Be In My Eyes - Chapter 1
This is a Vaxleth-centric College AU fic, where our group of chucklefucks share an apartment. You can also find this fic available on AO3. The title was inspired by the song Flowers in Your Hair by The Lumineers.
In the town of Byroden stood a large oak tree, behind which a small girl tried to hide from her brother, her dark hair in a messy braid and her hazel-brown eyes searching the direction from which she had seen him last. She was holding a stick almost as big as her with a piece of string tied to each end in what looked like a makeshift bow.
“Come on, Vex! It’s getting late, and I’m hungry!” A boy’s voice sounded in the distance. The girl, Vex, took a deep breath before she started to round the tree, as slowly and quietly as she could, looking for the source of the voice.
Vex wasn’t as great at hiding as he was, so he spotted her with ease, crouching by the roots of the large tree with her back to him. His equally dark hair fell at the sides of his face, a face so similar to the girl’s, but for the slight change of his features. The boy was able to approach his sister from behind without her noticing, his feet so silent against the dry ground that one could guess he was levitating.
“Caught you!”
The girl jumped in place, raised a hand to her chest, and screamed as she turned to face him. “Vax! You scared me!”
Vax laughed at his sister’s reaction. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. “I’m sorry stubby. We really should get going." He pulled her along with him. “It’s getting dark."
The girl finally nodded in agreement and they walked together, his arm still draped around her, until they reached the small wooden house, where a woman with thick dark hair stood in front of a stove, stirring a pot of stew.
***
The mountain town of Zephrah was located on a hill of the Summit Peaks, surrounded by trees and nature, among which stood a small, modest house, made of logs and stone. The gravel path leading to the wooden door was laden with beautiful flowers of various colors, and the planters in front of the windows sported a few bulbs of flowers ready to bloom.
There was chatter coming and the nice smell of food cooking from inside the house as a tall, white-haired man stirred a pot on the stove while a small red-haired girl sat at the table, drawing flowers on a piece of paper.
“We learned about flowers today." The girl said as she drew a daisy. “We learned about cherry blossoms, snowdrops, and wildflowers… there are so many flowers with so many colors, and they’re all so pretty!” She finished tracing the daisy, only to start drawing a second one right next to it.
"Yes, flowers are one of the most beautiful things nature has to offer." The man said, looking over his shoulder. “They don't necessarily need to be merely decorative. They can have many uses, as you know." The girl nodded with her gaze still focused on the drawing, seemingly happy with the answer. “Keyleth dear, will you please set the table? Dinner is almost ready."
Keyleth nodded in response before her father turned his gaze back to the pot and started to collect her things by placing her coloring pencils inside a cute green pencil case. “Dad, what was mom’s favorite flower?”
Keyleth’s mother had died almost five years ago, when she was only five, and she didn’t have many memories of her, so she often asked her father questions about her. Keyleth knew that sometimes it hurt him to talk about her mom, but he knew it was important for her to know about her, so he would always answer her questions, especially the ones about what her mom loved and all her favorite things.
“She loved chamomiles." Her father answered with a smile. “They are beautiful, smell good, and they make great tea!” Like every time he spoke about his wife, Keyleth could see the threat of tears at the corners of his eyes.
“I love chamomiles too. I remember when mom used to make me tea when I was sick." Keyleth’s voice was soft and nostalgic. “I miss her so much."
Her father stepped away from the stove, making sure to turn it off beforehand, and approached her, crouching to her height and pulling her into a hug. “I know dear. I miss her too."

Tales of vesperia!!!
Sooooooo I got tales (of vesperia) for like 20 dollars at a mall recently and here is my experience!!! Don't expect consistent updates lmao
When the opening cutscene was happening (where Yuri was sitting at the window) and Yuri hadn't talked yet (I had English voice on) I was like "oh she's really pretty,,," and then I heard his voice and i was like "OOP that's a man 😶"
He's still hot tho. Like genuinely. I've never found a guy THIS attractive before. Like I wouldn't want to do anything or get with him or anything like that, but like he's still really pretty. (Probably because I thought he was a girl at first 😶 the pretty boys always get me)
ESPECIALLY in the "reliable senior" outfit as well. On god. I just wish the attachments showed up on costumes so I could put glasses on RS!Yuri and lose my SHIT
Also Rita's outfit is an absolute VIBE, especially the boots, goddamn.
Also I haven't gotten Judith yet, but like... Goddamn 😳😳😳 (hot women have me acting unwise once more)
Also, I'm just saying... Flynn and Yuri? Kinda fruity thing they got going on ("I can't wait to see his face when he sees the revived great halure tree" why? So you can kiss him underneath it? So you can feel his soft lips on yours as cherry blossom petals flutter around you like in a romance novel? Gay ass.)
