If I've learnt anything from going to uni its that many postgrads want to nuke reality.
PhDs as a system are based on low pay, and using the finiancial precarity of that low pay to coerce postgraduates into underpaid teaching responsibilities they will never be given appropriate training for, leading to frustrating work environments, constant stress, and a rocky relationships with undergrad students who are deeply frustrated with their university palming their expensive education off on under qualified postgrads. The depressing total lack of funding in the arts, and the frequently deeply unethical funding in stem from weapons and oil companies usually destroys any hope they have in their field by around the end of their first year.
Combined with studying one thing for too long, they inevitably come to deeply resent their field from too much exposure, hence wanting to nuke reality. John Gaius from The Locked Tomb series is one such postgrad: in this essay I will-
