𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐕. One of the things that caught my attention about Dain is that Capitano, who was no less than a/the Commander in Khaenri'ah, never met him and only knew of him by name alone. It does make me consider seriously that in the likeness of the Five Sinners, Dain was also among them as this individual who carried the hopes and dreams of the Khaenri'ahns, thus making him somehow of a legend among the citizens. Otherwise it'd be hard to decipher why Capitano never met him, even though it's known that his role in Khaenri'ah was high enough to know Lumine as the Princess and even know her in a somewhat more personal level.
I'm also curious about whether Khaenri'ah had more different factions in the army or not. At least during the Crimson Moon Dynasty, there was a unit specialized in using rifthounds in battle before the dynasty fell and the use of abyssal monsters fell in disuse, substituting them for automatons instead during the Eclipse/Blacksun Dynasty. And we do know that they had the Black Serpent Knights as the royal guard, and then separately the Schwanenritter, who were also knights on duty of espionage and automaton-related matters in Sumerian grounds. I'm tempted to think that Capitano was the Commander of another faction of the military (maybe the one that isn't exclusive to royalty?), otherwise it's even more unbelievable that both were in high positions within one same military faction —Black Serpent Knights— and never once met before in person.
Another thing that caught my attention is that, for all the hatred and pain he has in regards of the Abyss (going as far as to say that he would go back in time to reject the false hope, which I firmly believe to be the Abyss as retold by Chlothar in 「Caribert」), he didn't seem to have bad words towards Dain. In fact, it feels like he understands his pain and hatred to the point where he even considers Dain's to far exceed his own. The point I want to address with this is that, once again, Lumine's perception of Dain in regards of saving Khaenri'ah or not seems to be heavily distorted, as seeing the way Capitano navigates through everything related to the Abyss, it wouldn't be surprising if he had contempt for Dain if he didn't at least try to do something, only to be powerless.
#◟༺✧༻◞ events to be remembered in blue veins ┊addendum.┊#don't look at me#I just can't help but marvel at these details#the possibility of Dain being like a legend in K.haenri'ah#and yet be so approachable with H.alfdan#it's kind of contradicting in a way#but I like that for him#that despite being held in that regard#he was so kind and mindful with others#I'm also curious to know if C.apitano escaped from K.haenri'ah#before or during the raid the gods did to the kingdom#I'm tempted to think that it happened before#mainly due to his openness with gods#but who knows#I also have questions about L.umine#and why she didn't leave say with P.ierro#since they were actually living together#or with C.apitano himself since they did know one another#it makes me wonder what kind of relationship#Dain and L.umine had before#although I'd say that at the very least#it was one of compassion#because Dain described it as both of them looking for their destiny#as if it's the only thing they'd have left#if they did have one to begin with#anyway don't mind my part 2 rant in the tags lol#I do enjoy this and liked it very much for Dain as well#hopefully we'll learn more about C.apitano too#since that ending of the second AQ was such a cliffhanger tf