Edit: uhhhhhhhh this has been rotting in my drafts for god knows how long, at least since last year, but alot of stuff said still holds true.
Yuri is still hot, Judith, who I STILL haven't met, is still hot, Rita's still a vibe, and Flynn + Yuri are still hella gay to me (To the point where I said "*gasp* Toxic Yuri?" in the scene after you two reunite in rainsville USA)
But on new-er news, I just got to the Den of Guilds town and have to go somewhere because spoiler plot shit
I think Estelle has some shit going on with her. Granted i don't think she's evil, but I do think she's hiding things. I know the thing about her bastilla but besides that, nothing.
Also it's really one of two characters at this point, but I think Dragon Guy is either Raven or Judith. We need a way to fast travel *eventually*, unless we're just supposed to walk everywhere, and a dragon rider would be the perfect way to do that
Judith because she strikes me as the "dragon rider" type, and it would be cool as hell if her introduction was this badass dragon rider tbh, and all I'm saying is as far as I remember, I've never seen Raven and Dragon Guy in the same room (along with Raven also strikes me as a dragon rider.)
Leaning a litttttttle more towards Raven at this point, if only for the fact that "Hidden in plain sight" seems more likely than "New character being introduced", buuuuuut also if this whole Dragon Guy sub-plot turns out to be Judith's Introduction, I'm not gonna say I didn't call it
Anyways now I'm just going places I'm *really* probably not supposed to be at this point, and beating up Zincs and Bronzes for items to sell, despite being probably no where near the point plot-wise where I should logically be going in that area yet.
In my defense, if they didn't want me going there, they should have blocked me off from it
aaannnnnnddddddd that's it for now! Can't say expect consistent updates, but there will... Probably be updates

when you overhear him say he’s dating you only to make his brother jealous.
Tumblr media

Osamu was walking down the school hallways beside his best friend, Sunarin when the conversation came up. They had been talking about school, then from school, they started talking about classmates then from that the subject changed to partners and dating. When Rintarou found out about his friend, he was obviously happy for him, yet he couldn’t help but wonder why his friend suddenly got into a relationship when he hasn’t shown any interest in dating someone for months. So, he decided to ask.
“So,” he put both his hands behind his head, his elbows pointing up, “Why’d ya do it?”
“Huh?” Osamu looked up at him, “do what?”
“You started dating YN so suddenly. It just seems so out of character for you to do.” He replied, “Or maybe my question should be, how you started dating her? Pretty much every boy in school has had his eyes on her at one point.”
Osamu chuckled at the question. “Well, I’ve got my ways when it comes to flirting and all that. As for why I did it,” a smirk grew on his lips as he thought about it. “Alright, listen, I’m only tellin’ you this ‘cause you’re my best friend, okay?” Rintarou nodded, unsure of what to expect next. “I started dating her because I wanted to make Atsumu jealous. He brags to me about girls he meets all the time, about how much his fangirls love him. The best way I could get back to him is if I started dating the girl every guy around here wanted.”
Suna looked at his friend wide-eyed before letting out a laugh, “oh my God, you’re evil!”
The conversation had kept your boyfriend’s attention away from the fact that while he was talking, he was passing your class. Having just gotten back from your lunch break, you did not expect to be overhearing this conversation. You felt crushed, used. You were ready to open up to him, good thing that you never did. As Osamu and his friend disappeared into the school’s halls, you put your hand over the necklace your soon-to-be ex-boyfriend had given you and made a decision. You would not be suffering over an asshole, not this time, not again.
That afternoon, after all the classes were over, Osamu waited for you at the school gates so you two could walk home together. You met him at the school gates, just like you always do. You two went on about your usual conversations as you walked home, homework, exams, family, anything normal couples talk about. You two soon enough arrived at his house, you walked him to his doorstep and instead of giving him the usual kiss on the lips, you decided to speak up.
“Atsumu’s kind of annoying, isn’t he?” you smiled at your boyfriend, he let out a ‘huh’ in confusion before you proceeded. “He’s always bragging about how girls want him, doesn't it make you want to get back to him in some way?”
With that, a frown appeared on Osamu’s face. Realizing that there was no way he could get out of this situation and still get to call you his, he gave up. “Who told you?” a part of him thought Suna had informed you, then again, he was the only one who knew besides Osamu.
“Do you think I’m stupid, Osamu? Honestly, I’m curious. Just how long did you think you could use me for?”
