Okay, but I am *obsessed* with these FaceTime calls because we have talked a lot about the Abby parallels/contrasts with Eddie leaving but still keeping in constant contact, but have we talked about the Shannon parallels/contrasts???
Like, we see a video call in Eddie begins where Shannon basically uses Chris to get Eddie on the call so she can pick a fight (forcing Chris into the middle of it) about something she KNOWS Eddie does not have the capacity to sit and discuss with her at the moment. Like, he's not at an office job dodging her calls and coming home late so they can't talk, he's literally in an active war zone and flying off to rescue injured soldiers and he is STILL trying to do the video call while being berated for being a bad dad and partner and feeling like a failure.
Contrast that with Buck being a calm, steady, reassuring presence every time Eddie reaches out, and affirms that Eddie can trust his instincts on what to do with his own son! He gives Eddie the support Eddie needs, and we don't see Eddie being forced into anything, or being caught at inconvenient times because they are communicating so clearly and talking whenever they can and working things out together!
It's just such a clear contrast to everything BOTH of them are used to from their previous partners and so full of love and support and having each other's backs like.....it's happening! It's happening on our screens before our eyes!

--
This is the night she talked about for months on end, sleepless nights just waiting for everyone to agree to this...a well awaited sleepover like old times in everyones single days, y/n's parents weren't too found of having four boys over at the house however one day when her parents walked in and saw them laying on the couch with her soothing her whilst she cried about a boyfriend breaking her heart they had a change of heart.
A small knock appeared, it was Sebastian.. he looked gorgeous as ever.
"Hi doll" he gave her that amazing smile he always did he dropped his bag pulling her into a hug it's like she took a fresh breath of air knowing he was safe in her arms no one would hurt him, his fiancé of course she hurts him everyday when she says the words "I love you"..
"I can't come to myself and go and and and- sit there like Alex didn't pay y/n to leave and pretend I don't know anything about it" Chris was upset he wasn't happy with Sebastian was distancing himself everyday from him, it was sad he was losing his best friend.
"I think she needs to be alone with him tonight, his wedding is in a few days she needs to talk to him" Henry said they knew they needed time alone
Back To Y/n's house
"Hey seb" she called out in her room the check in her hands she heard his footsteps coming she quickly hid the check her fight or flight response kicking in she whispered to herself "God damn it" she slide the check into the drawer he entered her room both hands holding him on the narrow doorway he looked gorgeous, he had on such beautiful smile on his face his white t shirt bringing out the color of his eyes.
"Henry called they can't make it something happened Chris had a fight with Jen Henry had work, Anthony told me he was free but something came up" Sebastian said, they set her up.. she knew them like the back of her hand
"Well I guess it's just us tonight, pizza a movie ice cream" she laughed getting closer to him the heat radiating off of his body she felt it he was Nervous..? he let go of the door way his arms coming down to hug her "things aren't going to be like this anymore, that sucks and I wish things were different." Sebastian said he was a little taller than her his chin on her head with his eyes closed "You're starting your life don't even think about disappointing anyone or not being good enough everyone loves you the choices you make is what is better for you, I'll always side with you"
"You know you'll never really be out of my life you mean to much to me-" the knock on the door brought her out of her of his words
"pizza!" She said running to the door
"You know we we're having a serious conversation!!" He yelled after her with a laugh he loved this side of her, one second she could tell a poem and the next she was screaming about what gummy bear tasted the best, She laughed getting plates and cups he helped her
"You're such a punk" he said helping her
"ass hat" she nudged his stomach he smelled her perfume as she got close to him "Hey didn't I buy you this perfume" he remembered
"Yeah for my birthday, i wear it all the time." She laughed nervously she thought he wouldn't notice and he did.
After a while they ate, they got in her bed watched a movie together it was warm nice to have someone you love next to you.
Her memories fluttered her mind again
"End your friendship after the wedding"
The words rang into her brain annoyingly she wanted to stop thinking and be with him she couldn't do it. "Hey what's wrong" brought her out of her thoughts quickly they were laying next to each other his arm behind her their heads close
"Its nothing"
He paused the movie fixing his position to see her clearly he laid on his side his hand holding his head up "Tell me what's going on, you know me doll, me and you were always the closest" he wasn't wrong, god his eyes are beautiful she thought for a second she now laid on her side facing him the same exact way
"Okay here's a question, there's a guy I like he's seeing someone else I caught his girlfriend cheating should I tell him or just let it go maybe the girl didn't mean it and I'm ruining it for them you know-"
"I think this girl that you're talking about doesn't deserve a second chance" he put his fingers on her arm running them up and down he didn't realize he was doing it, "I think I love him seb" she was telling him in a sense she loved him, he felt his stomach drop "yeah?"
"I mean he's always been there for me I can't explain the way I feel when am around him it's like butterflies" she smile those butterflies erupting again just looking at him staring into his eyes
"Tell him how you feel don't let that slide, she cheated on him point blank that should've been it from the start"
"Its too late he's in love with her and it was months ago but I feel so guilty for it"
"He'll understand, you feel a certain way about him" he caressed her skin lightly, her body was going to through waves of bliss it was intense he didn't even realize what he was doing to her the more she looked at him the more she felt in love
"You feel a little better?" He asked his fingers still caressing her skin, she nodded laying next to her again back into the position they was in before she stared at the screen and he stared at her for a few moments, his mind now racing; Alex is the one you want.. Right? now you're feeling differently about y/n? After all these years. he mentally wanted his brain to stop talking, as he stared at her she stood half way up "I totally forgot, I have a wedding gift for you" she stood up "wait til the wedding" he said with a smile her stomach just felt sick at the idea she smiled through the pain "I wanted to give it to you now it's going to be very difficult to talk to you that day so," she looked in a drawer by the picture window she stared out into the night sky of NYC it was slightly cold the winter going to end soon, she sighed lightly enough for him not to notice "this movie is horrendous take it off" he laughed at her words taking the movie off and putting on a movie they've watched 100 times, dirty dancing it made them laugh.
