I've been seeing so many bad faith analysis of taylor swift songs that were about joe alwyn since the news of their breakup. saying “something always felt off” about songs like cornelia street or sweet nothing, or implying “he couldn't handle her fame because his career wasn't doing well”. it's all so insulting to her and her own experience of HER relationship. get off your damn high horse and simply stop speculating about the details of a relationship that was intensely private for this same exact reason! because y'all can't help but stir the pot and badmouth someone who made her happy just because you want it to fit some narrative where she is a victim. controversial but relationships that were beautiful and healthy and happy can end. the sooner you can accept that the sooner you can stop trying to prove that he was secretly a bad boyfriend who “forced her” to be private because he couldn't handle her fame.
#taylor swift#it's really obvious you've got those hindsight goggles on and are making these songs fit into your biased narrative#because you can't deal with the fact that a relationship that WASN'T YOURS#ended amicably#bffr do you really think she would WRITE SONGS with a man who treated her poorly??#and the implication that he was jealous of her fame because his acting career wasn't ‘‘succeeding’’#as if them choosing to be as private about their relationship as they were#didn't signal that he's not hungry for fame at that level#because idk i think if they had been more public he would have absolutely been advantaged by that#choosing to be public would have helped his career much more and he didn't#and no one FORCED taylor to keep their relationship private#she's a grown woman ffs#her fame isn't easy on the people in her life and she knows that#but we literally know nothing about this relationship except what she has written about in her music#and to take that out of it's past context and force it into a new context just seems so mean spirited