Hearing your monotone voice made him remember just how much you had done for him during the time he was dating you. Hearing your tone made him realise how much he’d lost, made him realise why everyone wanted to be with you in the first place. Most of all, it made him remember why when he first saw you, for a moment, he fell for you too. “Listen, YN, maybe I can make it up–”
“Oh, fuck off! You won’t make up shit.” you grabbed the necklace he had gifted you and ripped it off your neck, throwing it on the grass of the Miya family’s front yard. “You’ll have to find someone else to play your games with because we’re done, Miya. Please don’t talk to me again.” You turned around, feeling as if the heaviest weight has been lift off your chest. You finally feel at ease as you walk out of Miya’s property and make your way home. That day you left Osamu at his doorstep, you left him feeling broken and full of regret. One might say you left him the way you first met him.
Tumblr media
Atsumu had told you he would be going out with his teammate Ginjima that day, what you hadn’t had time to tell him is that you would be going out to the town too.
He walked around the town’s shopping centre with a bubble tea cup in his hand, looking around the various stores. “Did ya know YN actually loves this place?” By the tone of Atsumu voice, it was clear to Gin that Atsumu was about to start another one of his annoying rants. “She always likes coming here with me. She says she likes the atmosphere. It’s classic girl stuff, I guess. Shopping and all that.”
“I don’t blame her, to be honest. There’s some really cool stuff ‘round here.” Ginjima replied, hoping that he would end Atsumu rant like that.
“I guess. She’s kinda annoying sometimes, always dragging me around to do stuff with her. I mean, I didn’t even start dating her because of me, y’know?”
Ginjima looked at Atsumu, what the fuck was he talking about? “No, I don’t know, Atsumu.”
“Oh, well, I actually started dating her because Osamu has a crush on her.” He admitted it so shamelessly as if it was the most normal thing in the world to say, as if he did it every day. Gin didn’t know what to focus on, the fact Atsumu’s playing with this girl or the fact he’s hurting his twin brother’s feelings with it.
“Atsumu, you fucking–”
Ginjima was interrupted by your voice, you had greeted Atsumu and him as you grabbed Atsumu’s arm, smiling up at him. He wasn’t sure where you came from, whereas Atsumu, on the other hand, could recall you had been behind them and they hadn’t noticed until you talked to them.
Atsumu wasn’t sure whether you had heard what he said about you. His heart was beating a little quicker as he opened his mouth to reply. “H-Hey Yn! I didn’t know you’d be here!”
“Yeah, sorry about that! I forgot to tell you, babe.” You kept on smiling, putting Atsumu at ease. He let out a sigh out of relief, convinced you hadn’t heard them. “What were you two talking about?” You continued.
Before Atsumu could say anything, Ginjima answered for him, “Osamu has a crush apparently. Atsumu decided to tell me his secret like the horrible brother he is.” Gin wasn’t entirely sure why he decided to lie to you, but he wasn’t going to pass on an opportunity to blackmail Atsumu, was he?
“Don’t say than Gin! ‘Tsumu is a great brother and boyfriend!” you exclaimed, making Atsumu even more convinced that you hadn't heard him.
And with that, the went on continued normally. The three of you wandered around the shopping centre before eventually deciding to split up, leaving you and Atsumu to walk home together. He had invited you over to his house, saying he's home alone this weekend. As you entered the house and sat on the couch there was an uncomfortable silence between the two of you. After your boyfriend sat next to you, you finally spoke up about what had been bothering you ever since you saw him at that mall.
“You know that you’re an asshole, right, Atsumu?” he turned his gaze at you, surprised. “Do you have any idea–”
Feeling the need to make up an excuse, Atsumu interrupted you. “Listen, babe–”
“Don’t fucking interrupt me!” you slightly started raising your voice, “You know, I’m glad that you got to go around and tell all your friends about how much of a player you are! While I was busy being called a slut and a whore for dating you!”
“What? Who the fuck was calling you a whore?”
“Your fucking fangirls, Atsumu,” you said his name with such disgust in your voice, and he noticed. “And you would've fucking known if you ever cared enough to listen. I guess I don't blame you for never listening, then again, I was just a little game so that your brother would get jealous.”
“YN, hear me out here, ”
“No, Atsumu, there is nothing for me to hear. We’re done, we’re over.” You weren't sure whether there was anything else to say to him, you didn't want to argue with him either.
“Fuck you, Atsumu Miya,” you said as you got up and stormed out the door.
