Phoebe wasn't sure if it was her intuition as a witch, her past with Cole, or the restoration of her premonitions, but nowhere was safe. Every room of the Manor, any excursion outside, any trip to the Underworld, she could sense Kyra's presence like a moth to a flame.

An undeniable draw to something she knew would lead to ruination.

The worst part was that the knowledge that she was willfully walking into her own destruction, that she was risking herself and her sisters again for a demon. And maybe she could maintain enough self-flagellation to avoid falling in love with a demon if it was just that Kyra was beautiful.

The way that Phoebe wanted to bury her hands in those dark curls. How dark sheer purple fabric did nothing to hide her curves, but highlighted a form that Phoebe, despite previously taking on the mantle herself, could only compare to the goddess Aphrodite. The quirk of her lips as she said something cutting or sarcastic. But the thing that always caught and held Phoebe's attention was Kyra's eyes. The way that the brown was so dark it was almost black some days. The way that they were filled with wonder and enjoyment at the most mundane of humanity.

Maybe she could have avoided it if it was just that Kyra understood her power in a way that no one else ever had. The way that Kyra never seemed caught off guard by anything, a knowing look in her eyes. How she could control her power better than even Phoebe, a Charmed One who had her powers for seven years, still couldn't. The painful curiosity she still had whenever she saw Piper or Paige or even Phoebe do something unashamedly human. But Kyra didn't just master her power, but shared it: offering her hands to Phoebe like she held knowledge itself in her palms. If Phoebe was stronger, she wouldn't have taken them. Each time, however, she could never resist the impulse and felt lightning hit each time she had Kyra's palms pressed against her own, visions she so sorely wanted to see flickering across closed eyes.

Phoebe fought it in a way that she never had before. In nearly every other relationship she had prior, she'd thrown herself into it with reckless abandon, confident in love's power. And then Cole manipulated and tricked her before dying at her own hand. Jason fled when he learned who she really was. Leslie was unable to tolerate her secrets before she could truly let him in. And Phoebe could withstand a lot; she was called to love in a fundamental way, but even she had a limit.

Still, as she accompanied Kyra through the Underworld, mortal world, and even eventually the Heavens, she couldn't could help but fall deeper and deeper for her, fighting the feelings every step of the way. Even as Kyra gave up her last bit of leverage, the last tidbit of knowledge she'd hidden away during her years in the Underworld, Phoebe tried to stay detached from the beautiful seer, pretending as if her own emotions weren't lodged in her throat.

It wasn't until the Elders begrudgingly agreed to grant Kyra her request - after the sisters demanded it - that Phoebe even contemplated the possibility, only to dismiss it. Kyra wanted an escape from the demonic world, and Phoebe was a Charmed One with obligated responsibilities that she couldn't lift from her shoulders. Kyra wanted freedom, and Phoebe couldn't offer it.

It was Kyra herself who eventually pointed out the obvious. Upon being informed about her impending transformation, her expression was one of genuine glee. Phoebe didn't even have time to react before Kyra was kissing her.

A demon who wanted to be human. A demon who wanted to experience what humanity had to offer. A demon who wanted to love.

Kyra's lips tasted like freedom.