"here is your gift, something to remember me by" she laughed, but knowing it was her last days with him crushed her amensely.
"This is your wedding gift, it was on the registion so I just got it it's a... mixer" she laughed he smiled at her "Before you open this one" the small box in her hands, "I want you to know I want the best for you forever, I want you to be happy" she smiled and he hugged her "listen whatever it is I love it already." He opened the small box it was a silver ring the metal looked scratched a little old looking, on the inside it said "something broken could always be fixed"
"Grandpa stan gave me that ring the night we met" she gave a half smile
"You're kidding?" He laughed trying to not cry
"the night I met him he told me you are a special person in Sebastian's life without you he wouldn't be the person he is today give this to him when he needs it most" her heart aches just thinking about the encounter years ago before he passed, sebastian started to let some tears fall "I can't beileve this" words couldn't explain the emotions that he felt,
"Thank you" he said she gave him a tissue "always" they continued to eat ice cream & watch the movie in front of them
"Baby is so pretty I wish i could look like her" she looked into her almost empty carton
"You're prettier" he said with a half full mouth of ice cream, her heart felt full as he was about to speak again his phone rang
it was her.. she rolled her eyes she looked at the screen
"Johnny" and "Baby" were about to have sex..
Sebastian finally got off the phone he let out a breath putting the phone on the side of him "what's wrong" she asked trying to get out of her head from the scene in front of her
"Alex wanted me home so she got mad and went to a friends house apparently- she's embarrassed I'm not there" he stressed out to much "seb you're going to spend the rest of your life with this women one night means nothing" she laughed Sebastian laid flat on the pillow and yanked on her shirt gesturing for her to"lay with him" turning off the lamp next to her and reached over seb's head for the other lamp, the only light that shined through was the tv she laid on her side and looked at Sebastian both underneath the covers is this what love feels like she asked herself in her thoughts she had never felt so intrigued by someone like this.
"Goodnight" he smiled at her his sleepy eyes falling slightly "night seb" she said he was on the left she was on the right, both their back to each other and finally they both drifted off to sleep
+
She woke up to something she thought she would never wake up to, Sebastian was spooning her. She loved every minute of it reccluctant to actually get up and start her day. His arm wrapped around her waist his hand with the silver ring she had gifted him right around his finger, sitting there for another few minutes until she needed to get up she smiled, however her smile faded.. thinking of the wedding in 5 days she took a fast shower got dressed and ran out the door quickly before he woke up she wanted to bring him food and coffee, and when she got there she saw something she didn't like too much... Alexandra was there with that same guy from the photo a few months ago, her stomach turned, she took another picture of them both standing in line for coffee she tried to hide her face for her not to see however what she didn't know Alex caught her this time, both times y/n saw her wasn't on purpose it's just meant for y/n to know and tell Sebastian but she can't... She won't
she made it back just in time before he would awake
She liked home made coffee while he liked store bought "already made no hustle no hassle" were his words she laughed thinking about the first time he said that, a few texts popped up on her phone
Henry
"How'd the night go?, we wanted to give you guys some time alone sorry we didn't come."
Y/n
"It was fine, there's to much to talk about over text I'll come by the hotel and bring my best friend some food or we could go get lunch?"
"Photo attachment 1: *Alex and that guy* she's cheating on him again!!! 😡😡😡
Henry
"You have to tell him y/n!!! You can't let this go anymore do it before it's too late! bring me lunch and when you go back to work I'll bring you lunch deal"
"Don't be mad I love you"
Y/n
"Henry I can't break his heart"
"I love you to but sometimes you're a jeek
Henry
"You have to y/n it's important it's for his safety if you don't do it by tomorrow I'm gonna do it myself!!!"
"What's a jeek? New internet slang were too old for that also those emoji things are dumb"
Y/n
"I meant to say jerk it auto corrected, emojis are cute? Kinda.."
"Also i almost showed Sebastian the check!my flight or fight response kicked in and I couldn't do it I hate myself"
Henry
"you're an idiot tell me everything later!"
"Hey" a voice was heard which startled her a little she wasn't prepared to have a man's voice heard in her home, she lived by herself it was always quiet
"Hi how'd you sleep?" She asked putting her phone down giving him coffee he looked at it with love in his eyes "i haven't had coffee from this place in months, she makes homemade and it's bad" he drank it and shallowed slowly
"Come here more often I'll buy you ice cream and buy you coffee" she bribed him he looked at her phone that buzzed on the table he pointed to it "answer it" she tried to shake it off "no not right now"
"Is it that guy again David is he bothering you?" He drank the coffee and sat on the stool across from her the island right in the middle of them
"No it's just bussiness stuff" lie, she was getting good at lying to him really it was a photo attachment from Henry, apparently Alex and that guy got a hotel...at Henry's....building.... shit
Henry: *Photo attachment* his name is Robbie Amell, he just checked in to the Hilton she was trying to hide her face I saw her.
Her heart started beating very quickly Sebastian having no idea what was going on, Henry and Y/n caught her cheating she's getting messy.
"I'm gonna go back home" he finished eating he always ate so quick? "NO DON'T GO HOME" good job y/n not obvious at all. "Spend the day with me I'm going to meet up with Henry to have lunch all of us will go have lunch together" why the fuck did she say that that's where she is..... wait MAYBE HE COULD CATCH HER AND WE DON'T HAVE TO LOSE HIM! the idea rang through her brain the moment the words came out of her mouth
"Okay" he wiped his face and hands "I'm going to go shower" "Oh I have that shampoo you like" "the green one?" "Yeah you left it here I never used it" "aww" She let out a nice shaky breath he went in the bathroom she heard the door lock and picked up her phone quickly calling Henry
"How did you see them?"
