These are panels that make me start shipping Meronia. The way Near hold Mello finger puppet in this scene look like he was talking to Mello in vain, and he wasn’t able to speak it fluently. It’s clear enough for the SPK member to notice, they surprised by the fact that a person who never stumble in the middle of a speech now seemed to be at a loss of words, had to repeat the phrase “counld’t surprass me...” while trying to continue what he was saying, but eventually left the sentence unfinished.

Near knows well how hard Mello want to win, so he tried to say it out because he want to let Mello know all the effort Mello put in wasn’t a waste. This is the only time Near was unable to hold back his desperate feeling for Mello, as his emotion here are so strong that Near couldn’t finish what he was saying.

It lasted for a really short momment, but it hurt me so much.