At that moment, Atsumu had just shaken his head and continued about his day normally. He knew you would found out eventually, so he has promised himself he wouldn't become attached to you. What he didn't know is that he has broken that promise the second you had first kissed his lips, every time he saw you walking down the hallways at school he felt his heart slightly ache, as if it was becoming smaller. When he saw you blushing as his twin brother confessed to you under the big cherry blossom tree at the school’s backyard, he felt the same feeling. Now when he sees you holding his brother's hand, he still feels the same, hurt, aching, and as if his regret is ready to drown him.

Sebastian x Gotoran!Reader 3 (SFW)
Contains: reconciliation, slight fluff, Sam is still salty, Y/n is a dick but she's honest, Sebastian is awkward asf, Fem!Reader
part one, part two, 3
Tumblr media
Spring 24 // the flower dance
Instead of going to the dance, Y/n had spent her day roughing it out in the mines, slaying all kinds of monsters and picking up new materials and ores.
She didn't wanna wear a dress, nor did she want to dance.
At least the dresses she ever wore in the past weren't so poorly designed.
Though she especially didn't wanna see Sebastian after abruptly lashing out on him and calling him a dick.
Even if she had gone, there would've probably been a lot of stares and whispers crowded around her.
Like at the egg festival...
Y/n had enough of hearing others complaints and worries.
The words were implanted in her brain, rotting in her own core.
It wasn't like they didn't impact her well being..
'What if she drops a bomb right here?'
'Careful, Jas! Stay away from her..'
'That girls dangerous Vincent, she's the reason your father is gone'
Y/n gave out a sigh, remembering the harsh words that were cruelly shoved into her system.
Maybe staying in the Gotoro Empire was a better idea...
"Oh my Yoba, what am I thinking? I'm not staying for a stupid arranged marriage" Y/n scoffed quietly, she hit herself in the head with her palm before standing up with a groan.
"Especially with some dumb pretty boy soldier.." ___
After getting out the mines, Y/n had gone to the secret woods and fished around Marniesbefore going deeper into the forests.
There was a faint melody playing around the woods and Y/n swung to the tune.
She had to admit, she was always a sucker for a good slow dance song.
She could barely make out the voice of Sam, singing with the music through a loud mic.
Though Y/n could tell the boy was holding back and it really irritated her considering she herself had gone through a band period with some of her old friends.
Having enough with the blondes painfully held back singing, Y/n, frustrated, quickly trudged towards the area of the dance.
Eyes followed her direction as the town watched her smoothly climb over the fence and towards the trio who had just finished performing.
There were cherry blossom petals in her hair and bandages covered her injured body from the harsh monsters hidden in the mines.
The blossoms really took her back to her home.
How the first thing she'd see in the spring morning of her apartment was the cherry blossoms blooming right outside her window.
It made her feel a bit home sick...
Sam stared at her with shock and concern.
What did she want?
He raised an eyebrow at her and she let out a grunt, pulling him by his tie to the corner of the  clearing.
"W-what-"
"Your singing is terrible, it was out of pitch"
Sam was disheartened at her stingy remark.
"I'd like to see you try?" Sam scoffed, rolling his eyes at her.
Yoba did Y/n make him act different.
Y/n scoffed lightly, she was actually lead singer in her old band...
"I mean the way your holding back makes it terrible and out of pitched, if you keep your voice quiet the way you do, the music will overtake the actual lyrics, not that the lyrics don't do a play in your terrible singing..." she let go of his tie and looked towards the trees, stuffing her hands in her pockets.
"What do you know about lyrics?" Sam gritted through his teeth, he was done with her bull and everyone knew it.
She knew everything about lyrics...
"You look great in that shirt, I said to you on a Thursday" Y/n sang to the words Sam had sung just prior to their tiny conversation.
He cringed and covered her mouth.
"Ok, I get it but for real, what would you even know about music? What gives you the right to judge me?"
Y/n could feel herself grow arrogant over his words, she could blow up and tell him about her old band right then..
But then she wouldn't wanna explain the whole backstory to why they broke up.
"Sam, just trust me, even if the lyrics are terrible at least make an effort and stop being such a pussy, do whatever you wanna do, scream if you have to but just have fun with it or you'll never get anywhere"
His brows furrowed angrily, he knew she was right.
He knew it since the very beginning.
Sam nodded, Y/n nodding back before staring over at Sebastian and Abby who were glaring daggers straight at her.
She nodded to them and Sebastians eyes softened with hers.
Just before Seb had the chance to speak up,
Y/n was hopping over the fence back into the forest.
Without a second left to waste, Sebastian made the rash decision to go after her.
