its kinda hilarious how little fear and how much trust I move through the world with, like my neighbor has true crime white woman fear and when I took her to the paved trail by 2 the million dollar houses near our apartment at night she was like "omg aren't you scared" literally the only thing to be afraid of out there is the HOA ppl calling the cops on us but its also just an exercise trail and thats what we are doing... all year I have been looking for ppl to do nature walks with and finding ppl who don't do much of it but are interested, and they're like what if the killer is there. but they agreed to get in my car and go to the woods with me after 3 texts so are you afraid of strangers or not lol
anyway especially in this master naturalist thing I'm meeting even stranger ppl in the woods like Friday I just showed up at some white family's farmhouse 2 hours from home down their mile long driveway just cos someone put it on the calendar for camping but I was the only one to show up that day cos ppl were scared of rain but the family was really nice and they let me sleep in the barn so I could put my tent up the next day. And it was such a great weekend more ppl came the next day including a couple friends and I just felt like it was so nice that they do this all the time inviting people and entertaining and just let ppl explore their property. I think the most dangerous thing about places like this is people thinking you're trespassing so its so nice knowing you are invited and welcome. They were ready to provide breakfast and dinner but I was told it would be potluck so my friend and I each brought enough food for ourselves plus sharing so I made a little extra breakfast over their fire pit the first morning and they were really impressed and the next day we both cooked up tons more breakfast tacos for everyone, and so they put us on the grill for dinner too and I felt like so good for being a good guest
#tayne newsletter#still sus of white family's ownership of the land and the demographics but at least they were really hospitable and friendly#and the owner's son had his bf staying over so at least lgbt tolerant
