you know what really annoys me about some tlou (mostly let’s be real tlou2) fans? their steadfast black-and-white perception of Joel and the ending of the first game. like the idea that Joel is the bad guy and the Fireflies were the good guys and they were going to save the world if it wasn’t for that meddlin’ Texan. and yes, they potentially could have created a cure or vaccine, I won’t argue with that, but they also might not have and honestly it’s kind of naïve to say, with your whole chest, that the Fireflies would have 100% saved humanity. like, do you think that factions like the Hunters or the Seraphites would’ve lined up to get the cure or vaccine? do you think factions like FEDRA or the WLF would’ve been fine with the Fireflies having this miracle and not tried to grab hold of it through any means necessary? it’s so wild to see people even now be like “Joel was the bad guy. The Fireflies were going to save the world”. they absolutely were not, at least not without a lot of causalities. there would be so much power attached to having a cure or vaccine. it would’ve been chaos once news of it spread. and honestly if they make a part 3, maybe they should explore the concept of absolute powers corrupts absolutely because that would fun.
