mai’s most character defining moment is related to zuko, but zuko and katara’s most defining moments are relating to each other. it really isn’t that hard to realize why people started shipping zutara.

#this isn't anti maiko btw #and i love mai #zutara #but it just .. baffles me when people act like zutara as a ship came out of left field #because they were quite literally a part of character turning points #like crossroads of destiny #and even though he makes the wrong choice at that moment it's something he reflects on when he's in the FN #it's something he regrets #and then ofc being there during katara's defining moment and supporting her through it nonjugmentally #and then katara actively supporting and standing by him as he faced azula #it's underrated how much that probably affected zuko because he cares for and about his sister #that's something that katara recognized #these two characters know each other WELL for the amount of time they've spent together #also it makes no sense when people say 'oh they're besties/good friends' but never romance #because oftentimes those people ship friends to lovers and isn't that... the whole foundation?
