OK so I think one of the things I hate the most on a personal level about the whole "you have to want to/already be transitioning to be trans!!!" bullshit is that it's really harmful to anyone who's still questioning/figuring out their gender stuff.
Like, I've known I'm some flavour of not cis for? Like? 4 years now? And I'm not even remotely out to the majority of people in real life, and even the idea of doing that is terrifying. How can I possibly think of transitioning (whatever that might mean for me as a genderqueer person who is not binary) when to do so, especially as a non-binary person, would require people in my life to know about me being trans? Sure, there are some transition things that I maybe quite like the sound of, but frankly at the moment they seem almost absurdly out of reach and impossible, even before you get to the medical establishment's prejudice against trans and particularly non-binary people. Even in queer spaces (bc of truscum and other exclusionist fuckers who are promoting this discourse) I don't necessarily feel safe to come out about my gender.
Non-binary and genderqueer folks, and trans folks in general, regardless of whether they're dysphoric/want to transition/whatever arbitrary qualification you've decided to put on transness today, need spaces where they can be themselves, explore their gender and the possibilities that come with that without being forced (by people in our own community/claiming to be allies nonetheless) to fit into a certain box (which gets smaller and smaller all the time) in order to be acknowledged as real.
@queerautism tagging you bc I've been reading your takedowns/general mocking of transmed bullshit on your blog
Feel free to reblog. Transmeds/terfs/other exclusionists who comment will be immediately blocked