"Hello to you to"
"Come on Henry"
"I went in to pick up files from the front desk and well I saw them check in because I own the building I'm allowed to look at the check ins" he said he was holding a nervous stance his hand on his hip and the phone in his hand on his ear he was a nervous wreck, you don't beileve something until you see it with your own two eyes
"Yeah we know hot shot you own hotels" she laughed and so did he
"it said Robbie Amell check in for whatever it is 9am/10 early check out later tonight 7:30pm"
"It's 9:30, eleven fucking hours you've got to be kidding me!"
he laughed he tried not to be so nervous but he was
"I'll call you later to let me in"
"Of course, we'll break the news together when she gets caught? Of course"
"Thank you for doing this"
"Only for you, If it was anyone else I would've had to give it a second thought."

Wade and The Duckception
Tumblr media
You and your wedding party moved to the venue of your choice following the wedding. It was evening, and lights were strung up from place to place, falling softly from the trees that over hung the beautifully placed tables. Everyone had filed in as you and Tom were announced as husband and wife walking out through the terrace. Wade waddled the behind the two of you, his head pivoting at the sounds of cheering from your families and close friends.
You and Tom walked over to your mom and Dad, who were beaming as you wrapped your arms around them. Tom doing the same receiving a peck on his check from your mom.
"Thank you for coming." You said smiling brightly.
"I still can't believe you gave your sister the wrong dates." You mother stated with a slow smile, Tom snickered behind you looking up at the lights strung over head.
"Mom, as much as I love my sister, I can only take her in small doses, and preferably ones that don't involve life altering decisions." You sighed, your parents understood, they had seen the basket case she had turned into when you graduated from culinary school and how the 'party' had somehow morphed around her.
"What did you tell her anyway?" Your Dad asked.
"We gave her the wrong year." Tom replied with a smile. "We said that we had decided to hold the wedding off due to my filming schedule."
"There is always a plus side to marrying an actor, convenient excuses that no one will argue." You giggled, wrapping your hands around Tom's arm looking at him. Wade waddled over and pecked at the shine on your dads shoe, before looking up at the man himself.
"There's my granduck." He said with a smile and picked the molting bird up from the floor. The bird chirped happily rubbing his head under the man's chin. "Yes, I know, a wedding reception is a terrible place for such a handsome duck."
"Oh my gosh, he has wrapped around his wing." You giggled as your Dad placed the duck back down.
"Thomas, I still can't believe you put Mickey in the room with Kay." Your Mom chided him with a bit of humor in her voice.
"In my defense, she had taken up residence and I figured she needed to meet all the family members." He smiled back at her, a twinkle of mischievousness in his sparkling blue eyes. You and Tom continued to have a conversation with him as Wade waddled deciding to make his rounds.
He waddled over towards the bar when he recognized a deep booming laughter. His little feet picked of the pace as he head straight for the sound, his eyes narrowed in on the pant cuff as he closed in. He nipped onto the fabric and then started to back petal, trying to get the man's attention. The man tilt down his head to look at the ball of semi feathers pulling and tugging, his feet slipping out.
"Wade!" Chris Hemsworth bellowed, scooping the bird up in swoop. The duck quacking up a storm and wiggling, trying to get closer to the tin in his beast pocket. "Hey now, where are your manners, little sir."
The duck paused, staring him. His head pivoted to look at the shiny tin that was poking out just by a bit, Wade leaned in toward it. Slowly he opened his mouth, Chris saw what the avian thief was about to do and snagged the tin out of his pocket before the bird had a chance to grab it.
"No thievery, it's not nice." Chris chuckled opening the tin and pulling a mealy worn out.
"This is the famous Wade I've heard so much about." The ducks head snapped toward the sound of the voice, mealy worm sticking out of his beak.
"Yes, sweetheart, this is Wade, Tom's duck. Wade this is my wife Elsa." Chris stated, rubbing the side of the ducks head before heading the scrambling bird over.
Wade immediately calmed down in the other woman's arms, observing the room from his new standing point. She pet the animals head, as he quacked happily, and content. Wade continued to make happy chirping noise as the pair walked around the room.
You and Tom made your own way around the room, you were elated that today had finally come. At the same time relieved that it went off without hitch. You were very happy with how it all turned out, exactly how you had planned it, telling the wedding plan that you wouldn't be need his services was the smartest decision you had ever made.
You snuggled into your groom as he greeted and talked with your guests, your eyes surveying the room spotted Elsa setting Wade back down. Wade now again a free duck, to mingle about. As the night progressed you had your first dance with Tom, he held you close, and tenderly. At some point you looked over to see Wade chasing Tessa, his wings outstretched behind him, mouth agape, Benedict's kids close behind him giggling.
You couldn't have pictured it any better if you had tried.
However, the duck eyed some lace hanging loose from one of the tables. He skidded from his full sprint and turned suddenly, legs coming out from beneath him. He rolled, sending feathers a flight. He stood back up on webby feet, and ran straight for the lace. Ducking under the table runner, just to come popping back out the other side. The bird quaking happily to himself as he rushed back under and came out the other side.
Lace was the ducks soft spot, such fun could be had running under the delicate fabric. Wade stopped just under the ornate drapping, the  fabric gently bunching on his back as he watch people pass him, completely oblivious to the small animal under the table. Slowly he stepped out and looked up at the table, there was one tall pure white cake, perfectly decorated with burnt orange flowers cascading from the top down one side of it.
The second smaller cake is what caught the ducks attention. Also snow white it had creepy crawlies perfectly placed down the side mimicking your wedding cake. The duck opened his mouth, little dark eyes widening.
As Tom turned you during your dance you spied over to the cakes you had made, since you were a baker you had absolutely refused to let anyone bake and decorate your cake. You knew how you wanted it to look, and it was easier to do it yourself then explain it to someone. But that wasn't what caught your eye, oh no, it was the steady, small jerky movements both cakes were making, inching closer and closer to the edge.
"Wade." You breathed, as you realized there could only be one culprit to make the cakes inch further to their doom.
"Darling?" Tom asked as the two you both stopped, his eyes traveled in the direction you were looking and saw what you saw. "Wade!"
Both you sprang into action, calling out for the nefarious avian. It was to late, within two feet you saw both cakes teeter on the edge, and with one final pull it was as if they fell in slow motion.
