What I'm absorbing from NHK playing on the TV on the other side of the room: ...and they clean these statues of the bodhisattva Jeezo, a protector of children, and one who tries to alleviate the suffering of people by taking it in himself.

Me, culturally Christian, lying in agony and unable to move closer/look at the screen to get a better handle on what's being shown: ...you've got to be kidding me. You're making this up.

#pain finally waned enough i could find my phone and try to find out how much was real and how much i was mishearing and too sick to reparse #and also make this post #anyway i did hear right the bodhisattva they were talking about IS named 'Jizō'#less sure about the suffering bit. apparently did make an important vow about wanting to alleviate the suffering of everyone #but idk if the program actually worded as taking on people's suffering or if i just didn't hear it right #anyway. important figure in zen buddhism. no relation to jeezy boy #platextsofmemories