"Y/n!" He yelled out after he climbing over the fence carefully, he had no idea where she could've run off to in such a short amount of time.
Before he knew it, Sebastian had been standing beneath a larger tree in the middle of a clearing.
It was deep into the forest and he'd been near the mountains right about now.
"Looking for me?" The familiar voice uttered from the tree.
Sebastian looked up to see Y/n, comfortably laid down on a large branch, her sun hat hanging on a small twig below her.
She eyed him up and down before staring straight into his eyes with what felt like anger to Sebastian.
"Uh.. I wanted to talk" he said awkwardly, his fingers twitching at the tense energy fuming from Y/n's body.
"What about?" Y/n pushed, she swiftly hung her legs from the branch, hanging upside down with her eyes closed.
She could feel the blood flow to her head in the following, even if it'd given her a headache, it was a bit comforting to know she was alive with the feel of pain.
Sebastian slowly walked to the tree and sat down at the stump, beside Y/n as he occasionally glanced over at her.
Staring deeply into the dangling locks of hair falling almost perfectly beside him.
"I uh.. I'm sorry for.. you know, being a dick... I didn't mean to make you feel like where you came from matters or anything like that, and I know it may seem like it but I'm not doing this out of fear ok?"
Sebastians anxieties grew along side the silence that followed his confession.
It'd been at least a minute before Y/n finally let out a sigh.
He watched as she climbed down, sitting next to him.
She'd left a fair amount of space in between them where her sun hat now sat.
"So.." Sebastian muttered.
They both stared down at the grass
Y/n picked up a lone daisy growing from beneath the tree stump and placed it in the pocket of Sebastians blue suit pocket.
The colour didn't suit him at all...
___
Sebastian walked back to the festival by himself, Y/n was gone by the time he had anything to say about the flower.
He sighed, staring at the white petals as he twirled it by the stem.
Sebastian was allergic to flowers.
He took it, despite the consequences he'd have later on.
It seemed to tell him that he'd been forgiven.
It was comforting.
His cheeks warmed at the thought of having something other than of his own room to feel comfortable with.
It was strange, unsettling even.
Sebastian never cared for things like plants, so why was the thing so damn important to him?

Hello I love your work! May I request a writing prompt that has RF4 Arthur x Frey? Basically like the're on a date on a Japanese flower-watching festival (hanami) and the kiss number is 22 or 49. A short, sweet, drabble if possible. Please and thank you :3 (and I don't like smut so plz no smut)
Thank you for the prompt Nonny!
I have so much fun with these Smooch Prompts 😁
You asked for #22 A kiss that is leading to more, but is interrupted by a third party or #49 Short and sweet kiss after meeting up for a date. and I immediately went "Both? Both. Both is good." I hope this makes up for forgetting the flower festival prompt. I wrote this on my phone's note pad at work, and don't have mobile internet access in the lab, so I couldn't double check the prompt. I remembered the flowers, just not the festival part.
I hope you enjoy Frey and Arthur enjoying a very rare chance for some alone time.
💜💜💜💜💜
Goosebumps prickled across Frey's arms, and not just because of the chill breeze that cut through the otherwise warm spring sunshine. Excited butterflies fluttered in her stomach when she saw him waiting outside his office. His face was turned skyward, his eyes were closed, basking in the sunlight, enjoying a moment of peace and quiet. All this time and he still made her feel like a blushing girl with a crush.
"Arthur!" Frey called out, a warm smile breaking across her face.
Her smile was reflected on Arthur's face as he opened his eyes, adjusted his glasses, and turned to her. "Hello, darling." He took her into his arms and pecked her on the lips.
"Sorry I'm late. Got held up talking to Kiel, you know how he is. Were you waiting long?"
"Just a minute. A perfectly reasonable allowance when we are asking Kiel for a favor." Arthur chuckled. He stooped to pick up the basket that was sitting at his feet, and wound his free arm through Frey's. "Are you ready?"
Frey leaned into him. "Been looking forward to this all day."
They walked slowly through town, setting an ambling pace as they chatted about this and that and traded pleasantries with people they passed on the street. Frey looked at the trees all around town. They were fully in bloom, their blossoms perfumed the air, and a few stray petals danced on the wind.
"This reminds me of our first date," Frey reminisced pleasantly. "We tried a picnic at the lake."
"And if I remember correctly, the date lasted about ten minutes before it started pouring rain."
"Not the best start for a relationship, but it ended up fine in the end." Frey giggled at the memory, giving Arthur's arm a squeeze. They had rushed so frantically to pack everything up again and retreat to the castle before they realized it was a wasted effort. They were both soaked to the bone within minutes anyways. "Volkanon was so cross with us for tracking all that mud into the castle. And Porcoline mourned their ruined picnic for days."