First the top tier of your cake slid, slowly moving towards the floor as gravity took hold, the body of the cake slipped cascading downward to the unsuspecting duck. The much smaller cake, Wade's cake flipped with ease, landing face side down. Cake covered the dastardly duck, slowly he pushed his head up from under the top tier of your cake, the gum paste flowers making a tiara on his head.
You stopped short of the mess, giggling as the birds head pivoted around looking for the tasty treats he had spotted. Tom let out a groan of frustration pulling his hands down his face as Wade stretched his neck out grabbing a iceing covered bug.
"And this folks." You turned to face the stunned crowd bending slightly to gather some of the ruined cake on your fingertips, smiling brightly. "Is why I made two wedding cakes."
You reached over to your husband and swiped your finger covered with frosting across his face, still giggling to yourself. You could hear the trolly behind you wheeling out the second cake just as expertly decorated as the first. Tom looked at you, frosting smeared across his face and smiled, because of course you would the one to plan ahead, knowing just what that little rascal could do.

Also for Flick Fic Week
Here are some bantery, smutty FtF-related parts of “Scavenger.” :)
The worst part about the dream was that she never knew when it was coming.  Good days, bad days, boring days -- there was no rhyme or reason.  The beginning wasn't always the same, so even in her sleep it could sneak up on her.  She would be with Mulder, sometimes arguing, sometimes walking -- once, to her chagrin, they had even been making out -- when the room would start to spin.  She felt the floor go out from under her, like an earthquake, and bile would rise in her throat. Dark and cold set in next, but those were bearable. The worst part was feeling herself expand, the terrible pressure that pushed her internal organs back up under her ribs, and the second heartbeat that echoed hers.
She heard it in her head, felt it in her bones, relentless. The end was the same: she awoke clawing the sheets, gasping for air.  Always, her hand went to her middle to touch the phantom inside. Scully rolled out of bed on shaky legs and went to splash water on her face.  She knew the source of the dream, of course; she'd read his reports until the paper was threadbare.  It got so she didn't know how much of the dream was her memory and how much was his nightmare come to life in her subconscious.  Plus, there were holes.  She remembered most the pounding inside her and the white white ice. Water dripped down her chin as she stared at her face in the mirror.
I went there to quit, she thought, I went to leave him.
She remembered her speech because she'd practiced it in the car on the way to his apartment.  She had vague recollections of standing there, telling him she was through.  His face, crystallized in disbelief, this she would always remember.  But his answer was...what? She couldn’t recall. She could ask, but then he might tell her. How embarrassing, she thought, if he had said okay.  If he had been relieved.  You were great Scully, but I agree it's time for a change of scene.  Keep in touch.
She had practically forced herself back on him at the end, had in fact been forcing herself ever since -- wither Mulder goest, she went also, whether he liked it or not.  Lately he'd been disappearing on his own again, leaving her behind like something he'd scrape off his shoe. Thanks, he'd said last night, and seemed to mean it, but still she didn't dare ask.
*snip*
Dusk settled, muting the crazed colors of the Woodsbury town fair.  Helpless stranded balloons waved from the trees, and a brass band played swing music on center stage.  Mulder and Scully crossed the soft, fresh-cut grass, taking care not to step on any picnickers enjoying the show. Children flew past them like accelerated particles -- one hapless victim crashing headfirst into Mulder's knees.
"Fireworks won't start for another hour," he said as they stood in line at the concession stand.  The scent of popcorn hung heavy in the air.  "We have time to ride the Ferris wheel."
She eyed him.  "Mulder, no."
“Scully, yes."
"Amusement rides at country fairs are notorious for their poor safety codes."
"It looks plenty safe to me."
"I've heard that one before -- usually just before one or both of us ends up in quarantine."
He paused to order his hot dog.  "And she'll have..."
"A veggie burger," Scully supplied, and Mulder made a face.
“Now that's danger right there.  Those things will scrub out your lower intestine like a Brillo pad."
"At least my food doesn't contain an actual intestine."
He scanned the chalk-written menu. "Beer?”
"Why not?"  They weren't on the clock so one beer couldn't hurt.
Mulder handed her plate to her but couldn't get his wallet out with his hands full of hot dog. "Hold my wiener, Scully?"
She took it without thinking, and the kids behind them laughed.  Mulder bit his lip in silent mirth as she gave him a long-suffering look.  "You do this to me on purpose."
"It's a heck of a wiener, isn't it?"
She took advantage of his open mouth and shoved one end in.  "It sure is, Mulder."
They strolled over in the direction of the temporary picnic tables.  "Seriously, Scully," he said between bites of wiener.  "When was the last time you were on a Ferris wheel?"
"Seriously, Mulder?  Never."
"Never?  That's impossible.  Why not?  I know you're not afraid of heights."
"We didn't do stuff like this when I was a kid.  My parents weren't circus people."
"That ends a long-standing question I've had," he said, and she nudged him in the shin with her foot.
"Plus, a rickety, waving bucket fifty feet in the air?  I don't see the attraction."
"Don't knock it 'til you've tried it," he replied.  He tipped back his head to drain his bottle of beer.  "Finish yours and we'll go."
She looked down into her bottle.  "I may need another."
"It's fun.  You'll see."  He grabbed her hand and started dragging her toward the line.
XXX
Over the trees they went, halting at the pinnacle to load more people on to the wheel.  Mulder used his weight to rock their swing, and Scully gripped the side.  "Admit it," he said.  "It's nice up here."
She peered through one eye at the blanket of lights stretched out beneath them.  "It's okay."  Up in the air, it was cooler.  The big band had shifted into "Stars and Stripes Forever," and the music wasn't so loud from their vantage point. The wheel heaved to a start again and Scully relaxed a bit in her seat.  The bucket of bolts wasn't going to collapse just yet.
"I just love the Fourth of July," Mulder said, stretching one arm behind her.  "Barbecue and fireworks and all-day baseball games."
"The holiday ends tomorrow," she reminded him. "Kersh is going to want to know where we are."
"He won't even miss us."
"Sure, right up until the next fertilizer assignment comes in."
He looked at her. "I didn't think you'd even noticed."
