been trying to avoid tumblr (successfully) but i saw an insta reel with a child with the same disability as mine, recovering in the same way i did and i cant not say anything. and the comments are all calling the kid a miracle and a gift from god and i had to pause ljke. us, with our disability, aren't a miracle. we had to work for what we have now. we have to work to be seen as abled. with all hope, the kid won't grow up the way i did, thinking they're just like everyone else but a' little bit worse'. with all hope they will always know they're disabled. with all hope, physical therapy will work to help them and not mask their disability instead. with all hope

#odd seeing it because i had none of that reaction #my parents were devastated. my dad told me he was the most scared hes ever been deciding on my surgery #and they didn't do that brcause i was a gift from god #they did that because i was their newborn #mina's personal blurbs #disability
