i really do wholeheartedly believe that tom's closeted/repressed homosexuality is real and something that his relationship dynamic with shiv is wrapped up in. and at the same time it is inexplicably true that it's also kind of besides the point. idk man i don't like it either

#i just want tom to come out already. god #mine #tom #ig it's just like. his capacity for feeling is kinda separate from his capacity for desire #and it's crazy that i should feel distant from this concept bc i relate to it!#i literally once figured specifically that there was simply no good reason that gender should be a factor in emotion #and therefore that i should consider myself 'panromantic' all the while that i absolutely still knew i only physically wanted men #so the romance between him and shiv is like. well tom defines it as romance bc that's what he's functionally purposefully doing. but that's #where it ends #and so all the drama between them exists as plainly as if it was between a straight man who simply was in an unhealthy relationship #but then just shift angles and then yeah there you have the fact that homosexuality is a factor here #i'm prob jus toverthinking it anyway