"Mulder, how could I not notice?  The man has given us every scut assignment that comes down the pike." He turned his head, and she frowned.  "Wait a minute -- what you mean is, you don't think I *cared*."
He still avoided her eyes.  "Not exactly."
Scully forgot her unease and shifted in the swing, grabbing his arm.  "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I figured you liked the change, that's all.  We're coloring within the lines for once.  It must be a relief to you."
"I can't believe you'd say that, Mulder. All our training, all our years of experience in the field, it's all being wasted on pissant cases so Kersh can grind us into the dust, and you think that makes me happy?"
“I didn't say happy.  I said relieved."
She looked away.  Up, up, and around they went.  She felt a little dizzy.  "I don't believe this."
"Well, the truth is, Scully, that sometimes I don't know whether you differentiate between the X-Files and a giant pile of sh--"
“Mulder!”
"Well, it's true!"
"I can't believe you'd even say that."
“Oh, come on, Scully.  At the end there you weren't exactly bowling anyone over with your enthusiasm."
"I worked every bit as hard as you did."
"I never said you didn't."
She glared at him.  "No, I just don't quite live up to your high standards, is that it?"
"Now you're putting words in my mouth."
"I don't think I am."
"You left, Scully.  You quit, remember?  You had a transfer and you wanted to leave."
"Not the X-Files!"
"No, just me."
Her mouth snapped shut.  "Is that what you really think?"
He gave a half-shrug.  "It's the truth, isn't it?"
"Mulder, I told you I wanted to stay.  I told you I wasn't going anywhere."He shrugged again, his eyes on the ground below, and she realized the problem:  he didn't quite believe her.  She rubbed her forehead with one hand, wondering what to say, and she felt his fingers close over hers.  He tugged her hand down and into his lap.
"Fireworks are starting," he said just as the wheel came to a halt again.  They swayed in front of a glittering sky.  The first round of lights sputtered out as quickly as they had exploded.  Scully curled her fingers around Mulder's and watched the giant ghostly smoke spiders dissolve into the trees.
XxX
Yawning, she opened her door in slow motion when he stopped in the motel parking lot.  Mulder popped the trunk and pulled out a familiar box.  Scully blinked at him.  "You're not seriously going to watch more of those tapes tonight, are you?"
"I figure I've had my break. Time's ticking here, Scully. If we don't ID this guy soon he's going to put another notch on his belt."
She drew a shuddering breath and walked towards him.  "Okay, then. Two sets of eyes are better than one.  Let's get to it."
"No, Scully. You get some rest. No point in both of us burning the midnight oil."
"It's just past eleven."  She put her hands on his back and began steering him towards his room. "Let's go.”
“Okay, okay."  He let her propel him to his door, where he fumbled with the box and the key.  Scully leaned against the outer wall and yawned some more. Inside, he wrestled with the VCR while she took off her shoes and on his semi-made bed.  The sheets smelled of starch and Mulder.  "I think this is the one," he said as the TV screen came to life.  "Yeah, June nineteenth is where we left off." He yawned as well and crawled across the bed to join her.
She wiggled her toes in his blankets.  "You like Chris Cullen as a suspect?" she asked.
"Wouldn't rule him out.  We know he had contact with at least two of the victims.  By his own admission, he's been here during the summer for the past four years."
"What if we can't find Mark Roy on any of the tapes?"
"I don't know. I'm hoping like hell that we do, but something tells me it's not going to be that easy."
She nodded and settled in against the pillow.  Deep and soft, it let her sink forever.  She watched the flickering black and white images through heavy eyes.  A man with a long beard was buying a six-pack of Heineken and Twix bar.  Yuck, Scully thought, and then was fast asleep.
She jerked awake hours later to find a blank, glowing screen and Mulder passed out beside her, the remote still in his limp hand.  Curling towards him, she nuzzled into the pillow and contemplated his slackened face.  Lashes shadowed his cheekbones and she could see the faint stubble creeping in around his chin.  His mouth was parted a bit, his lower lip shining in the surreal light.  In her dreams, she could taste that lip -- salty and cold.  She felt it pressed to hers with such urgency it took her breath away.
Just a dream, she thought lazily, but it seemed so real.  She sneaked another look at his mouth, and Mulder sighed.  His breath teased over the plump bottom edge, making it quiver, and Scully felt an answering flutter in her belly. Her subconscious could *not* be making this up. I've kissed him.  I must have.
She drew up and looked down at him more sternly, as if he were holding out on her.  Still no memory came.  Impossible. His mouth worked in and out once, almost like an infant's, and he turned his head a bit on the pillow.  Scully's heart sped up. I could do it now, she thought.  Just to see.  If there's any way to know for sure, it's to try it again. She squeezed her eyes shut, hardly daring to believe what she was contemplating.  She wasn't going to molest him in his sleep, was she?
Yes, yes she was.  He would never know and she needed to know.  It was just a kiss.  She swallowed hard and began her approach.  Her hair fell forward as she leaned down so she tucked it behind her air.  Already her skin was sensitized, the sweep of her fingers against her skin making her tingle.  Mulder didn't move.  She lowered her face another few inches until she could smell him, smell the cotton of his T-shirt and the warm creases in his neck.  Her mouth watered and she licked her lips.  His exhales brushed her lips; she almost jerked away. Light-headed, she closed her eyes and let gravity do the rest.  Their mouths met.
Scully froze, terrified he would wake, but Mulder slept on.  Gradually she relaxed and let herself feel his lips against hers.  Nope, she thought as she lingered, never done this before. She shifted position and kissed him a bit more firmly, changing angles so their lips brushed again and again. Suddenly, he stopped cooperating...
He pulled himself from sleep like he was dragging the ocean, slow, the tides sucking him back in.  He could taste her tongue against his lips and he didn't want to wake up just yet. But his eyes flickered open. Cool air and warm skin. Scully's hair against his cheek.  He could hear her heart beating, or was it his own?  She looked down at him with wide luminous eyes.
