinking of#and i'm also aware that that's probably something a lot of people would say about one of my faves#but i've long made my peace with fandom regarding the latter#and the thing about the former is like...they seem fine but they're so much better as a specter over everyone's heads imo#anyway if you're ever reading my fics and are like 'that's weird she's always writing that live character like a ghost'#they just work better as a ghost live characters can be ghosts to. you can be haunted by a living person just as much as a dead one#also re: the latter i actually also like writing about them haunting the narrative post-mortem#it's just that i think a lot of the current fandom *only* likes them like that and i'm like but both is good#but i totally get it because for the former every time i try to consider them as an active participant in the story i'm like hm. no#dead to me but in a weirdly neutral way. like they're meant to be dead.#this is a weird set of tags#anyway if you've read all this i'll cop to the IDs if you can guess#but i don't think anyone will be able to guess
