You know, I don't know if this is anything. But I just keep thinking about this topic, so here's some of my rambling. Here ya go.

I feel like there's a conversation to be had by people much smarter and more widely-read than me about how genre media (I'm referencing a movie here but it could be anything ofc), when it's made by someone who REALLY writes/creates it well, is so nuanced and full of heart that it appeals to everyone who watches it, even if they don't like that genre at all.

Lemme go ahead and give an example here, bc god knows I don't understand concepts™ until I read through examples of them.

I recently watched Train to Busan, because I'd heard it was very good. Now, I happened to know beforehand that it was a zombie thriller, and I have a well-known HATRED (read: fear) of any and all zombie media. I won't watch TWD, I won't read the comics, I won't read zombie-thriller books or watch any Zombie movies or anything. The MOST I'm willing to consume is watching my favorite gamer YouTubers play Resident Evil, and that's literally only because I like their channels. 🤡

So I heard about this movie a whiiiiiiile back, but for years and years I simply refused to watch it because I just can't stand how scary zombie shit is to me.

(I feel like at this point I should say that it's okay to make fun of me for this, I honestly don't care, hell I make fun of myself for it lmaooo.)

And then I watched it, and...... I loved it. It had so much tension and heart and depth and tragedy and love and I bawled my stupid little heart out. It was just as I'd heard it was: a very good movie. That happened to have zombies in it.

I just didn't expect to love it so much. I was just so warmly surprised that this movie essentially took the "oh fuck, zombies" element of a literal zombie thriller movie and made that almost... take the backseat? I'm not sure how to phrase that, but hopefully it sounds right.

Maybe that's too simplifying a conclusion. Like I say, I'm sure there's a lot more to say on this movie, and this topic, by people much more thoughtful about Media™ than me. I just needed to get this out.

Anyway, that was it, ramble over. Watch Train to Busan. It's good.

Draco : *pushing Neville* look I don't care about messing with you right now just cooperate *pushes neville down beside fourth year Mylee*

Mylee : MALFOY GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE *runs after Draco* *gets pulled down looks up*

Harry : *keeps hand around mylee's scarf* stay *walks away*

Draco : *yells* STAY SEATED SMOL BEAN

Mylee : *stands and begins to run but is stopped* OH COMEON WHAT IS IT WITH THESE RETARDED BOYS STOPPING MY FROM KILLING MALFOY *turns*

Neville : could you explain what's going on ? Please ?

Mylee : *sigh* well umm have you heard of the Hogwarts Otp board and perfect couple board ?

Neville : *nods*

Mylee : well I'm in charge of updating it but don't get to choose who goes where and *rants and rambles*

Iva (my oc) : *runs up and slaps Mylee across the face* BLOODY HELL MAN GET ON WITH IT

Mylee : *mumbles incoherently*

Iva : *slaps Mylee again*

Mylee : Well damn then Eve

Iva : smiles and joins hoarde of people watching the two

Mylee : we're at the top of the list as Nelee

Neville : *faints*