"Let its not be said I don't learn from my mistake. I checked the weather today. Clear skies ahead."
They made it to the lake. By a stroke of good luck, there was nobody else on the shore, enjoying the fine spring day, not even the resident fishermen casting into the sapphire blue waters. It couldn't have been more perfect. Still, they wandered to the far side of the lake, finding a secluded spot just out of direct eyesight from the main shore. They didn't have much time for dates these days, and the last thing they wanted was to be interrupted if they didn't have to.
Frey spread out the blanket on the cool green grass, underneath the sun-dappled shade of an oak tree. Arthur unpacked their picnic, laying out a veritable feast. They settled in, cuddling up to each other, intertwining their legs and leaning against one another. They sipped wine, ate fresh fruit, sharp cheese, salty salmon onigiri, and sweet cookies. Frey pointed out the trees in bloom around the lake: cherry blossoms, apple blooms, magnolias. They talked about important things, and nothing at all, whiling away a pleasant afternoon. They traded bites of food, and then kisses that tasted of wine and sweet berries.
"You know," Frey said as she straddled Arthur's lap, "It's been ages since we've had alone time like this."
"Alone time does appear to be a luxury for us at this stage of our lives, doesn't it?"
He cupped Frey's cheek with his hand and pulled her in for a kiss. She backed away just long enough to gently remove his glasses, set them aside on the blanket, and then kissed him deeply.
When they stopped to breathe, Arthur's face was red and flushed. "Wait. Out here? Anyone can come by."
Frey's face went hot too, but she grinned slyly. "We're pretty well tucked away from the main shore. Who would see us? It's probably more private than home anyway."
"You have a good point."
They moved together for another kiss. Their lips had barely brushed when, as if to prove them wrong, they heard a voice call out.
"Mama! Papa!"
They broke apart. Both snorting in rueful laughter, touching foreheads.
"You were saying what about it being more private here?" Arthur teased as he groped for his glasses.
"This is why we'll never be able to have a second child." Frey whispered to her husband before moving from his lap and turning to face their rapidly approaching daughter. "Hello, Luna dear!"
Their three-year-old crashed into her arms with a giggle.
"You, my dear, are supposed to be with Mister Kiel. What did you do with him?" Arthur scolded gently, ruffling Luna's hair.
"He's there," Luna pointed behind her, to where Kiel was running towards them, already calling out profuse apologies for interrupting their date.
"Well," Frey reasoned with a sigh, patting the blanket for Kiel to take a seat too. "What's a picnic if it's not shared with friends and family."

Rumors: pt 1
Ship: Yeosang x Named female character (Jae Hwa)
College AU. 'Bad' girl x shy studious Yeosang.
Some fluff, some angst, mostly slice of life, a bit chaotic
Warnings: overly controlling parents, rumors, cursing, motorcycle.
Word count: 2.3k
A/N: this is a short series. I hope you all enjoy it. I'm trying out different writing styles as I get back into writing so I hope you enjoy.
All of this is pure fiction.❤
Tumblr media
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" He whispered tentatively behind her.
"We aren't doing anything wrong. We're fine." she whispered back.
"Then why are we whispering?" He questioned.
"I don't know, you're the one who started whispering" she giggled softly.
They quietly made their way through the dark, slowly weaving through the trees following the path, the half moon slightly lighting their way. The soft sound of their feet against the dirt encompassing them.
"We're almost there, I promise" she said reaching back her hand. He grabbed it tightly, she could feel his heart pounding, as her fingers intertwined with his.
The path opened to a beautiful clearing overlooking the city. The stars visible above them. She smiled as she looked at him, his eyes got big as he looked up, his mouth slightly agape.
"Wow" was all he could say. He never thought sneaking out with his girlfriend would be so unique. Most people sneaking out to parties, his girlfriend snuck him out to go stargazing. She pulled the backpack off her back, and pulled out two blankets. She spread one out in the clearing, and put the other over her lap as she sat down. He laid on the blanket next to her, and she smiled as she draped the blanket over him as well and laid down, her head on his chest.
The stars twinkled in the midnight sky, as they cuddled. She was the yin, to his yang.
He was the shy studious type. His bleached hair, and picturesque features made him the talk of the town. His laugh and smile lit up the whole campus when he joked with his friends.
She was the trouble maker. Labeled a rebel with her short bright purple undercut hair, eyebrow piercing, and motorcycle. Everyone judged her by her looks, except him.
