As you might guess I'm ambivalent at best about anti-intellectualism and the hatred of professionals in general, I know it's very popular to hate them all but I do usually think that people who train for years to understand or master some field have more knowledge of it than the average joe, despite the firmly entrenched belief in American popular culture that no meaningful knowledge is beyond the grasp of the average person's intuition

that said

I fucking hate the medical profession

#I mean #it's the bureaucracy more than the individuals #as is always the case #no single person is to blame and no single person can fix it #but I've been on hold for over ten minutes with my child's pediatrician #this is normal #it is a massive pain in the ass to get in touch with these people #a massive pain in the ass to get in #and the fact that they stole the title doctor from scholars certainly doesn't help #it is I suppose possible that they are just swarmed with calls #but in my mind #the phone is just sitting there unattended while they fuck off