Oh my God, he thought, panic face in action, but he didn't so much as twitch.  He kept perfectly still so as not to scare her away.  When he found his voice, it came out pitched like gravel.  "What was that?"
"Um."  She cleared her throat and looked at her hands  "An experiment?"
"I see."  He stared at her some more.  "What was the purpose of this experiment exactly?"
"To see if we had done... this before."
“We haven't."
"Yeah, that's what I found out."
"You were unclear?"
"Um, maybe a little, yeah.  It's hard to explain."
"Oh."  His hand came up and cupped the curve of her face.  He stoked her fine skin with the pad of his thumb; she leaned into his touch.  "Maybe we should do it some more, then. Just so you're certain."
"We could..."  She licked her lips. "We could do that."
"Good."  His hand snaked around to the back of her neck and brought her down to him, closer this time.  Her breath whispered across his face just before her lips came down on his.  He exploded like the evening's fireworks, sparklers behind his eyes as she learned him with her hot little tongue. He tasted her lips, her teeth, felt the soft weight of her pressing him into oblivion.  Her thigh made a rough slid over his, denim on denim, Scully twisting in his arms.  He sprinted around the bases waiting for her to stop him sliding into second, but she just raised her chest for his hands.  Shaking, he stroked her through her T-shirt with tender fingers until she broke off panting against his face.
"Mulder--"
"Stop?"  He found her swollen nipples with his thumbs and she shook her head.  Her free hand slipped under his shirt to skim along his ribs.  He took it as his cue to do the same.
Soon he had her bra undone, trapped under the cotton shirt with his nimble fingers.  He pinched her nipples at the same time and she cried aloud.  His cock twitched in his jeans.  She was breathless, needy, and for once he knew what to give her.  His thigh rose up between her legs.  He couldn't imagine they would actually get their pants off; even in his dreams he couldn't get that far.  If they left their clothes on, it wasn't really happening. They groped like naughty teenagers, grinding together on the bed while he played in her mouth with his tongue.  The pressure in his pants grew unbearable but he made no move to relieve it.
Scully wasn't as patient.  His hips bucked when her fingers found him, playing along the taut fly.  He pushed his head deep into the pillow and gritted his teeth.  The only sound in the room was their ragged breathing and Scully working their zippers. He sighed when he felt her weight come down on him again, his cock still tucked half inside his jeans.  She kissed his neck, his ear, his chin.
He couldn't believe the velvet smooth expanse of her back.  Jerking her shirt up, he mapped greedy hands over every inch of her.  His fingertips found the loose waistband drooping at her hips, rubbing up and down and sneaking a little farther in each time.  Scully's hips picked up his rhythm, forcing him deeper, until at last he met the leg band of her underwear.  The lace edge was slippery, wet, and he wedged his fingers inside.
Scully spasmed and muttered a dirty word near his ear.
"There?" he breathed against her sweet skin. She hummed a yes, pushing into his hand, and he clawed her hair out of the way to see her face.
Her eyes were closed in concentration, her brow furrowed the way it did when she was working out an argument.  Thinking about fucking me, he thought, and nearly lost it right then.  He bit her shoulder, cotton and all .Her tempo increased, her rocking deepened.  Blood thrummed in his veins.  Thisisitthisit…
The phone rang. He froze but Scully's hips jerked several more times on his hand.  She braced herself on either side of his head. "Phone," she murmured, sounding lost.
Phones ringing at 2am meant only bad news.  He pressed his face to the hollow between her breasts.  Somehow, he managed to free his hand from her thighs, and Scully collapsed onto the bed, still breathing hard.  He steadied himself and answered the phone. "Mulder."  His voice came out just a little strained.
"Agent Mulder, it's Eleanor Kot.  I'm sorry to disturb you at  this late hour."
He lay back, closing his eyes.  His dick throbbed in time with his pounding heart. "What is it?"
"We just got a call from CiCi's daughter Janet.  CiCi went to the town fair and hasn't come home."
Mulder looked at Scully.  Her hair was tousled, her cheeks flushed, but her eyes were concerned.  He reached over and squeezed her knee.  "Scully and I'll be right there," he said to Eleanor.
"Hurry," she answered.  "It may already be too late."

My bro. It's the start of a working week for me. Do you have time for some Mannah hc? Assuming either the prank didn't happen or there wasn't any wendigos. How would the rest of the gang react to them? What do they do for fun? And would Hannah like to go on double dates with Beth and whoever she is dating? Feeling the Mannah love right now
Holey my dude, I needed some fun today so thanks for asking this. I never get to talk about Matt/Hannah.First some general hc stuff.Matt was actually being tutored by Beth and that's how he eventually met Hannah. He and Beth get along well enough but Hannah was the friend that brought him into the group.Matt is the only person other than Josh who can tell the twins apart at a glance, even Sam and Chris need two seconds. This is because his two older brothers are also twins.Matt and Hannah became close friends rather quickly. Beth remarks their meeting looked more like two excitable dogs who stumbled on each other than two young teens meeting for the first time.Hannah thought that Matt was gay for far too long.Matt and Hannah both considered each other in a romantic way before either had a crush on the other but (as is stated in Hannah’s Game) Hannah always wrote him off because he wasn’t Mike and that was a big deal. Matt just wasn't ready to see her that way.Matt/Hannah were there no Wendigos? Kinda covered in Hannah’s Game imo.Matt/Hannah no prank? No surprise it's Matt who asks Hannah out after finally realizing 'yeah, we'd be good together!'Hannah doesn't get it at first. He asks her out and she takes it as a friend-date no matter how much he tries to clarify then he buys an orchid for her(Ashley’s advice) and that makes it very, very clear he wants to take her out on a romantic date. They of course hit it off because Matt is exactly the kind of prince charming type she wants and Hannah is surprisingly easy to please which Matt is an expert at.From there they have one of the grossest cheesiest relationships with pretty much every cliche unironically done. It’s sweet if also sickening. The gang: Mike barely notices it and kinda sucks not to have Hannah as an ego booster but "hey, they seem happy so good for them." Emily and Jess think Hannah and Matt are adorable. They usually point out how good they look together or how sweet he is to her. Generally they kinda ship it as they are fairly good friends with both and you can't deny they fit. They will coo and oooohhh and aaaahhhhh and awwwww over things to do with the couple.Ashley is Matt's