----- three months earlier-----
"She just thinks she owns the place" Jen scoffed, stirring her iced coffee with her straw.
"I know, she just storms in every place she goes, her boots clanking on the floor as she stomps everywhere." Jens best friend Rose added, as they both eyed her from across the dining hall.
Yeosang was shocked, everyone at this college seemed to have it out for her. They all gossiped about her, her apparent 'bad behavior', that he'd never seen. Also everyone's rumors of her were different. The only thing he knew for sure was her name was Jae Hwa, or Jae, and she rocked her short purple undercut far better than any other girl could. Sure her resting face was a bit..... harsh, but some people said the same about him. After he heard yet another rumor from the next table over, he decided to go see what she's all about for himself. Yeosang stood up quickly, he had to do this before he changed his mind. He started towards her, ignoring the questions from his friends at the table he just abandoned.
She was leaning her chair back, on two legs, against the brick wall of the dining hall, eating a sandwich, while doing something on her phone. She was preoccupied in her own little world, and why shouldn't she be. This school was full of gossip, which just annoyed her. She was here to study, how else was she going to get into the school she was really aiming for.
Yeosang approached her table when he started questioning everything. What if that prison rumor was true? Or that one about eating a live duck. She didn't look heartless enough to eat a live animal. What was he doing? He didn't know her. She definitely didn't know him. What was he going to say? It's not like he should start a conversation with 'I heard rumors about you, and wanted to know if they were true.'
He stopped a few steps away from her, maybe if he turned back now she wouldn't see him. She looked up at him, cocking her eyebrows, the metal gracing her right brow glinting with the movement. "Can I help you?" She petitioned.
He was a deer in the headlights, he was trapped. Her stare was slightly unnerving.
"I'm Yeosang" he stated, mentally slapping himself. This was not what he intended.
"I know." she replied, leaning her chair forward, letting it hit the ground with a bang. She leaned forward, onto the table. Her bright eyes bore into his. "How can I help you, Yeosang?"
He heard people start to gossip behind him, as she stared him down. He took a few steps and sat at an empty chair at her table.
"I was wondering if I could join you." He seemed unsure of his own words.
A smirk graced her lips.
"Well, looks like you already did" her voice had a playful tune to it, as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"I was wondering what your majoring in?" He asked, trying to seem natural in this awkward situation he had caused.
"Biomedical science" she responded dryly, he was intrigued.
"I didn't know we had that here"
"This university doesn't, but it's close to home, and gives me the prerequisites I need to get into the school I want."
He nodded, a soft smile gracing his statuesque face.
The conversation deepened after that. He explained he was currently doing a computer sciences major, but was thinking of changing to something to do with International relations, or something so he would have the chance to meet people from around the world. They then started to talk about anything and everything, like how she had gotten a motorcycle because it was cheaper on gas. How his best friend was constantly trying new recipes, and making him try them, which most of the time ended in disaster. Their laughter was interrupted by her phone going off.
She looked at it and cursed. "I'm late for that stupid lecture." she grumbled, quickly shoving things into her bag. "This was nice, thanks." She gave a quick wave as she practically ran out of the dining hall. He looked around to see the hall had mostly emptied, and realized he himself was late for class.
"So you have a thing for bad girls now?" Wooyoung asked as Yeosang sat down at their usual table local Cafe, with his coffee.
"What are you talking about?" He asked.
"He's talking about how you ditched us all without saying a word then went and talked to Jae for who knows how long." San smirked, sipping his coffee.
"She's not a bad girl. She's really nice." Yeosang retorted.
"That's not what I heard," Seonghwa raised his eyebrows. Yeosang felt a small flame alight inside him, it was as if some part of him had to protect her.
"That's the problem, everyone talks about her, I want to actually know her." Yeosang started, his voice calm, but his eyes enraged. "Everyone at this stupid university just gossips, and spreads rumors. You guys should know that better than anyone.  Seonghwa, remember when the rumor started that you broke up with some girl over her not eating your kimchi fried rice?" His eyes became pointed at his friend, Wooyoung scoffed, Yeosang turned on his best friend. "Do you remember when we started as freshman, and everyone was claiming you had, not one but three different clones. None of which knew how to drive a car, two of which didn't speak."
"Yeah, rumors are weird" Wooyoung noted as he looked intensely at his coffee. Yeosang took a deep breath in. Where did that come from? He asked himself, as he looked at his friends. San just stared in awe, as did Mingi. Seonghwa just looked everywhere but Yeosang, and Wooyoung continued to stare at his coffee. Maybe it was a slight guilt Yeosang saw in his best friends eyes. No one should take rumors at face value.
