One of the reasons why it took me a looong time to accept Regina was in season one, she did not care about Henry. She just didn't. And it kind of drives me nuts when people claim she was a good mom.

Regina was emotionally abusive to Henry and the writers of OUAT did a terrible job at her redemption arc because they refused to acknowledge this as abuse. (Along with the refusal of acknowledgement that she canonically raped Graham and murdered him...like the show NEVER deals with Graham's murder. That's one of the reasons that it's a plot point in TCAS and Time Strangers, because A&E just...expected their audience to ignore it.)