biggest support system. Jess and Emily are fine but too nosy and gossipy. Ashley is more chill and so he feels more comfortable talking things about Hannah out with her. Plus since she and Hannah are not also close she usually sees his side better than most his other friends do.Sam is basically a combo of Jess and Emily and Ashley (but for Hannah). She and Hannah gush over every little thing to do with it. They're both romantics at heart and Hannah has a romantic boyfriend. They do that a lot, put a huge emphasis on the boyfriend part when they're talking about him. Like Matt with Ashley, Sam is Hannah’s sound board and good at giving her some perspective.Chris is torn on it. He's thrilled because he viewed Matt as competition for Ashley (which is completely in his head) so 'yes, he's taken' and Hannah deserves a nice guy like him. But it’s still Hannah and it's weird for him to see her in this context and since his relationship with Matt has never been all that positive his protective nature causes him to worry for her.Beth's in much the same boat as Chris but for different reasons. Hannah's happy so of course Beth is also happy. But her sister fragile and she isn't even sure her sister should be in a relationship at all let alone with a close friend. She ultimately knows though that she has to let Hannah live her own life and she won't always be there to protect her.Josh... doesn't take it well. At all. The Mike thing was manageable for him because he was sure it was never gonna happen but he didn’t even have his eyes on Matt. Hannah tells him and Beth at the same time after she tells Sam. Josh is simply put not happy. He gives Matt the longest most detailed big brother talk and makes it clear that Matt is not to pressure her on anything ever and if Josh finds out Matt made a move Hannah was opposed to then Josh will make sure Matt is awake when he castrates him so he can watch. He only deals because Hannah seems so happy but you can trust Josh isn't letting up on hating Matt until he puts a ring on Hannah's finger. (If even then.)As a couple:Matt and Hannah stated bluntly have sex a whole lot. Like a lot, a lot. Maybe more than anyone else in the gang but also far more vanilla. They're not very quiet about it in any sense of the word either. Do what you will with that.Other than that Matt and Hannah could not be more cliche as a couple. We are talkimg romantic dinners and walks on the beach and cuddling up by the fire place drinking hot chocolate. This is not to say they are never casual with each other but even then they are always outwardly affectionate. A morning jog together is not out of the question and neither is a game of one-on-one basketball though they have to be careful with that because niether of them likes to lose and they are bad with egging each other on.Hannah also starts regularly taking Matt horseback riding with her. Her family has their own horses and she lets Matt pick one the first time the go and declares it his without even asking her parents.Matt and Hannah are also each other's biggest cheerleaders. They were always supportive of each other before but then after they start dating it's cranked up by about 50%!Hannah is right there with Matt’s family, holdimg a little pompom and wearing a  jersey with his number and name on it at every one of his football games. He's also getting a big kiss after the game either in celebration or as comfort. With Hannah there he never really loses.Likewise Matt is at every one of Hannah’s tennis matches but doesn't quite get the concept crowds are more quiet than they are at football games. There are a lot of more quiet moments where you can hear "whoo go Hannah" very clearly through the crowd. She is also getting a big damn kiss no matter the outcome. As for double dating:Due to her being a RomCom expert she likes the idea in theory but in practice it has never gone well for her and Matt.Josh, Emily, Mike and Jess are all out of the question as Josh's death glare would ruin their night, Emily would be a little too high maintenance for them to have an imput on their own date and they each had crushes on the two latter people.Chris and Ashley was weird because Matt sees Ashley as a sister and Chris sees Hannah as a sister so it was just a whole night of the guys being uncomfortable with the other making any kind of move on their date but also with making one on their own dates.Sam and Beth had worked out the best... except they could not agree on anything. When to go, where to go, who was driving or were they all meeting up somewhere. Basically it was not a fun time.Hannah has since given up hope on the whole double date thing. She and Matt are happier with having the other all to themselves anyway.

'The Bachelor': ABC Exec Says Arie Luyendyk Jr. Wasn't Forced to Dump Becca Kufrin on Camera (Exclusive)
Monday night brought a Bachelor first.
After more than 20 seasons, the show aired a completely unedited scene, and sent shockwaves through Bachelor Nation. The scene showed Arie Luyendyk Jr. breaking up with his fiancee, Becca Kufrin, upon arriving at what she thought would be a private weekend for the two of them.
Many fans and Bachelor/Bachelorette alumni, including Ben Higgins and Sean Lowe, spoke out against the move, saying they didn't think the split should've been filmed. ET spoke with Robert Mills, ABC Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, about what actually went down behind the scenes.
ET: Overall, do you feel good about how the first night of the finale went?
Robert Mills: It got a reaction, and everyone's talking about it. That's really all you can do. You've heard from people today saying, 'I've never watched the show before,' so when you get that [discussion], you can't help but feel this thing came out great.
When and why did you make the decision to air the breakup unedited?
Once we saw the footage it was a two-second thing. Instant. We really needed everyone to see this and have kind of the same reaction we were having. It's like the old saying, there's three sides to every story, yours, mine and the truth. And no one's lying. And that's sort of the case here, where the more of that that we can capture, so everyone can actually see it, and not say, "Well, I said this," "No, actually I said this." Last night, there was no doubt as to what went down there, between Arie and Becca. You now know everything, whether you agree with it, or disagree with it. You see it all, and you're able to make your decision on how you feel about it.
What were the logistics of how this unedited on-camera breakup happened? How was it explained to Becca that there were camera crews on what's called a "happy couple weekend" for the lead and his final pick?
I think it was told, basically, we just want to get an interview about how things are going, and there's no reason for her to sit and say, "Oh my god, a camera's here? He's breaking up with me!" I think that she really just didn't think anything of it.
What was different about filming the breakup because it was an unusual scenario?
It was definitely a skeleton crew.
What about the decision to go split screen for viewers?