Living at home while going to school was great for saving money. While it worked great for Jae, her parents were supportive of just letting her live her life, and pursue her dreams.
It didn't work so well for Yeosang. His parents were strict, he had a curfew even though he was a legal adult. He also had rules to follow, and he did what his parents wanted him to for school, and for work. Aside from his friends which his parents reluctantly approved of, it seemed as if Yeosangs parents controlled every aspect of his life.
"You just don't get it, your parents let you move out, and do what you want at school. I'm stuck here" Yeosang complained as he leaned on the counter at the small restaurant Wooyoung worked at.
"I've told you to inform them it's your life, and to just move in with Seonghwa, and I." Wooyoung chided as he cleaned another table. Yeosang groaned, stirring his water with the straw placed in the cup.
"Eh, Seonghwa I could handle, you not so much"
"Shut up" Wooyoung threw the dry towel on his shoulder at Yeosang.
"I better head to work" Yeosang groaned.
Work was boring for Yeosang, sure it paid well, but working at the call desk, at the fanciest hotel in the city was never in his plans. Most of the calls he just redirected to the correct department. His favorite part of his shift was when it ended, and he got to walk out of the hotel.
Tonight was like most other nights in early spring; a chill in the air, the scent of cherry blossoms starting to bloom wafting over from the park next to the hotel. Yeosang started his walk towards the subway when he saw a small fluffy dog running towards him excitedly, his leash trailing behind him. Yeosang bent down, and held out his hand to the dog, who approached him, and immediately started licking his hand.
"Bong, get back here!" A voice yelled from within the park, he turned and saw Jae running towards them. Her eyes widened as she saw Yeosang.
"Cute dog you have here." Yeosang said, handing her the leash.
"Thank you for catching him. The little stinker ran off when I was tying my shoe. I guess I didn't have the leash under my foot well enough." She explained with a shrug.
"He just wanted to go on an adventure" he commented, as he bent down. Bong nuzzled his head into Yeosangs palms as he pet him. "What kind of dog is he?"
"He's a cavapoo, well at least that's what the shelter said when I adopted him." She bent down as well. Bong was in heaven, enjoying the pets and loves from two people at the same time, his tail whipping back and forth, as he rolled onto his side.
She never expected Yeosangs kindness. Everyone else she encountered avoided her, but he always smiled at her when the rest would stare, and whisper.
They ended up walking the park and talking for over an hour, the park slowly emptying of people as the hour grew later. He found out she worked at the animal shelter, feeding and taking care of the animals in the back. He explained his boring job he had, and ended up venting about his family situation. She was grateful for a friend, and he was grateful for her listening ear.
When his phone started ringing, he saw who was calling and the time his face paled.
"Hello" he answered reluctantly.
"Where are you"
"I got held up after work"
"You should've been home by now"
"I'm sorry, I will be home shortly"
"Your father and I expect more from you" the line went dead. Yeosang sighed heavily.
"Shit" he muttered, then let out an aggravated scream.
"I'm sorry" Jae said, watching him run his fingers through his hair. "I shouldn't have kept you." She stared at her feet, softly kicking at the grass.
"It's not you, I just" his voice fading as he stared off in the distance. "I just wish I had the courage and money to just move out. I just have to figure out how to live my own life." His voice soft yet determined.
Jae found herself softly touching his arm, trying to comfort him. Her timid touch brought him back to reality.
"The subway is going to take forever to get home"
"I live less than a block away, let's take Bong back to my place and I'll give you a ride"
"I can't believe I'm riding bitch on a girls motorcycle" Yeosang muttered as she handed him her extra helmet.
"Well im not letting anyone else drive my baby" Jae laughed putting her own helmet on. She climbed on and started her blue bullet bike. "Climb on, wrap your arms around me and just lean with me around corners." She instructed. The city seemed to fly past, as they made their way towards his house.
"Stop here" he yelled.
"But your house is another block or so," she yelled back.
"My parents are already ready to kill me, I can't imagine what they would do if they saw me get off a motorcycle" he hollered. She shook her head as she stopped, and turned off her bike. He thanked her and handed back the helmet.
"You know, if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to text me" she stared at the ground, her sudden shyness was intriguing. She usually held more of a hard expression, this one seems vulnerable. He smiled.
"I'd love to, but I need your number first" he teased. He could see her cheeks darken through her helmet, as he handed her his phone. She quickly added her number.
He smiled widely as he made his way towards home. He didn't look forward to what would happen once he arrived home, but he looked forward to texting her later.
