there are many many things i like about the f1 fandom and the simi vs brocedes poll has reminded me a lot of it. and i think you don't realise how nice the f1 fandom is until you leave it for the bridgerton fandom

in the bridgerton fandom you have people getting on their high horse to hate rpf, when any big rpf fandom imo knows what they're on about and what lines not to cross (there is the other kind of rpf shipping where people bother the people in question and imo... no.)

what i also like about the f1 fandom is that there aren't any canon ships. and i can openly say i dislike a driver/pairing WITHOUT PEOPLE SENDING HATE

i can write anything (fics) without people sending hate and saying you should write it like this/what you've written is unacceptable (i haven't had this happen to me thankfully but i've seen it on some fics in the past 💀)

there are a few people being like 'wtf!!' over the result of the simi vs brocedes poll but if i tried that with a bridgerton poll i'd get hate

so yeah. f1 does have its problems but it's a LOT nicer than fictional fandoms, or at least bridgerton. like, we can't whine that we want to see more of some specific content because we know we have no right to, so we just enjoy what we get.

(actually i think you can stay away from f1 drama if you stay out of tracked tag and just follow some good people)