It was just because you wanted to see both faces. You know, it's like ... especially as we talked about, there was a real economy of words here, so I think what you wanted to see was the emotion in the faces, and you didn't want to have to go back and forth, so that was really it.
There's been some fan and alumni backlash. How do you respond?
Whenever anything controversial happens, good, bad, or ugly ... there's going to be a backlash, so that always happens. So did we expect it? Yes. Breakups are really hard. We do have the philosophy that there is this unwritten contract that, you have said you're going to share this relationship with everybody, with the audience. It's amazing [that] there's so much outrage over this, but we filmed him breaking up with Lauren! I don't really see what the difference is. I think that the thing with this is, those breakups, the final breakup, there's all the prep time and there's music under it and it swells and it's very romantic and it's this place that's not real. This was real ... which is why it resonated with so many people. None of us get broken up with usually in a place like Peru or Switzerland or St. Lucia or any of these over-the-top places, but we've all certainly gotten broken up with in a house or in a living room on a couch. So I think that it just really hit home and it felt very personal. But, you know, that's the aim of this.
Some fans have argued that Arie was "forced" to break up with Becca on camera by production. Could Arie have done this breakup off camera?
Of course he could have done it off camera if he wanted to! I think we certainly would have explained why ... this still would have played out fairly similarly. We would have had Chris Harrison say, "Arie's had a change of heart.'"And he'd have to say, "I went back to Virginia, and I told Becca," and then you'd have Becca saying, "Well, Arie went and it was incredibly cold and he did this and I can't believe this." You'd just have people telling this instead of seeing it. So I think that we definitely wanted him to do this, and like I said, there is the thing of people are going to see this romance play out before the camera, everything, from beginning to end. And there's a lot of good and there's a lot of bad. But could he have? You can't force somebody into doing something.
Monday night, we heard Arie and Becca talk about a conversation he'd had with Lauren since their split. How did he get in touch with Lauren?
He was very confused probably from say late December through mid-January, which is when this all went down. I think it started with, "Well, is it just something that's going to pass and I'm just confused?" or is this full blown "I made a mistake. My gut, my heart is here and I need to go back to this woman?" And once he realized without a doubt it was the latter, and he needed her, that's when he did let us know, and we made arrangements to get him and Becca in a room together as quickly as possible so he could talk to her. And [to talk to Lauren] he could call the producers and say, "Hey, I spoke to Becca. She knows, and I'd love to get in touch with Lauren." And then I would assume they'd check with Lauren and see if it's OK, and then they'd give him her number.
So why did Arie want to have it filmed? Some people have wondered if it was so Lauren could see what really happened.
You know, I don't know. I can't speak for Arie, but I think that's a really interesting thesis. I mean, it could very well be. There's certainly no doubt, if she wants to watch that, as to what happened, and the one thing I do know is [Arie and Becca] have not seen each other [or spoken] since. So if that's what he wanted to do, Lauren can now watch it all with the rest of us.
Becca took her ring off during the breakup. Where is it now?
Becca's ring is back with Neil Lane, safely!
Arie's known a lot of the crew and producers for years. How did everyone on staff react to what he wanted to do?
Arie is somebody who is really, really well liked by the producers, myself included. He's a great guy, so I think there was a lot of sadness. I think there was a little bit of, "Oh my God, did we fail that he didn't come to this realization in the first place and not pick Lauren?," which was kind of a bummer. People were not jumping up and down high-fiving, saying, "Oh my God, the ratings are going to be amazing."
This is being touted as the most dramatic Bachelor finale ever. Does that make Arie the biggest "villain" ever?
Do I think he's the most flawed Bachelor? Maybe. I think we have to see what happens with Arie and Lauren. Isn't it worth it if Arie and Lauren do end up marrying and together in the long run?
Several contestants from Arie's season have said they don't think he's ready for marriage. Do you?
When I first hung out with him, this was August or September, right before we were starting, he could not have been more sincere in that's what he was looking for. But I think he's a complicated person. I think we saw it in the dates with the parents, and hearing the parents talk about Arie, why they like Becca, because she's going to give you the kick in the ass that you need. So I don't know. I think he certainly loves the idea of being married. But is he? I don't know.
Did any part of you expect this outcome from him?
I think Arie's biggest problem is that he loves too much. He just loves everybody, and I think that's what gets him into trouble. It's never his intention. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. He would never do anything deliberate. I mean, that's why, to me, the most interesting thing, and I've mentioned this before, his big thing, whether it was Emily breaking up with him and breaking his heart, or when he's breaking up with these girls, he always wants that closure hug. Oh, give me a hug. And the fact that Becca would not give him that, it's interesting. Arie really... that's his problem. He wants to give everybody a hug, and sometimes you can't do that. So I think that's when you get into trouble.
Arie made headlines for making some unhappy comments on the official Bachelor Instagram. What's his relationship with the network like now?
This is a hard role no matter who you, what you've done, and whether you're a model Bachelor or Bachelorette like Sean Lowe, or somebody like Arie, where there's controversy and bad feelings and I think it was getting to him. It's hard because on the one hand, we are an "entertainment show," so you're trying to entertain people, and now social media is a big thing and we've put these things out there, and I think our social media is incredibly clever and the best, but sometimes there is that feeling of "Oh my gosh, aren't you guys supposed to be on my side?" So I think that was sort of a one-time incident because we did rectify that, and I think he gets that. I don't think there's any hard feelings. I think his relationship is fine with us, but we also have to be cognizant of he is a real person and going through a lot of trauma as well as Becca.
Some are saying Becca for Bachelorette. What do you say to those saying she hasn't had enough time to heal?
I do understand that. But I think certainly, when Jason said goodbye to Melissa Rycroft, we wanted her to be the Bachelorette, and she said, "Absolutely not. This is not something I'm comfortable with." So I think that it would be a mistake to make Becca the Bachelorette if she absolutely wasn't ready, no matter how much time has gone by. But if she says, "Look, I'm willing to try this and enough time has passed," then I think we'd be silly not to consider it.
